Blackhawk Hardware

Absolutely love this store! It’s a hardware utopia. If you cannot find it here you probably won’t. They have a little bit of everything and then some. It’s like a gigantic general store as well as a hardware store. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you have time stop in the store. Make sure you have some time to spare because you will probably be there awhile.

If you need something unique this is the place to go! Very helpful employees and awesome place to just walk around and look at stuff. Great business !

Nice store that seemed to have everything, so don’t let the name fool you. There are attendants on every aisle to help you find something, it was disconcerting at first (if you’re used to the terrible Service at the Lowe’s on south boulevard) but they aren’t pushy. It was an interesting browse on a weekday.

[cue movie guys voice]: «In a world of big-​box hardware stores…» Blackhawk Hardware hold’s its own against the Home Depots and Lowe’s stores in the area. Located in Park Rd Shopping center… they have a plethora of items — granted there won’t be as big a selection as a big box store, they still get the job done.
Always like stopping in here and getting lost in the aisles. Their store map, still seems a little crazy to me, but that is probably because I am so trained with the other store area/​department locations.
One thing that does set Blackhawk apart are its employees. They generally seem to want to help you instead of you chasing after some employee in a cavernous space.
Now Blackhawk I believe is a result of ACE Hardware merging with someone else, so they aren’t exactly a small mom & pop either. I’d say mid-​size is a better way to describe them. I’ve only really gone in to get small items… some replacement bolts, door knobs, a door mat… They also cut keys and sharpen tools for you.
Recently they’ve undergone a small remodel — their registers used to show their age, but I think their new setup (reminds me of a bestbuy) is a little bit better.

I came to Blackhawk for the first time to pick up an online order. My first impression was that the place is very well-​staffed and all of the employees are very helpful. My next impression was less favorable because it seemed like none of the employees were sure how to handle an online order pickup. After lots of initial confusion, an employee was summoned and brought out my order. He helped me transfer the items to a cart, and I started to head out. Another employee, the greeter, told me that I needed to check out after that. I had already paid online, so I chalked this up to another bit of employee confusion and headed for the parking lot. Here’s to hoping that they get used to that dag gum newfangled interweb soon!

15 minutes until close. Let’s check this place out. Small appliances? Wow, I did not expect that. Plus tons of kitchen gadgets. Lawn and Garden too? Paint department. Four people asked me if I needed help finding anything. That doesn’t happen in Lowes. That doesn’t happen at Home Depot. Everything is neat and well organized, not a screw out of place!
The cabinet/​decorative hardware section is really quite impressive! Great selection. A lot of these items would be special order items at most stores.
Although, the selection of other items in general is smaller than the big box competitors, the difference is the associates, their product knowledge and accessibility. At Blackhawk, you’ll never have to tackle an employee to get help!

Awesome selection of almost anything you need. Lots of staff around to help you find what you’re looking for.

The Blackhawk Hardware Gardens are fantastic!

Blackhawk Hardware if a treasure. I have been going there for years and surprised that I have never written a review. The service is extroadinary! There are employees in almost every aisle willing to help and they know exactly what you are looking for and always willing to give other options. And, I love the fact you can find unique things that you cannot find at your typical hardware store. And, they also have a lot of nick-nacks…love some of the kitcen items, fun napkins and glasses. An absolute treasure!
And, don’t forget to grab a bag of free popcorn on your way in, or out!

I go to Blackhawk with the most obscure questions, with parts that no one else carries, with problems about all kinds of hardware issues and they are amazing. This place has so much knowledgable help. Yesterday they replaced a lawn and garden item that broke without a single question; it was amazing. THIS is the best hardware store anywhere.

This place has everything. Pots to paint to bird houses! Anything you need, it’s most likely here. There are two downsides: a
1 — the constant number of employees sitting around the ends of aisles or kind of creepily watching you to make sure you aren’t stealing and 2 — the prices. Prices are much higher than other places. About 25% — 50% higher than other hardware/​home improvement stores. Stop in if you really need something or shop elsewhere.

