Here is where you wish there were negative stars. I hired Carl McCarthy because not only was he recommended by my local hardware store but I thought he was a good guy and would do a good job.
He told me over and over again he would leave my home in better shape than he left it which was far from the truth. Not only do I have paint missing, another coat needed, drips all over the walls, but he totally damaged my floors and left my storm door broken. Our most recent discovery was that our fire alarm kept beeping so we needed to replace the battery. My husband could not turn it because they placed take not only inside the mechanism but to the ceiling.
He told me his guys have worked with him for awhile but one of his painter who did really bad work said he just started for him.
I went over the job with Carl with what paint to use where and gave him notes. He not only chose what he would do where but decided not to prime over my oil paint and applied acrylic. He then told me he could go over the acrylic with primer and it would be fine which is entirely false according to not only the paint manufacturer but every other painter I’ve spoken with since. Carl is now no where to be found. Although he left the balance of his deposit on the table it won’t come close to reversing the damage he has done to my home.
