History
Established in 1983.
The Rainbow Shoppe was a vision of a Local Pastor and 10 of the area churches primarily to provide the need of affordable goods to the low income homes in our area. Thus began the planning stages of the shoppe.
The Rainbow Shoppe opened its Doors on June 7, 1983 at 115 Antrim Street.
Volunteers came on board from those churches to stock shelves and serve customers.
A Full time Manager was hired to handle the day to-day operations of the store.
Only two short years later with the Antrim location bursting at the seams the shop relocated to

In those 21 years the Shoppe continued to grow and hired a small team of employees to help handle the ever increasing donations and expand the ministry.

Manager
I have had an active role in the Rainbow Shoppe since hired to be the part-time Manager’s Assistant in 1990.
My previous experience was a buyer and sales in retail hardware with education in marketing and police administration.
There was much to learn and the previous Manager Joe was a great leader.
I took on the Managers Job in January 1996 and continue to learn and grow with the change in our economy and changing times.
It was a awesome hands on education to learn the various expects of running a Thrift Shop. The sorting, cleaning, testing and keeping the donations organized is a Full Time Job.
The Best part is the customers that I meet at both the donation door and on the sales floor. Taking the time to listen to customers, and keeping in tune to the needs in our community is my key role as manager .
The rewarding part is to know that the work we all do, provides for outreach and mission work in our community.
I am also Worship leader of our church and enjoy camping.
