I am sprinkles over sundae(head over heels) for Jeni’s. She took my heart and gave it back to me in the form of sweet, gourmet ice cream. Just know that if you try the Brown Butter Almond Brittle, you won’t want to order any other flavors.(But you might because you’re an epicure and it is your duty to the foodie society). It has it’s own cult following and I’m proudly a part of it. My husband has also picked up a pint of the Sweet Potato Praline and it was out of this world, as well. The house-made cones deserve an award of their own. From watching my friends’ faces light up at their own individual flavors of choice, I think I can safely say that you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu here. Additionally, they offer buttermilk frozen yogurt and a selection of sorbets for those of you looking for something different. Yes, it is not cheap, but you don’t get fresh, artisan ice cream like this for a couple bucks. If you aren’t serious about ice cream, I suggest to you Baskin-Robbins or Marble Slab. The«bright flavor and clean finish» of a double scoop of any of many flavors at Jeni’s is much too complex for your dull taste buds. Please let the rest of us enjoy every last drop of our extra-bitter hot fudge, honey butterscotch, and salty caramel sauce in peace. Farewell, Felicias.

Wow! Wish we knew about this place sooner. We passed it at least three times and kept going. The big letters say Jeni’s so we repeatedly missed the ice cream part. At any rate… We had the Darkest Chocolate and the super awesome Brown Butter Almond Brittle. It was so that we both had it, for a total of two scoops of chocolate and three scoops of the BBAB. You need to get this NOW, omg it was so flippin’ good! The waffle cone is also dynamite! Ice cream’s expensive but we’ve paid for ice cream in a lot of places and this is worth it. However, we did notice how expensive ice cream was in NC and SC relative to all other places in the world. What gives? We visited another ice cream shop on Market St. and it was as delicious but more for the buck. $ 12

So in the mood for some ice-cream on a hot mid-summer afternoon where humidity is such you can drink the air; scorched by the lack of shade usually offered by earlier or later parts of the day along King St. Well if on the 500 block yo are in luck. Jeni’s offers LIKE-REALLYREAL home made Ice cream. Bizarro combos what would make Ben and his bud Jerry’s head spin; you would think at first, who the blazes would put those two ingredients together; but after a free sample(on a stainless steel mini-spoon no less) you may see(or taste) things quite different. I went for a small portion(comprised of two scoops of up to 2 different ice creams) and served either on a cone or in my case a biodegradable cup and similar spoon that will not poison our earth with estrogen disruptors(plastics for those out of the know). Come prepared to spend some cash. Least expensive cup of cream is still $ 5.00. So worth it on a blazing hot day. Hats off to Jessica behind the counter. :)

This is pretty damn good ice cream. A good mix of standard flavors and flavors that make you go huh? but then make sense a little more once you taste them. Its nice and smooth and melts at just the right rate as you’re eating it. Pricey for ice cream, but worth it.

Fifteen minutes before closing at 11pm, Jeni’s still has a line that snakes out the door. I can see why, as it might have been the best ice cream I’ve ever had. I got the two most popular flavors, almond brittle and salty caramel, and they went really well with each other. The ice cream was so creamy and flavorful. And the cup-serving comes with a small little wafer. You get the best of both a cup and a cone!

I was out on King Street one Wednesday night and the smell of waffle cones overtook me. It was late and I knew I shouldn’t have ice cream. I hadn’t ever heard of Jeni’s before, but the waffle cone smell was wonderful so I figured I would just poke my head in and see what flavors they had. I started slowly tallying the interesting and unique flavors on the board. Which ones did I want to try?!? I tasted the churro, but ultimately I got one scoop of cherries jubilee and one of the reisling poached pear sorbet. So So Delicious!!! It was just the right snack for the walk back. Yum!

I thought Jeni’s was wonderful. They have such a fantastic and unique selection of ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet flavors. It’s excellent qualityand I love that they give you a waffle cone piece when you order a cup. It’s a nice touch. The Brambleberry Crisp ice cream was so tasty. It also comes in a frozen yogurt flavor, which was also delicious. Another favorite of mine was the Lemon Blueberry frozen yogurt. I tried the Churro as well, because how could you not? That one was ok, but very heavy on the cinnamon, which I didn’t care for. Definitely give Jeni’s a try if you are in the mood for a sweet, refreshing treat. So much to choose from, so you really can’t go wrong!

