Nice atmosphere, pets are allowed which is always nice. We are fans of breweries and love the varieties offered in Noda and this one is a fave. There was a soul guitarist musician on a Saturday afternoon. And the free shelled peanuts is a plus!

Best beer in Charlotte plus free peanuts plus dog friendly = best brewery in town. Nice open space means the crowd is rarely an issue even during popular times. No televisions, so don’t come here to watch the game, but it’s a great place to meet folks without distractions.

This place is a gem. I went with a friend this afternoon for my first ever visit and will definitely be back the next time I’m in NoDa.
I loved the outdoor seating, which is definitely more spacious than it appears in photos. The entire place is very clean, and the inside is well air conditioned. The bar staff are friendly. I ordered the Jalapeño Pale Ale, a crisp and refreshing summer drink with a subtle hint of chili peppers. Though it didn’t have the chili kick I had expected I really liked the drink and would order it again the next time I visit.

Bird song was the FIRST brewing company I went to since I moved from the Mountains (craft brew city). This place is great and reminds me of some brews from home!
What truly makes Birdsong… what really ties it together is TINA! She is amazing. I mean what bartender tends to your fur babies as well as you! I told her what I liked in beer and Tina was slingn’ some great brews that matched my taste perfectly! She is the kinda bartender you feel like you’ve known your whole life!
I feel in love with the Nitro Higher Ground as well as Paranoid Android. I couldn’t ask for a better environment, brews, or bartender!

Great brewery! This place has a great atmosphere. The Mexicali stout is my favorite. It’s delicious.

Birdsong Brewing has 8 — 10 beers on tap at any given time, all of which are consistently good. A couple of my favorites include the MexiCali Stout; St. Tuber Abbey Ale and the About Thyme.
There are plenty of tables — community-​style and smaller — inside, as well as an excellent patio outside. You can grab a bucket of free peanuts just inside the door. Bring your (well-​behaved) dogs and enjoy a few brews!

One of my favorite breweries in Charlotte! They are now in a new location, which I enjoy, but my heart hurts for their old location sometimes. Beers are spot on and a staple in Charlotte! My favorite go-​to beer is the jalapeño pale ale! I’m also obsessed with their Mexicali stout, which we countdown to the release date every year as it is a seasonal. The staff is very friendly, which is a necessity in my opinion. It’s a great place for everyone, and we love taking friends here.

If Birdsong were Cocoa Puffs I would be cuckoo for them!
When I get home I’m going to wear a special hat that has one straw and holds two Growlers full of Higher Ground and sit very carefully balanced on a zero gravity lounge chair!

Since the beginning this has been my go to place for introducing out of towners to the craft beer scene of Charlotte. Such a friendly atmosphere and some of the best beer in Charlotte.
Now in their new spot closer to uptown and yet still in the NoDa neighborhood they have really been booming. They have now started canning so look out for their cans in your local craft beer store.
Birdsong really embraces the community with all that they do. They sponsor a local stream as well as many local events happening around the Charlotte area. They also really care about the craft beer scene and improving all aspects of it. They have their year round beers which are all truly unique and also stay releasing new beers very often.
This is a great place for a group and also a good place for just a couple to come hang out. They have free peanuts, they are dog friendly, and also have lots of board/​card games for entertainment. They also offer an extra space to host private gatherings.

Loved this place! Birdsong was a stop on a trolley tour that was planned for one of my best friend’s bachelorette party. The bartender was lovely– friendly, helpful, and more than accommodating of our larger group. The Jalapeño ale is fabulous. Love the outdoor seating area, which is complete with picnic tables and plenty of seating. Also, cant beat the gratis peanuts that are provided for snacking. We had such a great time at Birdsong. I only wish I lived closer so I could frequent it (and that my girlfriends all lived in one town so we could go back together all the time!). Definitely worth checking out if you are in the Charlotte area.

Birdsong’s new spot is a vast improvement over the old place. The bar is very nice and big. The outside space is wonderful for days like today. Inside you can still throw peanuts on the ground. Birdsong makes great Barrel Aged Belgian beers and when Honey Pie comes out you better get you some!

