History

Established in 1988.

Founded by the John Bruening family, Geauga Vision began as Thompson Optical in 1988. Thompson Optical grew quickly, and moved to Middlefield as Geauga Vision in 1990. An on-​site lab was added, along with a delivery, and many other services. The Chardon office was opened in 2001. Today, Geauga Vision consists of 9 offices in northeast Ohio, serving more than 75,000 customers each year.

Owner and optician John Bruening has been in the optical business since 1985. Working at larger optical chains, John saw the need for individualized, personal eyecare.

An Ophthalmic Optician, John has always worked to make the customer experience a positive one.