All you have to do is look at the line coming down King St on any warm weekend night to know how good this place is. If you’re willing to stand in line 15+ minutes here, and endure the drunken throngs streaming past, then not only do you have dedication, but you also have some foodie dedication. Luckily, the payoff is worth it with a mix of unique standard and seasonal ice creams and sorbets that treat the frozen treats as an art. Once you do finally move up in line, and into the store, a scooper will let you sample any or all flavors. Take the time(it’s still gonna be awhile before you get to the register) and explore some new flavors, you may just find a new favorite. You can get a single(which is up to 2 half scoops of different flavors) a double or the study to mix or match flavors as you like. Get it in a waffle cone for an extra $ 1, but note even the cup comes with a very crunchy piece of waffle cone to use as a makeshift spoon or to give your dessert some extra crunch. You can also choose to get your order as a sundae– whereby you can add sauces, toppings, and whipped cream. Don’t miss the option for an ice cream sandwich, either. Sometimes, though, the flavors alone are good enough to be enjoyed without the need for any extra distractions– Jeni’s falls into that category. Bravo.

I hate to go against the grain here, but I’ve had much better ice cream elsewhere. Yes, it’s nice that they try to bring new/creative flavors to educate picky palates but some fall flat and others are far too rich for me to find a balance. I don’t have anything«bad» to say about Jeni’s but it doesn’t live up to the hype for me or my friends who’ve visited several times with the same experience. I’ll be on the lookout this summer for the best ice cream joint in town but if you’re downtown and looking for a cool treat this isn’t a horrible option. I would just share one small and try out something else nearby as well.

I came here for a Unilocal Elite event and fell in love. They have so many flavors to choose from OMG! They will let you taste as many as you want and will tell you all about the concoctions too. You can get the scoop specials, a sundae with scrumptious toppings, or even an ice cream sandwich. Rest rooms are clean and there’s plenty of seating inside. Lines seem to be non-stop, but the staff are fast and very friendly. You’ll need to find a metered parking spot on the street, or park in one of several garages nearby. This is a destination spot unto itself. If you eat a meal before and stop here for dessert, you’re not going to have enough room to fit it all in!

That scene in Ratatouille when the critic is mentally/emotionally transmitted back to his childhood… That wasn’t my experience because Jeni doesn’t have blue bubblegum ice cream, but it was much better! There are more gourmet flavors than you can shake a stick at. The bourbon salted pecan & milk chocolate with roasted almonds were exquisite.

Jeni’s is the absolute best. Several times I have found myself walking along king street at night, planning on going out to the bars, and then I pass Jeni’s. So I obviously have to walk in. My only problem I have here is that there are so many delicious favors it’s so hard to decide. For me the small is plenty, because the ice cream is so rich and you get to pick two flavors! My favorite flavor is the dark chocolate and then I like to mix it with something something different. Either the brambleberry crisp, mint chocolate or salty caramel. The bourbon salted pecan is also amazing! Definitely try out Jeni’s!!!

idontgetit. What’s with the hype?(This ice cream is so mediocre that I feel bad for anyone who thinks this is good??? ok joy quit being a bitch.) I want my ice cream to taste like the ingredient that the flavor highlights. The only scoop that did it for me was the seasonal sweet potato pecan praline. Pistachio and honey was also ok. But wildflower lavender tasted synthetic, and darkest chocolate reminded me of that one time I bought a cheap 80% bar in a supermarket that was not only gritty but also sour. I enjoyed the waffle cone though.

