History

Established in 1997.

I started giving tours in 1996 for Olde Towne Carriage — most guides break into the business through the carriage industry. I loved working with the horses, and a carriage, with four bench seats, is a mini mobile theatre. As a Music and Theatre major at the College of Charleston, it resonated with me and I felt like I had found my calling. I also gave hundreds of tours that first year, allowing me to hone my craft.

Realizing it was something I wanted to do for a living, my wife and I opened this walking tour business in January of 1997. I feel so fortunate to have made that decision. Almost 20 years, and over 10,000 tours later, I still LOVE my job.

Tommy D.

Business Owner

I’m Tommy Dew, and I’m the owner and the tour guide. I’ve been married for twenty years, and my wife and I have three children. We live, work, go to church, go to school, and pretty much spend most of our lives in downtown Charleston. We are so fortunate to live in a place that is consistently voted one of the top destinations in the world. There is so much to see, I hope I get the chance to show you around and offer my local insight.
