Bark Busters Home Dog Training

I have a four year-​old rescued Staffie, Mona. Mona is a beautiful, loving, very smart dog, but she has two problems: she has a very strong prey drive, and she enjoyed dragging me along on her leash. After a lot of research and consulting with my vet, I called Bark Busters. James came to my house for our first lesson. I realized that he was training me to train HER. After my lesson, Mona and I had a little homework — a few exercises that took less than 10 minutes a day. When we had those down pat, our second lesson involved introducing her to the Halti, or gentle leader, and teaching me how to walk with her and deal with any issues that arose. I’m going to paste an email that I wrote to James last week:
«Good morning!
I had to report that during our morning walk, Mona and I hit the absolute sweet spot for a little while. It was right after a dog crossed our path, and all she did was whimper a little bit and keep walking. Then for a good minute or so, we were walking in perfect harmony — I didn’t even feel the leash in my hand! I didn’t have to look at her; she was in the perfect spot and our walking was perfectly coordinated. Even when we saw Smokey the cul-​de-​sac cat (the killing of whom is Mona’s primary mission in life), again, all she did was whimper and keep walking. It was great! I thought you’d like to know.

This perfection doesn’t happen all the time, but we are getting there. Our next lesson will be in the park, with James and other dogs all around. I think Mona and I will both pass with flying colors!

Bark busters is amazing. James came to our house professional and on time to help both of my dogs barking and running right to the door when the doorbell rings, one of my dogs would growl at people over that she didn’t know. My other dog had multiple accidents in the house, and walked very poorly on a leash. James came over and took control, knew exactly what he was doing and the things he teaches really does work! It’s mostly training you as a dog owner, which can be difficult in the beginning but now I do it without even thinking about it. All of the issues I had with both of my dogs are resolved. When the doorbell rings, both of them run straight to their beds and stay until I release them. On walks, they both walk quietly next to me. It is such a relief! If you are having any issues with your dog I would highly recommend bark busters.

I used bark busters years ago and still to this day use the commands and tips they taught me! I even share my knowledge with friends with new and old pups! They come to your home and work with you on the basics and the areas you and your dog struggle with (like nearly knocking you down the stairs)! They care about the safety of you and your dog and are stern with their techniques but I can promise you they pay off! Recommend them all the time!!!

It was virtually impossible to walk my 1.5 year old yellow lab (Binx) before working with James. Binx also made it really uncomfortable for visitors – jumping on them, licking excessively, scratching, etc. He also begged relentlessly at dinner time. We no longer have these issues thanks to James. I really appreciated how professional and encouraging he was. I believe my work with Bark Busters was a great start, and I will continue to use them if I see new problems develop.
This weekend someone asked if my dog was a service animal. This stranger had a service dog himself that he had trained and he saw those qualities in Binx. I was elated; Binx has come so far in such a short amount of time!

I was a bit skeptical at first about Bark Busters, especially when I found out the price (in our area it was 600 $ for a lifetime package, $ 500 for one year) but I would pay it all over again, no hesitation. James is super professional and dedicated to the animals. He really teaches you the most effective way of communicating with your dog. The methods you are taught can be applied later on to whatever you would like to teach your dog. For example, I just taught Quincy to «leave it» and so far — SUCCESS!
The best part, aside from having your pup obey you and follow your rules, is that your dog will be happier for it. We learned that dogs need a strong leader (to show them the rules) to be happy. No leader and they aren’t as happy.

Heads Up: Our dog also has severe vet anxiety. Just so you aren’t disappointed — Bark Busters can not magically fix this. This is a problem which takes a lot of time and effort to work through. Bark Busters will assist you with it, but its not one of those miracle cures. Just an FYI for all of you vet anxious pet owners (I know we can’t be the only one). Otherwise, Bark Busters rocks.