As a sign of the ever expanding Charlotte brew scene (trust me, it’s a good thing), Birdsong has expanded and moved to a new location. I have always loved their regular brewing lineup and the new space is definitely worth checking out.
The new taproom has a much more earthy and rustic feel than their old place. They blend a lot of natural wood in the space which gives a very unique character to the taproom. I’m also happy that they kept the free peanuts! Just don’t be a slob and toss them on the floor; they donate the shells as feed for local animals. I wonder if the do the same with their spent grain…
Anyways, onto the beer. The Higher Ground IPA is always a solid choice, however reach for the Jalapeño Pale Ale. If you asked me a few years ago whether spicy peppers belong in beer, I might have laughed in your face. However, their technique creates an amazing aroma and flavor (minus any heat) which I have readily ordered at too many bars over my lifetime.
Glad to see the new space is working out well and I can’t wait to see how they will further expand into the Charlotte market.

Second time visiting Birdsong. I’m a fan, I can say that for sure. I like the Mexicali Stout the best of their beers, and the Jalapeño Pale Ale is definitely interesting as well. The Brown Ale is a bit hoppier than I like, but not terrible.
I really like the wide open space on the inside with the chalkboard wall behind the bar that tells you what retailers you can find their beer at! The outdoor seating area is nice as well. Very nice, I like!

This new location is great!!! I have been to the old place and thought it was decent, but this spot is really nice. The staff is so friendly! The prices are absolutely agreeable and surprised me a lot. Food trucks come frequently, but make sure you are there early enough. The also have free peanuts!!! It can’t better than that! I can’t wait to go back!

Located just outside of downtown Charlotte, this brewery does it right. Great beers, decent prices, and an ambience to boot. Try the Mexicali Stout or the Jalapeño Pale… Both are top notch. They also can, so you can take some home with you. Buyer beware, I got lost in some creepy garden on the way back to my hotel, which may be more of a testament To the power of their brews than my crappy write-​up. Public school only gets one so far, I guess.

Birdsong is solid. Beer is better than average southeast fare… it’s really good until they try to do anything over 7%. Then they fade but then again… don’t most. The staff is cool and friendly and the free peanuts are a big plus but there is a down side… the other Charlotte patrons. They are not your typical chill craft brewery customers. This Sunday night they fall into two categories…
1. I’m so drunk and I want the world to know it…
Or
2. I’ve heard of «craft beer»…what is it?
Thank god for the peanuts… and the pretty good ales.

Snacks. What sets Birdsong apart are the communal peanuts and pretzels. Especially if there isn’t a food truck outside these really help fill the hunger pangs.
Whatever is seasonal– get that! Those are some of the best beers I’ve sampled in Charlotte. The one made with sweet potato and cloves is my favorite– St. Tuber Abbey.

Absolutely love their jalapeño beer. Delicious. Cool place, only bummer is literally that is all they have. Beer. No wine. No food. They had a guy playing music in the background on a Friday night, and it was extremely loud. So much so, that we could barely hear each other even when screaming across the table.
Decent prices. They did have a food truck sitting outside so you could order before you came in and they would bring it to you, so that helped. Again… the jalapeño beer. Yum.

Birdsong is the best! Seriously. The Charlotte beer scene is great, but Birdsong is the greatest of the greats. Especially this time of year (fall) when the St. Tubers and Mexicali are plentiful. The staff are friendly. (I’m happy to call a few friends, in fact!) The beers are great. And, while I miss their original tap room, the new spot is great, too. Outdoor seating is nice. The entire place is pet friendly.
Grab a beer, a bowl of peanuts and settle in! You’re going to want to stay for a while.

Boyfriend and I decided to split 2 flights:
Flight 1 — Free Will Pale, Jalapeño Pale, Long Bird Brown and Higher Ground IPA
Flight 2 — Saison, Fake Plastic Trees, Porter and 3 Little Birds Belgian Tripel
The Jalapeño Pale which was surprisingly decent, I think the low heat factor made this beer drinkable. As far as the flights went well flight 1 was alright, I definitely enjoyed flight 2 more. Favorites were the Saison and Tripel.
Complimentary peanuts and pretzels are available to snack on.
Con: the parking lot is a bit scary, it is a very tight fit & getting out onto Davidson can be a bit tough
Birdsong was a great way to start off brewery day in Charlotte!

