Established in 2010.

In the Spring of 2010, David and Karen Parks opened Elements of Bodywork, a professional therapeutic massage studio.

David and Karen P.

Business Owner

David is a 2002 graduate and past instructor of Charlotte’s Southeastern Institute (School of Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy.) In 13 years of professional massage, he has worked at Modern Salon and Spa, and the Ballantyne Hotel. David is also an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer, helping his clients with exercises that can benefit their posture.

Karen is a 2007 graduate of Southeastern School of Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy. She is also an AFAA certified personal trainer, and has taught yoga in Charlotte-​area spas and fitness centers. Her work experience includes Urbana, Charlotte Athletic Club, and Flex and Fit. Karen also taught Yoga as a part of Central Piedmont Community College’s physical education curriculum.

David & Karen Parks are fantastic massage therapists! I have worked with both over the last few years, but David most recently. I truly don’t think you will find a more dedicated and knowledgeable massage therapist. He knows the human body up & down, backwards & forwards and always takes his time to understand what you are feeling and to explain his thoughts on treatment. He cares very deeply about getting to the bottom of what is causing pain/​discomfort, etc. He gives you his undivided attention and always spends the full time you have booked with him. And if you just need stress relief or relaxation, his Swedish massages are awesome!
I feel so fortunate to have run into him by chance and look forward to working with him in the future. David & Karen are simply the best!

David is amazing! I’ve been having pain issues with my neck, shoulder and ankle for a long time. He spent considerable time, getting to know my pain issues, showed me several exercises to strengthen my muscles and talked with me through the session, explaining what he was doing and how the muscles relate to each other. I like that he made education a part of the therapy treatment by teaching me simple, effective methods that I can implement at home. For the first time in months, I can move my neck without pain and the ‘knots’ are gone. I’ve had massages before but David is a true professional, extremely knowledgable and seemed to find every kink.

David had provided the best massages I have every received. He is a true professional. He can tell if you work at a computer all day, right or left handed, sleep on your stomach vs. back, and everything else. And he knows how to get every «kink» out to provide optimal stress relief. He doesn’t only give great massages, but also provide tips/​tricks to help with the problem areas people have. I highly suggest a visit to his very convenient office.

I’ve had severe back problems for almost 30 years and had surgery back in 1997. Finding an excellent massage therapist is critical to my everyday function. After searching for 6 months since moving to Charlotte, I am very happy to have found David Park. I actually found him through
and bought an online introductory offer that saved me $ 15 on my first session.
David is exactly as the other reviewers describe him. He took his time, got to know me and my reason for being there, and meticulously worked on my back like it was his own. It’s been 15 years since I had a massage therapist who was this good. I decided to get his 5 visit package. I might even buy a separate package for my wife.
If you need someone who will really take care of you, this is the place. I feel better than I have in a very long time.

I was visiting Charlotte and ended up with terrible back pain from being on the road, and needed a prenatal massage ASAP before getting on a cross-​country flight. I booked a massage with David at the last moment, I really had no idea what to expect, but he had availability. I get regular clinical massage, so I am kind of picky. He did a fabulous job, I have already passed his name on to my friends that are regularly in Charlotte. The office was clean and tranquil. He did a great job of focusing on my lower back, which is exactly what I asked for. I hobbled in to the office and I walked out. I would definitely recommend and use him again.

I started going to David years ago when he was at Modern Salon before he and his (now) wife opened their own place above my naturopathic doctor in a cute house in Elizabeth, and now is on Providence. He is both gentle and strong. He helped me get through some really bad neck pain caused by stress and an improper bike fit, which on a triathlon bike can wreak havoc in such a low aggressive position. He is generous with his time, is very zen, and just has a magical touch. He seems to «read» body reactions very well and he understands physiology and psychology very well. They have a variety of treatments. Next time I’d like to try a wrap.
I highly recommend David and think he is the best masseur in Charlotte. My only reason for not going to him on a regular basis? Pure and simple: Budget. When I’m a rock star, I’ll have him on retainer.
