Kari Langley

I found Dr. Kari H. Langley as I was exiting another establishment that shares a parking lot with Dr. Langley’s office. I looked at her website and it seemed reasonable, I checked for reviews and found none, neither positive nor negative, so I thought I’d give her a shot since she was so close to my house.
I arrive on my appointment day and immediately notice the front lobby has a mini fridge stocked with free waters and also free Keurig coffee. This is always a red flag to me as it says that whatever service I’m about to get will have an inflated price tag to cover all the «nicey nicey» refreshments being offered while I wait. As we all know once your appointment day arrives you can’t cancel or you’ll be charged so I went on ahead with my appointment despite my hesitation.

I get to the back and meet the very nice hygienist and we chat as she takes some panoramic x-​rays. Then Dr. Langley comes in and wants to inspect my gum pockets. I made an appointment to have my teeth cleaned, and I’m irritated that she’s steering the direction of my appointment but I go on with it hoping to be rewarded with a cleaning at the end. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Dr. Langley said that «we didn’t have anything to discuss as far as decay was concerned» but that I have some «deep pockets» that will of course require extensive routine deep cleaning that (surprise) my insurance won’t cover completely. And the cherry on top is that she refused to clean my teeth because she didn’t want to waste time cleaning now because she’d have to clean them again when I come back to begin all my «deep cleaning» appointments. WOW. Though I recognize how certain Dr. Langley was with her hard sales methods, unfortunately I’m not your average consumer and I don’t take kindly to being guided into expensive treatments that I don’t agree with.
I left Dr. Langley’s office, immediately called my old dentist and took the first available appointment to get my teeth cleaned. My appointment date arrived 2 weeks later, I went in and they cleaned my teeth :-) They also mentioned that my gums looked «a little red» but they agreed with me that it could certainly have been because it had been a year and a half since my last cleaning. They also found a small but clearly visible cavity on one of my wisdom teeth… they showed it to me and I could even see it, so I’m not sure why Dr. Langley would have said specifically that we didn’t have anything to discuss involving decay? I left my old dentist feeling quite victorious despite having a small filling.
I thought my experience with Dr. Langley was done… until I got a bill. REALLY??? Are you kidding me??? Yep– a bill for $ 4.00 that my insurance wouldn’t cover. I feel like I should call my insurance provider and apologize for utterly wasting their money. I seriously thought about taking the $ 4.00 bill to Dr. Langley’s office and paying her in pennies, but figured I’d just go on, mail her a check and get on with my life. Until I got that bill, I’d decided I wasn’t going to write a Unilocal review… but that $ 4.00 bill really ignited my fury all over again, so is why I felt compelled to warn others.
If you’re the kind of person that does whatever someone in a white coat tells you to, and you don’t mind paying a premium for that privilege, then Dr. Langley is the absolute perfect dentist for you. But if you’re working every day to make your ends meet and you don’t have the time or the money to play these games and to be jerked around, then keep on looking for another dentist.
