History

Established in 2004.

Scott Mikolay grew up in Yorktown Heights, NY. His interest in design and jewelry began by apprenticing with his father’ company, Mikolay Jewelers. Scott learned the trade and became a Master Jeweler by the age of 18.

Mikolay decided to expand upon the business and open Desires by Mikolay, a full-​service repair shop and custom design center. It is also one of the few jewelry stores to offer while-​you-​wait Diamond Setting, inspiring trust and a high standard of service in his clientele.

Word spread quick of Mikolay’s innovative designs and high quality work. Voted by the readers of Westchester Magazine as ‘Best Jewelry Store’ 2005, 2006, and 2008.

While hosting a broad range of designer lines in his flagship store, he decided to explore expanding his own designs as the demand grew. Mikolay continues to build his rapport with customers and is commissioned for custom made jewelry and bridal pieces by local and international clients, including celebrities.

Scott Mikolay believes that jewelry is art — a vehicle for creative expression.

In 2004, Scott Mikolay founded Desires by Mikolay in Chappaqua, New York. Success came quickly as word of his innovative custom designs spread. In addition to hosting a broad range of designer lines in his flagship store, Mikolay launched his own jewelry line, which expanded quickly as demand for his designs grew.

Scott Mikolay’s exclusive line of jewelry draws its inspiration from the time of the Tudors, a time when weighty statement jewelry was a part of everyday court life. Although jewelry adornment was used as a way to designate one’s position in society, the jewelry itself also embodied a romanticism that was very characteristic of the time. It is these intertwined values most strikingly articulated by Mikolay’s Aragon, Boleyn, Celebration, Crown, Monarch and Renaissance collections.