A true to it’s name, Brewery.
This place is huge and wide open with a very laid back vibe. The service is excellent, the beers are wonderful and they have an outdoor patio! The patio has picnic tables, corn-​hole and often a food truck — plus you can bring your dog! And when you go home, they have cold 4-​pack cans available for sale!
Best Tip about this place: It’s just off the Sugar Creek Greenway so you can ride your bike there!

Great customer service, very knowledgeable and they are dog friendly! I have only been here one time, but that’s all I need to a make a good judgment on this place. I recommend taking the brewery tour for 3 reasons, 1. It’s free 2. You learn about the history behind birdsong and 3. The tour guide has a great sense of Humor. Not much else I can say about it except the brew is tasty, and you definitely need to check it out!

I loved the atmosphere of Birdsong Brewing, the dog vibe, free peanuts, picnic tables and open space, but if I can be honest, their beers didn’t measure up for me. The beers weren’t bad, they just can’t complete with Noda right down the street. Personally, I think they beat Noda in every other way, except for the beer part [which is really IMPORTANT for a brewery], Birdsong’s bathrooms are even cool and they’ve got BEER HOLDERS in every stall (not that I brought my beer into the bathroom, kinda gross, but it’s the thought that counts right?!)
I think Birdsong’s most well known beer is their Jalapeño Pale Ale. I expected a spicy beer and was surprised when I got all of the jalapeño taste and non of the flavor. It was a good beer, but don’t think I would drink two glasses in a row. Their Free Will Pale Ale was my drink of choice, but still it was a 3.5 on a scale of 5. Overall, they’ve got decent beer, but it’s the atmosphere [live music, huge outdoor area, cornhole, peanuts to snack on, dog friendly] that make this a great place to grab a drink with friends. I look forward to returning!

Although, none of the above claims can be fully substantiated, their beer is in fact awesome! Higher Ground IPA is one of my all-​time favorites! Really nice new facility that is definitely worth a visit!

Awesome new space!!! Checked it out the other night and I was not disappointed. I had heard good things and Birdsong definitely delivered. To be completely honest, I had no idea where they had moved until one day I was driving towards Noda and got rerouted with that detour and stumbled upon their new location.
There’s ton’s of room in the tap room with a unique spoke-​like high top setup and then lower tables skirting the outside of the floor next to the windows. So many windows! The light coming in from outside was nice as well as a nice connection with the outdoor seating area. The bar area (where the «spokes» are radiating from) super cool, tons of seating and chalkboard space to advertise their brews and what’s going on in the space.
I didn’t take a brew tour, but they look to have tons of space in the back and even a side selling area for merchandise (t-​shirts, etc).
Probably my biggest gripe in my first impression of their new digs is the parking lot. Maybe I just chose a bad night where everyone drove separately, but it was almost like a demolition derby out there. The parking lot out back is not necessarily connected to the front (most obvious lot), but there are still a lot of spaces. It also could have been their food truck setup for that night where the Imperial Sandwich Co took more spaces than needed. Other than that… great to have Birdsong in their new space (closer to uptown) and not right next door to NoDa. I did see some of the NoDa brew runners stop by here after their run (no judgement…) I’d probably do the same if the other tap room was super crowded.

Great light beers, with unique flavors and well crafted. Great for a refreshment on a warm day.
I love the laid-​back, casual atmosphere. The way the tables are laid out are a great way to keep the environment social, yet private at the same time.

Before you freak out, Birdsong didn’t go too far. The new spot is just down the street. The big difference: this new location is more than triple the size of the old one.
Big chalkboards behind the bar describe the beer selections. There are currently four year round beers here. The jalapeño pale ale is my favorite. Don’t be scared of the name, it doesn’t have a heat to it. I can only drink a couple of these at a time. I really love their Doin Thyme Spring-​Summer seasonal, too. I was super excited to this one at the BB&T Ballpark craft beer area. Birdsong releases a new small batch beer every Thursday for THURSty THURSdays. They also do free tours every Thursday at 6:30pm.
Birdsong has a nice little outdoor patio area. This is kind of an odd area, so don’t expect a big scenic landscape. The brewery is both kid and pet friendly. There are no TVs. If you’re looking to watch a game, you’re in the wrong place. They do not serve food, but there is usually a food truck on site. Check their Facebook or Twitter pages for info each day on that.
Kudos on the upgrade, Birdsong. I can’t wait to watch your brand continue to grow.