Just came back from this place. Not bad, but not the best ice cream I’ve ever had. I ordered a trio(three small scoops for 6 dollars) of wildberry lavender, darkest chocolate, and salted chocolate peanut butter. The wildberry lavender stole the show: it was delicious and just tart enough to be good. The darkest chocolate was mostly mocha, which is a disappointment for a dark chocolate enthusiast such as I. And the salted chocolate peanut butter suffered from Pepsi syndrome: the sample I had was fantastic, much like the first sip of Pepsi. After that, the saltiness dominated the taste of the flavor, and what was once sweet became too savory too fast. The best part about this place is probably the icebreaking fortune cookies that they gave us with our purchase! These waffle cones, shaped like fortune cookies, contain entertaining open-ended questions that make for good conversation topics.

I’m from Columbus(the birthplace of Jeni’s) and was in town visiting my boyfriend. I have since moved to Arizona which is devoid of the wonderfulness that is Jenis and just had to come here during my visit to Charleston. When living in Columbus, this is the place I took all my out-of-town visitors. Jeni’s never disappoints. I love their rich and creamy ice cream base and their bold, creative flavors. Yes, it’s pricier than a lot of ice cream joints, but you are getting, in my opinion, a more premium product. If you are purely a strawberry, vanilla, chocolate ice cream type of guy or gal, you will probably find something you like, but it may not be worth the price. Definitely worth a try if you have never been. And don’t be shy about trying before you buy!

I scream. You scream. We all scream for ice cream? Well we did at Jeni’s because it was just that good. I come from New York where we have artisan small batch ice cream wherever we go but Jeni’s really know what’s up. The décor is unique with chevron walls to please the southern belles and wooden tables to give it that quirky twist. Once you enter there is a huge chalkboard with today’s flavors including the regular and limited edition ones. Their flavors were very unique and I decided to settle on 2: brown buttered almond brittle and sweet potato pecan praline in a cake cone. Both were pretty on point with chunks of almonds and pecans in the respective flavors. There were even small sweet potato chunks as well. All in all, I would definitely make a stop here if I came in Charleston again even if it means going out of the way — because it is just that good.

Okay so everyone’s always loving on Jeni’s but hating on the price. Where have people been. Ice cream is expensive as shit these days. You’ll see almost the same prices at a Cold Stone or Baskins any day. I’ve been to other Jeni’s locations and they’re great too, but I love this Charleston one. The location is perfect(minus parking), the décor is super cool, and they have plenty of space to hang out and indulge or take it on the go. I’ll always love chocolate as the ice cream supreme, but Jeni’s flavors give chocolate a run for their money. I haven’t tasted one yet that I didn’t like and I even tried to do so. They once offered me a sample of the goat cheese and cherries one to which I replied with my hatred of goat cheese. She convinced me that it didn’t taste like the cheese of goats so I gave it a whirl. It straight up tasted like delicious cherry cheesecake. So basically they even make me love things I don’t like… nice work Jeni. Yes you can say the flavors reek of hipster froufrou ingredients but the woman has a God Damn James Beard Award… the ice cream is fucking delicious!

I love any establishment located in King street in historic Charleston. How did they manage to fit all theses awesome restaurants in this very cool row of restaurants and shops??? Jeni’s ice cream totally belongs here. The service was super friendly and helpful. The selection and quality of ice cream were phenomenal. I tried the salted peanut butter with chocolate specs with dark chocolate ice cream. The combination was perfect!!! For a small ice cream, you can have 2 half scoops so you can mix and match. I wish I had the appetite to try more flavors. They also add a triangle of waffle cone which was super yummy too.

Ok… Seriously… Let’s get our heads out of our vaginas, and just admit to ourselves that this shit is just ice cream. Is it good? Yes. Is it an amazingly, life altering, mama from heaven, type of ass fattening glory? No… No it is not. It’s just ice cream. It happens to be located on upper King St.: which is currently Mecca for the über-self-righteous-hipper-than-you crowd. I paid $ 12 for two single scoop cones today. That is $ 6 for 3 ounces of ice cream perched atop a sugar cone, that Seems a bit pricy and overblown to me. Even as a veteran pastry chef of 24+ years, and knowing what ingredients cost, this price point is outrageous. The hip crowd is super impressed with this place because, perhaps, they’ve never bought Ben and Jerry’s. Save yourselves the ultra-luxe exorbitant price tag, and just head over to the Harris Teeter on East Bay St. for a pint: You’ll thank me in the end!
