It’s food. Absolutely nothing special about this place. Broccoli chowder was well done. Cod tacos were good. I guess if you want good food this place works but it’s guest a typical family restaurant.

I go here very regularly on Thursday’s for trivia. Minus all the trivia cheats, the place is great. $ 2.25 Bud Selects, wings that are out of this world(When cooked properly) and the free popcorn is the perfect compliment. Sit at the bar for a fun time as Paul the bartender makes you feel right at home. The ice cream deserts are better than anything Friendly’s has to offer. Food items that are worth a try, fish taco’s, pub dip, Burgers, Turkey Tips. I would give it a 5 star but the appetizer menu is limited and sometimes the chicken wings are under cooked. You need to order the wings well done or you will receive at least one under cooked wing. The typical bill for dinner when drinking Bud selects is less that $ 25/person. Can’t beat it!

Went here for a team outing to celebrate! Tracy took care of us right from the start by bringing over two huge bowls of popcorn! We went with the Gold fever wings since you cant get anything like it!!! I went with the turkey tips combo however Tracy let me know that I could pick two sides with my combo –but when it came out there was only 1 side choice :(I wish she had let me know because Im still thinking of that corn a day later! They were out of the house tequila so we couldn’t cash in on the $ 3.99 margaritas but the $ 6 ones we got were still much cheaper than anyplace in Boston! We will be back for sure! Especially since we forgot our coupon — Tracy said it would be valid for awhile but it actually expires tomorrow :(

Whether you are a townie, toonie, or tourist, 99 is just a fun time. The menu is decent. They have options which will please most appetites including vegetarians. I had the sirloin steak rare with fries and broccoli. The steak was cooked perfectly, the fries were serviceable. The atmosphere is perfect for families and friends who just want to go out for drinks and apps. Great place to go watch a game.

I always come here on the weekend when I’m too lazy to cook. The food has been okay but yesterday, my bacon and cheese burger was PERFECT. I ordered medium well and it was exactly medium well; slightly pink in the center but still hot. Delicious! On my visit before, I was asked how my burger was which was overcooked. The manager proceeded to comp my order even after I adamantly declined. The customer service is always good. I like that it’s the same bar servers and they make it a point to get to know you and your usual order which I appreciate. I was in the mood for a shot and asked my server Stephanie about the whiskey selections. I requested Jack Daniels Honey and she suggested having it with lemon which was a first for me. Definitely made it go down smoother so I’m glad she made that suggestion; I ended up getting another one! I’m currently drinking the house Margarita for 3.99 which made with Jose Cuervo! The price on the beer and alcohol are great; my shot was $ 6. Plenty of bar seating, clean bathrooms, and huge TVs for entertainment. They recently took down the wall that separated the bar and dining area and it definitely makes the space feel larger.

My family has visited 99 Restaurants several times over the past year and we’ve always had a very enjoyable night, but hadn’t visited the Charlestown location until 2 weeks ago. Thought about doing a negative review after our 1st visit, where neither the service or the food was up to par, but went there with my daughter and her friend last night and was equally unimpressed. Doubt we’ll be going back to this location again Starting with 2 wks ago first. 20 minutes after being seated I had to call the attention of a passing waiter as no one had come to take our order. When waitress came to take order offered no popcorn, even though she did give to other tables which she served nearby. When drinks arrived 2 of the 4 were incorrect, Diet Regular Pepsi instead of Diet Pepsi and Sierra Mist instead of ginger ale. French fries with all 4 meals were not hot and steak was under cooked. Asked for well done and was no more than medium, my wife waited for waitress to show so she could send it back but she didn’t reappear until everyone had finished, so she ate it cold as we were going to a Bruins game. Last night I revisited with my daughter and her friend, to see if maybe we had caught them on a bad night the 1st visit. While the food was better the service was even worse. Again offered no popcorn and every time waitress delivered food or picked up plates from table she was more engaged in having a conversation with friends at a nearby table, so much so that when she brought coffee to our table she never even noticed that she spilt some on the table and my daughter’s coat which was beside her on the seat. We didn’t notice until we were in the car going home when my daughter smelt it on her sleeve. I would have complained but, 10 minutes after leaving the bill she never reappeared so I left a $ 5 tip on an approx $ 80 bill and left

Service is great here but food is decent. It’s pretty much like every chain restaurant.

