Chaptico Market & Deli

I haven’t been able to find good fried chicken since moving here and I’ve been told this is the place to go for fried chicken. The outside was a little unassuming, but once inside I knew this was the place.
I go to the back where the kitchen counter is, and order a 10 piece. I asked if they had spicy as that’s what I am really after, and was told they do it every other day, but unfortunately this was the day they don’t do it. It was nice to see that most of the chicken is nice size, but the wing was disappointingly small, like really small. Once I got to the car I had to try a piece. The skin was perfectly crunchy, and the meat was moist and tender. My only complaint for this is that it is very salty. Although overall I enjoyed it, I couldn’t get over the saltiness. I hope it’s not always this way. I do want to try some of their sides and pizza next time.
On the outside there’s an ice cream place tht sells soft serve and house made ice cream. The soft serve comes out of a machine. The other ice cream is served as big scoops. Even a small is quite large. Was disappointed two flavors I picked out were discontinued due to lack of popularity, but my third choice of creamsickle was delish. Definitely recommend coming here for this. Wish they had more flavor options, but still great!

To my surprise they were open today, Sunday. the day after the big snow blizzard of 2016. What a perfect lunch after a morning of shoveling snow but a dinner from Chaptico Market! By far the best fried chicken in southern Maryland, not to mention some of the best stuffed ham in the county. Friendly people and great food. Never had a bad meal or bad experience, highly recommended.

Traveling and just happened upon this place. Smack dab in the middle of nowhere but exactly what we were looking for. Delicious fried chicken that they sell by the lb or in increments. Pretty wide selection of other prepared food items but we only purchased chicken and some other snacks from the store. Staff was very accommodating and friendly! They even have a cute little ice cream shop on the side.
If we’re ever in this area again we won’t waste time looking anywhere else!

We’re new to the area and were recommended to Chaptico market by a neighbor. I placed an order by phone for dinner and sent my husband to pick it up. He had a horrific experience with some of the staff. Including being followed around the store, being starred at, and not being acknowledged while standing at the register in front of the cashier, they even went as far as pointing. Being African American it certainly seemed racist. My husband did mention that the younger staff members were much friendlier (not to be age biased) but that was his experience. As for the food, not to bad but we won’t be going back.

Their fried chicken is ah-​MAZING! Every time I am in the area I stop to get some! Their jo-​jos (potato wedges) are very good and cheap! Their ribs are good, but they are covered in sauce.

Great store and very good food… Best Fried Chicken and Pork Chops around… The service is exceptional… They are stocked with everything you need if you are in a pinch… I have never went there and not found what I need…

Best fried chicken in the land. This place has amazing home made style food, and the most friendly people you will ever meet! Love Chaptico Market!!!
