Hilton Garden Inn Charleston Waterfront/Downtown

Had a wonderful stay here. The staff was accommodating, and willing to work with me (and my party). As for reviews regarding food, why would you order food at a hotel when you have wonderful options in this amazing city? They have several options in the surrounding areas that should be taken advantage of by tourist. Other than that, the staff was amazing. Thank you all for the wonderful stay. It was noticed how much pride you all take in your work!

The rooms are nice and comfortable. The bathroom was not as clean as it could have been. There was some mold growing the corner of the shower stall. The dining and bar area were closed due to construction (which they failed to mention when booking). Other occupants complained that jackhammers could be heard all night long. Fortunately, I was far away from that. I fact, we couldn’t find our rooms, due to poor directions and location labeling. That labeling problem was the same in the dining room. It was not clear if anything was complimentary. It looked like a buffet was set up, but nothing to indicate a buffet.
Thought breakfast would be like Courtyard across the street (which is free). Not at Hilton. For only $ 14.95 they will serve you the worst breakfast you ever had. Cold scrambled eggs, 4 potato pieces, cold bacon, a muffin I had to make myself, and coffee that will strip the paint off the wall. Too bad Courtyard was booked. I thought this would be a good alternative. NOT!

This hotel provided my wife and I the absolute best customer service that we have ever experienced. The staff is so friendly and they all go out of their way to ensure that you have a great stay. All of the maids offered us a friendly «Good Morning» when we passed them and two separate bar managers went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable while hanging out in the lobby (even though we hadn’t ordered anything). I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Charleston or planning any big group events.
Also, make sure you check out the rooftop hangout area. It’s a hidden gem, especially at sunset.

Great view of the river and very clean. Employees weren’t all friendly, and the big selling point, the roof top bar, wasn’t available unless you scheduled a special event. That was very disappointing. Next time… staying downtown.

I stayed at this location in July for my best friend’s wedding. I woke up after my first night with disgusting bites on my legs. Two nurses in my group confirmed by suspicion that they were bed bug bites. I informed the hotel immediately and showed them my legs. They refused to change my room. Only after I awoke from my second night’s stay with even MORE bites on my legs did the hotel staff finally change the room. I have no idea why it took me getting even more bites for the hotel to respond. Beware this Hilton location. Bed bugs combined with terrible customer service make it a potential disaster waiting to happen. To this day I still have scars from the bites.

This was one of our favorite nights stay during a recent vacation. Loved everything about this hotel. Beautiful large lobby, great outdoor space with views of the marina and a beautiful pool area with lots loungers to relax and unwind. The hotel was the kind that made you ‘want to’ hang out in the common areas and relax.
The hotel rooms are spacious, modern and well thought out. The room had all of the qualities a great room should have– the bed was comfortable and curtains closed all the way creating a great nights sleep.
There is free shuttle that takes you downtown to Charleston. The location is not ‘in town’, but the shuttle certainly made up for that.

I like everything about this Hilton. Don’t like that you have to pay for everything at breakfast including just a bagel if you want one.

Stayed here for Memorial Day Weekend.
The entrance is a little tricky for first timers, as is the parking and finding the lobby. Upon check-​in the concierge asked if we were there for a special reason and my husband told her it was my birthday, she immediately said happy birthday and asked if we wanted a complimentary bottle of wine. Of course we accepted and she let me pick one out from the little convenience store. Check-​in was smooth and our room was on the first level, #135. Our room was a great size and over looked the marina and water. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom had a fan (thank you Hilton!) and the shower was gorgeous. It was a really modern room, dark wood floors with all white counter tops. Service was great, we asked for fresh towels and received them in less then 5 minutes. Some things weren’t entirely clean, there were some stray hairs in the shower and dirt above the toilet, but easy to over look.
There is free shuttle that takes you downtown to Charleston that leaves on the hour every hour until 11pm. We found this so convenient and used it almost every day, I say almost because on Saturday around 7 there was a line of about 25 people waiting for the shuttle, considering it only fits 10 people we did not want to wait so we used an über instead (about $ 10 to get downtown). The location is ok, it is far from the action but the shuttle certainly made up for that.
The pool is small but nice because it overlooks the marina.
The free breakfast was great, there is a fresh menu that cooks to order omelets, french toast, waffles, eggs, etc. The service at breakfast was great too. We never had a problem getting a table.
All in all great stay, one of our favorite Hiltons to date!

Nice hilton hotel, clean and relatively new
Pros are free parking and the shuttle will take you into Charleston (one location) and pick you up at the same location. Modern hotel with upbeat décor.
Some rooms have a marina view. Rooms are spacious and clean
Cons are you cannot walk to anything. The hotel is on a major highway. So if you want access to downtown this is not the spot for you.
Tip. Avoid rooms on floors 3 and 2 with numbers
331, 334 etc. These rooms overlook heating and cooling units and a roof line. Absolutely no view at all. Guest park underneath the hotel and check in on the first floor upper level. You go up and obtain the room key and come back down for the luggage cart and then proceed to your room

Charleston is a great town

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Charleston Waterfront/​Downtown last week for 3 nights as part of our spring break road trip to Charleston & Savannah. We were really happy with our choice. The rooms were a good size and decorated in a beachy, modern style. While it was too cold to swim in the pool, we did sit out in the pool area to watch the sunset over the harbor on the Ashley River and it was absolutely gorgeous. They also have a rooftop area that sadly wasn’t open. While this hotel is considered downtown, it is about a mile from the historic section which wasn’t too bad since there was a sidewalk along the river to use. They do have a shuttle which runs every hour to Waterfront Park between 7am and 11pm I believe. We used it a few times and the driver was very nice and offered plenty of restaurant suggestions when asked. The only thing I wish was that shuttle ran either more frequently or ran as needed like other Hilton properties I’ve stayed at. A few nights we ended up having to wait for a while for the shuttle because by the time we finished/​paid for dinner we had just missed the shuttle. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying here, especially if you want a quite relaxing environment or are bringing a car since they have free parking and it’s right off the highway!
