Yet another update! This unsuspecting bar now serves sushi! And it’s actually good! The sushi is provided by Tobo sushi

Umm… got turn around cause the bartender didn’t want serve me during my first visit to this bar. Terrible first impression but what can I expect from a city that has so many discrimination issues.

I’m a huge fan of all different types of bars in Charleston. If it weren’t for shady ass places that don’t check ID’s, where would the college kids go? No clubs with bottle service… the guys with spikey hair and tight t-shirts are shit outta luck! What about all the cougars hunting for fresh meat? What I’m getting at is that we all need a place to go. If you’re not into divey spots with no agenda where you can drink cheap beer and not wait in line for 20 mins to get a drink, then you might like Cutty Bar. If that doesn’t sound like something you’re into, then go back to King, Market, or East Bay St. Not to say I don’t enjoy a hand crafted cocktail or a locally brewed beer, but afterwards, you’ll likely find me at a place like this.

I love this bar. Unpretentious, good selection, and a fun atmosphere. With this one star, I am hoping to discourage fancy jerks from ruining this secret oasis for the neighborhood.

Excellent beer selection, homemade habanero shots, cheap rum and cokes. Order a pizza from D’al’s next door and sit down and eat it at Cutty’s. Real Friendly locals crowd. Trivia Wednesdays.

Best bar in chucktown. No frills watering hole. Charleston’s #1 Seahawks bar!!! Hell ya! Sunday ticket, every Hawks game with sound. Finally. Thank you Cuttys. Charleston’s original cat pirate moustache bar! What?

The moment you step into Cutty’s, you’re teleported from fancy-pants Charleston to a dive bar in the heart of the midwest. There aren’t many places in this town where you can find a $ 2 beer — this is one of them. Hipster cat drawings adorn the walls, the furniture is worn out and falling apart, and a vending machine sells art and condoms. What more can a hipster ask for?

What manner of beast is this? A friend asked me to meet me here. Following my GPS I found myself across from a pizza joint and scratching my head. I turn around and see a small sticker saying«cuttys» attached to the brick wall. No way, is this speak easy style? I wander in. IT’S A DAMNHIPSTERCLUBHOUSE! Small bar, trivia going on, cool people, pool tables… only lost a star because I’m not big on large dogs wandering around a small area there, loved the people and atmosphere, will totally be back. for more!

Classic dive-bar décor and atmosphere. Good, friendly service. Friendly vibe among the patrons. One pool table. Good cheap drinks. Bad food(the bartender even recommends«If you want good food, go to D’Allessandro’s»). D’Allesandro’s is the pizza place across the street. You can bring in pizza to Cutty’s or even have it delivered there. Only thing missing that would make Cutty’s a perfect dive, at least on the time I visited, was a few older regulars holding forth. It was all young people. But that’s OK. The young regulars seem like they’ll still be at Cutty’s 40 or 50 years from now.

The EPITOME of hole-in-the-wall. 2 dollar beers never tasted so good. A great place to chill! It reminded me of the awesome beach town bars from where I’m from in Florida: weird memorabilia, kitschy things and graffiti on the walls and that«I don’t give a f%^#, let’s have a good time» attitude. Seems far removed from Charleston. It’s a little janky but I guess the more beers you drink, the less you’ll realize!

Cutty’s is one of the great bars in Charleston — it’s kind-of hidden in plain sight, right across the street from D’Allesandro’s but very unassuming. At first I was not sure that it was a bar that was open to the public but once I was inside, I felt right at home. It’s a dive, sure, but it’s not super-gross and everyone was very friendly. The beer is cheap and cold, and the décor is charming. It has a pool table that is relatively cheap and the music is good. Make sure that you go during happy hour for $ 1 mystery beer(not as scary as it sounds) and I’ve heard that you might even get to sample some Malort, if you are lucky. I liked it better than Recovery Room because it was more relaxed and did not have as many people trying hard to «be cool» towards each other. If I lived in Charleston, I would be at Cutty’s quite often.

If you enjoy the feeling of drinking in a dirty dark basement decorated as an homage to bike punks and amateur art then this is for you. I love d’als and their entire staff but this place is so strange. A vending machine that sells condoms and art scribbles on paper? Etch-a-sketches for entertainment? Horribly infused alcohols to shoot? Count me out. When I was 15 and obsessed with death cab for cutie I used to deface all my furniture with song lyrics and horrible sketches. This place looks like my awkward high school struggle to be cool and ironic.

Cutty’s is my new favorite neighborhood bar: it’s tucked away, laid back, and very dive-y. It reminds me of a ground-level Upper Deck, or a less fratty A.C.‘s(or, a pre-remodeled A.C.s?), or a smaller, less perpetually crowded Rec Room. The staff is pretty cool and will make you good ass drinks cheap enough for there not to be an excuse to show them a little tip-love. Thanks for your mere existence, sweet Cutty’s.

Cool lil dive! I really enjoyed exploring this place! The band that was playing was really good. I was pleasantly surprised and much appreciative of how clean the Ladies bathroom was! Little details go along way.

An actual bar not on King, Market or Bay? In Elliotborough? This is sort of random div-ish bar across the street from D’Allesandro’s. Plenty of beers, liqour, etc! Pool table. Very different scene than King Street.(more like Recovery Room)