My first time back after over 15 years. Came here for some burgers with friends. Most of us ordered medium rare except one of us ordered a medium. all our burgers were over cooked. we were starving and didn’t want to wait another 20 more minutes so we just told the waitress it was fine and that we’d still eat it. she came over later and told us that she removed it from the bill which was unexpected. I would have given a 4 star if it was right from the get go but happy to offer 3 since service was better than i’d expected. We ordered burgers to go and it came out right. We also tipped her well for good service.

My boyfriend and I love it here… I’m not sure why. Probably because it’s so close by. They have a few horrible servers,(Stephanie. I asked her for a dessert menu two months ago and I’m still waiting) never have anyone at the service desk to seat you, and ALWAYS forget the free popcorn. But we keep going back. The food is good(chicken tenders are awesome) and our food and drinks usually come out pretty quickly. Carry out is always quick too

Bar was great until the bald bar tender took over. My drink was never refilled, he never responded to my thanks or pleases. He also would not allow us to drink more because we were loud, during a sports game of all occasions. Extremely disappointed in the bar tending staff, will not allow the bald man to serve us again. Shame.

Now that Ross is gone, my drink is always empty. While sitting at the bar, one should not have to wave to a bartender to get a drink that’s been empty for 10 mins. This place is now hardly better than Ironsides.

+ Food is great and very affordable. + Noise level is never an issue. + Waitress, Megan is awesome! + Location: T-accessible — Went as soon as they opened one morning and had to wait longer than usual for our food. Still, service was great! Staff is friendly. Overall, thumbs up!

I rarely go to these type of chain restaurants cause I’m a giant food snob. But I was stuck in charlestown and had an hour to kill and needed something to eat. I was very pleasantly surprised. The service and food were higher than I would expect from a applebees/chiles type affair. I got the braised turkey tips and they were better than I’ve had at other, fancier, restaurants. The turkey was not cooked to death. My wife got the chicken finger salad and that was good too. The chicken was more of the strip variety instead of the big wide heavily battered fingers you usually see at these restaurants. Our server was also great. We told her we didn’t have a huge amount of time so she brought out our checks and desserts quickly without missing a beat. The 4 dollar margarita is also solid. It is reasonably strong and doesn’t taste completely fake.

On our last day in the Boston area we decided to go with something less formal. Thought we were just walking into another chain restaurant but we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered a healthy lunch of glazed salmon, steamed broccoli, grilled tomatoes and asparagus. The presentation on the oblong plates only added to the delicious meal. Our lunch was topped off with a delicious dessert of apple crumb cake with ice cream. Yum, yum!

Alright restaurant. Although the waitress did give me and my date the wrong bill, then proceeded to disappear. We had to ask another waiter to go get her.

I got there at 10:50PM on a Saturday and went to the bar. The bartender told me they were closed. 10 minutes is plenty of time to drink a beer.

Run of the mill American food. The food tastes mainly better than other places like Outback Steakhouse and Chilies but it’s not as good as Applebee’s or Red Robin. So in other words. it’s average. The best thing about this one is the fact that it’s right next to the college so when I’m starving. I’ll just drop by after class and have a decent meal. The prices are a little expensive but bleh. I had their Lobster Roll which was much much more roll than lobster. I substituted the fries for the mashed potatoes. and it was a big mistake. The mashed potatoes was disgusting. and super garlicy… bleh

Prose does not befit why this 99 deserves better, so I’ll leave it to rhyming couplets. The volleyball team Kicked ass once again You enter strong With five sweaty friends Bad beer is cheap Four-fifty and full Free popcorn, you say? Don’t choke on the hull The fare fares fair If you know what to get Chowder ain’t bad Turkey tips, a safe bet Opt for chick tenders Then dip in Gold Fever All it takes is one bite You’ll be a believer And I love the servers Because they bust chops Smile, respond, Don’t side with the cops Look at that, I even got a crime reference in there. Seriously, this is the Thursday stop post-BSSC sports. Patty is so cool, we wait for her station to open a table. Chains are chains, but the service is their bread & butter.

For those naysayers of this particular Ninety-Nine, I counter with this, take it or leave it: It’s a chain, so the menu is going to be the same in pretty much any Ninety-Nine you go to. Even the daily soup specials don’t change from location to location. The pictures on the walls: the same. The clientele: well, different, technically… but really, the same. What I love about this particular Ninety-Nine is the great service. And couple that with great specials($ 10.00 for a three-course dinner, for instance, including dessert), it’s a no-brainer. I have had nothing but great experiences at this restaurant, with attentive service no matter what.