This Place is Awesome and I am glad they did not use ACE HARDWARE in their signage, I am not a fan but this place has changed my mind. Clean, helpful staff, and have just about everything you need except for lumber due to space constrictions.
Seems to have a good Guy/​Girl balance of customers and funny thing is I was looking for a particular item at Lowe’s and they did not have iit, the salesman said you NEED to go to Blackhawk. Yes Lowe’s salesman sending me to Blackhawk. LOL
So I went and they did not have the item either but, it was a wonderful discovery moment,
I think I have a New Hardware store the wife and I can both enjoy going to.
The only reason for the 4 star rating if their prices because of location (?) a couple of items we purchased were about ¹⁄₃ more but convenience offsets the price for me.
So if you have not been, GO!

I was in Blackhawk today, and the sales people were very rude. The man who makes keys ignored me while he chatted with a friend, and he snapped at me when I asked him if he was the key maker. I left and got it done at the kiosk outside.
Then I went up front to return something and was treated extremely rudely by the woman who has worked there forever. She, too, snapped at me… loudly.
My sister heard me talking about this, and she said that she was there a week ago to return a small item and that this same woman saw her waiting but didn’t acknowledge her AND CONTINUED TO CHAT WITH HER FRIEND!!! She never did smile in the least for both myself and my sister. That’s just common courtesy for salespeople.

Still awesome with everything you want and more that you didn’t know you needed. It’s not as much selection as the big boxes but there is more help here from knowledgeable folks.
Nice area for pet supplies including dog leashes and treats. Big furniture department and lots of stuff for organizing.
I enjoy shopping here!

Mixed review for this store. I love the fact that it’s got a large selection of odds and ends. Christmas stuff is off the hook! Amazing hardware area that really appeals to those of us that own older homes. We went looking for a tiny little spring for an interior door mechanism and found a wall full of springs, yay for us (boo for Lowe’s). Good for wandering aimlessly too.
Now for the bad. I believe this is an Ace franchise which is totally okay in my book but they don’t advertise that fact so if you have an Ace card, you have to present it cause mostly they don’t ask. The prices are retarded. 14 dollars for a single plastic Christmas ornament. I get it, store is in South End/​park but really the prices are rediculous.

If you are looking for the coolest kitchen gadgets, bathroom accessories, items to fix random problems in your house, etc then this the THE place to go. They also have a huge selection of Christmas ornaments and gifts. You also get free popcorn to eat while you walk around. Great for kids. I am only giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the bathroom is ridiculously tiny and outdated and has no place to change a baby.

Blackhawk Hardware is the local neighborhood hardware stores that has all the nuts, bolts, odd and ends, thingy you could ever look for.
This is not the chain store that your going to find lumber at but more of a place where your looking for an off side nut or bolt, a different type of faucet figure or something that those «other guys» don’t have.
This is also the place to go if you have a Boy Scout/​Cub Scout and you need help/​knowledge to build a pine wood derby car. They have all the fix-​ens that you would need for your car. The rest is up to your creativity.
Sales folks are friendly if you can’t find something, ask, since you probably walked right by it.
And while your at it… meet a couple of your neighbors while your shopping.
Oh yea, The nice part. These folks are dog friendly.

Unfortunately we came on the wrong day and they were out of the gallon sized acid product we needed (around $ 8.99 for the gallon). When we asked if we could by 4 of the $ 4.99 quarts for the gallon price, the assistant manager absolutely refused, saying he’d lose money if he did that. We would have had to pay $ 20 for $ 8.99 worth. They are usually very high priced in every area, anyway, although I love the cool stuff you can find there. Needless to say, we left not buying anything, and went over to Little Hardware and got a gallon for $ 4.97

This place has everything. I stopped in to check out the grill accessories and found so much more. When you walk in they have a popcorn machine for you to enjoy a treat while you shop and the smell kind of gets you in the mood, you know?
The staff at Blackhawk are extremely helpful. I could walk 10 feet without someone asking me if I needed help. It was very nice. I tend to wander so it was nice to have someone to point me in the right direction.
Prices were high, on just about everything I looked at but considering the neighborhood and the clientele, the place obviously does ok.

Oh man… Blackhawk Hardware offers so much more than your typical Ace hardware store (of which they are affiliated with). Sure they have tools and garden stuff, but they also have tons of home goods and unique gift ideas.
Grab a *free* bag of fresh popped popcorn and start cruising the aisles. Every single employee I encountered was cheery and helpful. I found a bunch of stuff that I usually only find on Amazon. The prices may seem a little high, but shop local son!
