History

Established in 2011.

the Taco Spot started in 2008 at our West Ashley location in Charleston. We were fortunate enough to expand to downtown Charleston in 2011 & opened our to go location at 221 ½ Coming Street. We have 2 picnic tables out back for our customers to dine during beautiful Charleston days. We’re known for our famous fish tacos but we have chicken, steak, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free & breakfast options as well! Order online from your iPhone or Android device or call ahead for pick up to avoid waiting during peak business hours. We are locally owned & operated, pay above minimum wage & employ amazing local people. We appreciate your business If at any time you are unsatisfied with your food or our service, please tell us & allow us the opportunity to correct any & all issues before posting a negative review online. Thank you! Sincerely, JV, Lindsey, Family & Staff

Meet the Business Owner

Jason C. V.

Business Owner

A 1996 graduate of Johnson & Wales with an Associate of Culinary Arts degree, Jason has worked in Charleston’s restaurants since 1994. These restaurants include Garibaldi’s, Café Suzanne, Mondo’s Delite. He was also the chef/owner of La Cocina in Folly Beach. Jason has worked with Caroline Bevon of Catering By Caroline.

Outside of Charleston, I was the general manager of the Purple Onion in Saluda, North Carolina, and general manager of the Mountain Haus in Angel Fire, New Mexico.

My experience in New Mexico exposed me to various forms and applications of dry rubs. Being from South Carolina, I am heavily influenced by Southern cuisine. Along with my love for Mexican food, I have put these worlds together through my approach of cooking in the Taco Spot, serving– East coast tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. Please come check us out and taste what everyone’s talking about — simple, delicious, and very creative.
