Real-​life adventure game experiences where you can lose yourself in a lucid dream, race to uncover a supernatural relic, or investigate a sinister haunting. However, you and your friends have only one trip around the clock to find clues, crack codes, solve puzzles, uncover secret passageways and Be the Hero. That’s sixty minutes people, and every minute counts!

At Codescape, we’ve taken the escape room concept to a whole new level… Our design and build team has worked on themed entertainment projects such as ‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’ and ‘Halloween Horror Nights’ at Universal Orlando. We’ve applied our skills to create highly immersive environments with captivating scenery, special effects, soundscapes, storylines and multi-​sensory puzzles. So go on an adventure…

History

Established in 2015.

Codescape was born in March of 2015 when friends and business colleagues Nate Mitchell (myself) and Jordan Renda decided we wanted to pursue a new business venture together. After seeing the popularity of the escape room industry growing at an astonishing rate, we knew we could use our experience in entertainment design and business to create something really unique and special. After months of searching for a space that would fit our needs, we finally landed somewhere in early July 2015. Buildout is progressing and games are being designed as you read this, so check back in September for updates on our opening date. We hope to see you there!

Hi, Im Nate and I’m co-​owner of Codescape! I am very passionate about experiential entertainment and immersive environments. I am channeling my professional background and knowledge in themed attraction design to create a brand new guest experience. One of the things that really motivates me is seeing someone, whether young or not so young, enjoying something I have had a hand in creating from the ground up. If I have inspired but one person to follow a dream or take that risk, then I feel like I have done my job well.

Codescape is one of the best escape rooms in Charlotte! The rooms are very detailed and have cool effects! Puzzles were challenging but not to the point of frustration! We had three adults, a 10 year old and four teenagers… everyone was engaged and had a great time! It is a wonderful way to unplug and spend time with one another! Can’t wait to go back and try other rooms!

Awesome date night! My husband and I did The Residence by ourselves and had a great time. We got about ¾ of the way through before running out of time. I think if we had another couple with us we could maybe have solved the whole thing in the hour time. Regardless, it was super fun. Derrick, the staff guy, was friendly and helpful. The space was clean and they have free lockers for purses and jackets. Be warned and some things in this room are a little scary, but solving the mystery of a house that makes people insane should be. The I’d say this one would be perfect with 4 – 5 people. I think 8 would be too many, especially when you are just in room 1, which is quite small. Two people isn’t quite enough brains in the mix if you really want to solve it.

I did this on a date, and it a really fun/​unique experience. We were first-​timers and got paired with strangers who had done many escape rooms before. The entire group found it challenging and fun… we beat the room with less than 2 minutes to spare! I loved that Codescape offers rooms that are not scary. We did Shipwrecked, and the set/​props/​effects are very immersive… it felt like we were on a movie set. Staff was friendly, helpful and on-​hand to give us hints when requested (you get 3 clues). Definitely recommend!

SO MUCH FUN! And, not at all scary for those who might be worried it would be haunted house-​y like I was. Our group of 6 tried (and failed) the Shipwrecked room. We struggled in the first room as we got a feel for things. Word to the wise, don’t over think things or you’ll burn 20+ minutes in the first room just like we did.
The set/​scenery is top notch. Props in each room are fun and interactive. Every little detail was well thought out and a fun story accompanied the challenge.
We’ll be back for sure! I’m excited to watch new rooms be added and even try my hand at the shipwrecked room again. Maybe this time we’ll get through all the rooms in our 1-​hour window.
My only suggestion for Codescape would be to sell 2-​hour options or give customers a chance to «upgrade» or purchase more time in the room of they haven’t finished in 60-​minutes. We didn’t have anywhere to be the day we went and would have gladly paid for extra time to puzzle our way through the mission. :)

Great fun. Did it with the family after the holidays to break up the weekend and try something new. Have never done one of these before so I had no expectations.
We did the Residence, has a bit of a haunted house vibe to it. Goal was to find the way out in an hour. The ambience was really well done, from the look of the room and the sounds (It’s not just music, some sound effects are added in) and the puzzles were definitely tricky. There was even a good jump scare and a rather humorous joke in one of the clues. To make it even more challenging, some clues carried over to the next room.
We went with children as young as 10 and they handled it fine as some clues were easy for them, but you definitely want an adult or teenager for some of the clues.
Enjoyed it immensely and we are planning to go back and do the other room they have, Shipwreck.

The room and puzzles were fun and challenging! BUT absolutely make sure you get your own group!!! Working with another random group… HORRIBLE!!! We got stuck with two crazy couples that were fighting with each other and being rude and trying to be the «leaders». One girl really ruined the experience from me. Snatched clues out of our hands and fighting with her husband …

Highly recommend this terrific entertainment game space. Would have assigned a full FIVE stars but had to shave off just a little bit as the lighting wasn’t totally acceptable to the «older» folks (me!) in our group. Other than that, everything was amazing and totally enjoyable!
Can’t wait to do our next group outing «The Residents»! Thank you for putting so much effort into your gaming rooms.

I had so much fun playing Shipwrecked at Codescape! It was definitely challenging but a great time! The thought, creativity and detail that went into creating this game is of the highest quality. These guys are brilliant and it’s evident that they put in a lot of time and effort to create this masterpiece. It’s definitely worth your time to check it out. I can’t wait to play the other games when they open!

My team (a bunch of newbies) didn’t make it all the way through Shipwrecked but it didn’t really matter, as we were all having so much fun! The tasks are well laid out and we were able to work as a team to solve everything that we had time to do… Only a couple more steps and we would have had it! I thought it would be weird to do the puzzles with strangers, but it wasn’t bad at all. I can’t get over how detailed the tasks were and how well the entire thing was organized. A lot of thought and planning went into it. I could definitely see this sort of thing in a resort setting, so it was nice that Charlotte has one here, especially one this good. The sets, lights, sounds were perfect and I can’t wait to go back to try the other puzzles. Even keep thinking that I would like to bring my supervisory crew at work in to do some team building!!! Great place!!!

Our team had a great time at Codescape! When they said the rooms would be theme park quality, man did they deliver!
The puzzles were challenging (tricky at times) and extremely fun. We had a lot of great team building with our coworkers
