Tots Program:
A unique class designed and modeled after Kindermusik.
A 30-minute creative movement & tumbling class for two-year olds.
Preschool & Kindergarten:
Ballet & Tap combined into one class per week allowing children to explore both styles of dance.
Recreational Dance:
Students can take one or two classes per week with no prior technical experience in dance. A great way to prepare for dance teams, community theatre roles, and extracurricular involvements. Fun and age appropriate, with five different age levels offered four days a week, grades 1 through 12.

Jump Start Program:
Our learn-to-dance program is a recreational program designed to help families who want to explore dance inexpensively for the first time. No special shoes or clothing are required for these classes; children wear appropriate gym type clothing. The fun, energy-packed combination classes are offered every Saturday. Monthly fees start at $ 35.00. Scholarships and financial aid are available.
Apprenticeship /Pre-Professional Program:
This program is designed to allow children who are serious about their dance education to study at the highest level possible. Students are trained in all styles of dance and work with a multitude of professional dance educators including master teachers from around the country. Monthly class fees start at $ 135.00.

Our mission is to provide a highly professional and creative atmosphere, and to promote the emotional and technical growth of our students. Our program will allow your child to shine and their confidence to soar. We strive to meet and exceed your expectations.

Business Owner
January is known throughout West Virginia as the creative energy and spitit behind the Academy of Arts at January’s and JADCO Contemporary Dance Company. Since 1986, the Academy has had an outstanding reputation for instilling and sharing the love of dance with all ages. January still manages the day-to-day business of the school, overseeing the faculty and all of the educational outreach programs the school offers, as well as choreographing and teaching for the school and company. She works outside of the studio volunteering for area school arts programs and lecture series and setting works for local community theatre organizations. She was the co-founder of the University of Charleston’s Camp William in the 80’s, and the founder of the Charleston Stage Company’s Summer Arts Camp in the 90’s; both programs are devoted to enhancing and broadening children’s awareness of the arts and its importance in self-discovery. January is the author of three books and a companion ballet for each.
