Sea Star Nails & Spa

I have visited nail spas all over this country, the Sea Star Nails & Spa nail salon is one of the nicer spas. It is clean. Appointments are easy and honored… which is to say they are on time. The employees were kind and welcoming and very helpful.
I saw Scott for the SNS technique and Hong for a pedicure. Both were excellent technicians and super sweet.
Now for the bad news. Scott told me SNS was a much stronger material than the acrylic technique and that it was actually good for your nails… NOT!!! I had grown out my natural nails over the course of several months and they were finally fairly healthy. However, my natural nails have always been very thin and have been prone to tearing, thus I started with the acrylics. I had tried a few different «nail strengthening systems but they weren’t helping so I was ready to go back to the acrylics and made the appointment with Scott who sold me on the SNS.
One of my nails chipped within 3 or 4 days and then another and another until I had 4 nails in bad shape and a little lifting of a couple others. I went back to Scott and had him do a whole new set, wanted to give it another try. It was ridiculous. 2 chipped in just a couple days. Scott told me several times to call him if I needed repairs, no problem, no charge. I called and got in to see him and his attitude had changed completely. He was late for the appointment and began my repairs while still working with another client. It took nearly an hour to have 2 nails repaired and he wasn’t very kind about it. I didn’t even tip him, which I would normally do for a repair.
After a week, 5 nails had chipped and one tore down to the quick. I chipped off all the SNS product and what I found underneath was a dry, brittle nail bed that was pealing like papery bark from a birch tree. I was right back to my nails being extremely damaged and now they are raw from all the ripping that occurred when I took off the product. This is not good for your nails and, while it is simpler and quicker than acrylics, I would never do it again, nor would I return to this salon. Too bad, such a lovely atmosphere and initial experience.

This nail salon is so clean and perky. The staff is always so accommodating and friendly. Do yourself a favor and treat yo self to a pedi mani at this place. I’ve come a few minutes before closing before with a friend and they stayed open and gave us mani and pedis with wine! We stayed about an hour past close!

Hands down the best place in town! Got my first SNS manicure and I am hooked. 3 weeks, no chips, no cracks and still in perfect condition! Scott is my favorite. I followed him from nails so dep in MP to this new salon. Worth the drive if you are not in James Island.

Got into a chair right away but waited a half hour until the water went cold and finally left. It was clear no one was going to get to me any time soon. If they had told me honestly up front it would be at least a half hour I could have chosen to stay or go instead of leading me to believe that they were about to get to me. Barely acknowledged me when I left. Will not be back. Other reviews were misleading.

Went on NYE without an appointment and although they were busy, I was immediately taken to a chair to pick out my gel color. They did a great job on the manicure and I think their prices are great. I will definitely be back to try a pedicure and the SNS manicure. Great addition to JI!

Visiting from CT we went here because it’s close to where we are staying. Very nice job on the pedi manis. I would go back.

I made an appointment and was helped right right when I got there. I usually get a gel manicure. I tried the SNS manicure instead. And so far… I’m a big fan! It’s been almost a week. No chips. No lifting. The color is amazing. I have had a ton of compliments on my nails. And they had a guaranteed that if it chipped… To come back! This was my first time at this salon. It is easy to find. Ample parking and very clean. It has a relaxing atmosphere. And the staff were friendly. Definitely recommend for a manicure!

Would never recommend this place. Went in with a friend for the first time. There is no actual front desk however we were greeted. We both just wanted a candy apple red… pretty standard color. Instead one girl tried to up sale my friend right off the bat and I was given an overwhelming basket of color swatches. Once we sat down, they asked us if we wanted wine or a mimosa — we both said mimosa but I was given the grossest white wine while my friend got what she asked for. While this was all happening the girl working on my friend would not stop haggling her about getting a more expensive treatment. When someone says no, lay off. When she kept saying no, they continued to talk crap about her in a different language.
I got gel nails and while in between drying, I accidentally took my hand out. The guy working on mine snipped at me «what are you doing? Put your hand back in there». All the while a third employee who seemed like the manager hovered over our area. Not the most relaxing experience I’ve ever had but I guess I can’t expect much as they’re not a spa. Not impressed.

Love this place! Got the sns nails and they are amazing! Also great pedicure with mimosas to boot! Scott is great and did an fantastic snowflake design on my toes for my company Christmas party.

Completely new to the sns nails but I got it done by Scott who was super sweet! Love the locations and they did a great job!

If you love gel try SNS. Bronson and Scott do an amazing job and it’s much better for your nails. They also provide complimentary beverages which adds to the overall experience of manis/​pedis.

Happened to be the only client for pedicure and fill in today but only for a short time. Tried the new «powder» nails so far so good. Friendly & professional staff. Not my first visit been going every 3 weeks since the opened

My sister and I had the best experience here! The two guys who helped us were so friendly and our nails turned out great! Definitely come here if you want quality nails and a wonderful experience :)

I didn’t have an appointment & walked right in with my sister & her little girl. We were greeted immediately, picked out our polish & our pedicures started right away. We were offered all types of beverages including wine & mimosa’s.
I had the best pedicure I’ve ever had! Not one time did it hurt & the leg/​foot massage was excellent. Communication was not an issue & the prices are great.
The nail salon was very clean & smelled good. No headaches from bad fumes!
I don’t live here anymore but I visit with my family often. I will definitely be back!

They take their time, detail oriented, sanitary, and speak English fluently. My toes look great, and the massage felt great. Will be returning.

My husband and I decided to try this place while on vacation in SC. It was clean and everyone was very friendly. Kenny did my manicure and did an excellent job. The next time I would try the dipping powder manicure. I would definitely recommend this place.

I tried out Sea Star Nails today for the first time and had a great experience. The customer service was wonderful– everyone was pleasant and I never felt ignored or rushed. They actually listened to what I wanted and fixed my nails that were kind of a mess from another salon. I even got to enjoy a mimosa during my manicure– I definitely recommend this spot!