I’ve always been a fan of birdsong and the new location add a lot of what they really needed which was space for customers. They have a great patio where people can sit and play cornhole if they want. The beer selection is much as it was and you can get a pitcher of their IPA for 12 $ which is probably one of the best deals going for a great beer.

I visited the new location recently and it is awesome. While I do miss the charm of the old taproom which was closer to the middle of NoDa, this new place is really excellent and totally necessary to be able to accommodate the growing demand for the delightful Birdsong beer.
The parking situation is pretty decent. Keep in mind the place just opened so of course it’s going to be a bit crowded for a while. They have their own lots and unless it’s totally packed you can find a spot without too much hassle. If you can’t find a place in their lot, you can hop across North Davidson street and find something.
As you walk into the taproom, you’ll see an area immediately to the right that is set up for live music. I noticed that we had trouble hearing the music from the opposite end of the taproom so if you come to listen, try to stay close by.
There are community tables set up in the middle of the place which makes for a great environment to meet up with a group of friends or meet some new ones. The bar is off to the left and is well-​sized to suit the needs of the customers. I was able to get a beer pretty quickly despite it being very crowded on a Saturday.
So enough about the setup, the beer is where it’s at. Jalapeño Pale Ale is a must-​try for anyone, ever. It’s unique and delicious. Do not be intimidated by the fact that it contains jalapeño flavors, it’s not hot. Some other good ones are Higher Ground IPA, Free Will Pale Ale, and Lazy Bird Brown. They do seasonal and small batch stuff as well.
One key thing to note: they have no TV’s here. If you want to drink and watch a game, come by and get a growler and take it somewhere else. The lack of TV’s is by design, they want people to focus on interacting with each other and not on a screen. I appreciate that and hope you will too!
Bottom line: this is one of the best craft breweries in Charlotte and worth a visit, whether you’re a local or an out-​of-​towner. Salud!

So Birdsong recently moved to a new location down the street and just outside of Uptown. The new location is 3 times the size of their old location which I usually found claustrophobic. The area is a bit questionable but it has potential to change with all of the apartments being built nearby.
The new space is beautiful. There is a large bar with seating for at least 12. There are two large tables in the middle of the taproom and and small tables along the walls. The large tables legs are made from actual tree limbs. The same goes for the foot rest at the bar. Very creative.
The menu is a large chalkboard above the bar. And they list the places you can find their beer around town as well on the chalkboard.
The staff is great here. I remembered them from the other location. And the beers are good. The Lazy Bird Brown is my favorite here and I do not normally like brown ales.
One note on parking… Since they are still new, parking can be a challenge here but there is a lot behind the building as well but you have to drive around via the neighborhood roads.

1^st, lol! Love the new location. Plenty of room and nice patio out front.
I only made it to the old location a couple times and its been a while, so its hard for me to compare. This location seems larger and nicer. They have a huge chalkboard behind the bar that shows all the amazing restaurants and bars that feature their beers. Above all that they have the beers on tap written. I was a little disappointed that they only had 5 available, but 4 out of 5 were pretty hoppy which right up my alley. I guess I just assumed they had more year round beers, I just hadn’t tried them yet.
Of course I ordered a higher ground. Its my go to. A smooth beer for 7%. My date went for the flight. She absolutely loved the jalapeño pale and ordered a pint after the flight. She didn’t seem all that impressed with the brown or the others. I took a sample of the Say it to My Face red double IPA. It wasn’t bad, but it just wasn’t my thing. I was told they release a new seasonal every Thursday, I’ll have to make it back for that.
Good beer, convenient location, and a chill crowd. There isn’t much more you could ask for. I’d say this is more of 4.5 stars, but I’ll round up because I love that we are getting so many great local beers. I’ll have to re-​visit some of the other breweries in town to make the final call if this truly a 5 star establishment.
