Two of us tried it for lunch(first time there). The food was really quite good. Really. But the woman taking orders was simply unpleasant. First, we asked for a larger cup for water and were refused. I could see if we hadn’t ordered food why it might be an issue but it wasn’t. And yes, a larger cup might cost them a dime — but really? The take out order of soup for a friend came with no silverware until we asked for it. And there was another encounter that was equally unpleasant. We agreed it’s a good place«to take food out,» which is a shame because food eaten when prepared is always better. May try it again … but will do so with reservation.

Five stars for one of the best sandwich places I have visited. I’ve had the«Southern Club» and their Cuban sandwich, both were messy, fantastic, and indulgent.

It took me awhile to update my review because, honestly, every time I tried to think about it I would. start gagging over my last experience. I ordered the chicken sandwich off the seasonal menu. It’s described as having a sweet mustard viniagrette and aioli with avocado and provolone. It should have been a slam dunk but the chicken was so dry and rubbery that it was near impossible to chew. It barely had much of a taste at all and after a few bites I just wrapped it back up. Thinking I still had my turkey Reuben, which I’ve had before, to eat, I relaxed until i took the most gag producing bite I’ve ever had.(Okay, maybe second, the first being a polish sausage my dad made me eat when I was a kid) There was a huge glob of meat fat along with the deli meat. I kept thinking there is no way since turkey is not a fatty meat but sure enough I uncovered a soft, mushy uncooked part. I’m not sure if it was turkey or got mixed in with it but it was so bad that I spit it out and wasn’t even sure if I could keep it down. So sorry for the tmi but that was just eat up with the«nassiness». I wasn’t at the restaurant when I ate it so I couldn’t take it back to the counter otherwise I would have complained right then and there. I’m not sure why I’m not even lowering it to one star at this point.

Like their sign says, simply delicious. Had the roasted turkey with sweet potato waffle fries. They make their own ketchup for the fries and they know what they are doing! Hubby had the Cuban and said it was really good. Very clean place. We will be coming back!

I actually discovered Olio and Aceto at a food truck event. Ordered the Caprese sandwich — truly outstanding. Since they I learned their storefront is right around the corner from me. Most recently ordered the Fish and Chips. Really balanced, not greasy or heavy and the bacon cheddar fries that come with it are a pleasant surprise. Wow these ladies get it. They know to experiment with interesting flavor and textures. Stop by their restaurant or if you see their food truck FOLLOWIT!

Fantastic sandwiches! Cuban sandwich is not exactly Cuban, but it’s delicious. Maple pork is good too. Large portion size. Decent coffee. Friendly staffs. Homemade pickles and sweet potato chips are not to be missed. Absolutely love them. Will be back.

YUMMEE! Quiet lunch spot in Chapel Hill that serves satisfying well crafted sandwiches, soups, and salads with sides. Lots of attention to details that speak to thoughtfulness about their customers. Lemon infused water that is complimentary or options to add Lemon or Peach simple syrup to unsweetened ice tea as well as nice beer or wine and usual coke products provide ample drink options. Sandwiches are hot or cold with scrumptious, mouth watering combinations of top quality ingredients. I can vouch for the tasty Southern Club that included(but not limited to) fried green tomatoes, bacon and house-aoili. The special Pesto Melt was beyond satisfying for a lunch but I couldn’t stop til I ate every tasty morsel! All the sandwiches are garnished with pickles and home-made chips. The place would’ve been worth going to for these lip-smacking delights alone!

First time here and I’m a bit conflicted. I’ll start with the positives. Lovely space with welcoming décor and a friendly staff. French press coffee which always makes me happy. The menu has a lot of variety and the princes are reasonable. I ordered the Southern Club which has provolone, roasted turkey, maple pepper bacon, fried green tomatoes, aioli and romaine on toasted wheat. While it was tasty I want completely blown away by it. The turkey was quite dry and did not taste super fresh. The tomatoes were tangy and perfectly fried. The potato salad left a lot of be desired. Overly tangy and the potatoes were not cooked through. My favorite part of the meal was the housemade pickles. They were stellar. I may give it another try for brunch but with so many options in the area it’s hard to say for certain.

I am confused over the good reviews of this restaurant. Maybe I came on an off day. They are overpriced for what they offer. With a name such as theirs I expected more. More options on their menu, more for the price, and more for my taste buds. The lime water was gross it tasted like chemical tap water… no lime flavor at all. So I tried the strawberry water and that was no better. Seeing as how it is strawberry season I don’t know how the water was so terrible. I ordered a Shrimp Po’ Boy which is horribly misleading because when I received my sandwich it was shrimp salad in some pseudo-remoulade sauce. So $ 10 wasted. Next there was a grilled cheese sandwich that cost freaking $ 10. I didn’t want the pimento cheese so all they had to offer was American cheese and they didn’t even change the price. I have had wayyy better grilled cheese sandwiches for a much lower price. In my book I would call this Olio and Acet-NO. There are other better, cheaper sandwich shops in the area like Jersey Mikes, Great Harvest, or even Whole Foods(which have quality ingredients and more variety). I would even venture to say Harris Teeter could make a better sandwich for less and you won’t leave hungry as I did.

Hanging out while daughter was at UNC Orientation I visited quite a few local places to eat. This one was the best! I had half of a chicken salad sandwich and a Caesar salad. The sandwich was on buttered toasted bread and was SO good I wished I had the other half.

Very few places would I give five stars. I’ve eaten here a few times. They make everything themselves and everything I’ve eaten has been great. Their Caesar Dressing, pimento cheese sandwich, tomato soup, and club. Can’t wait to try more. I do wish they had more open hours, but I’ll take what I can get.

I just tried Olio & Aceto for the first time today and I’ve got to say… it was amazing. I got the Pork Loin and Kale sandwich which was incredible. The pork was flavorful, the kale was ample and provided some great acidity, and the bun was fresh. Pricing is about what you’d expect at around $ 10 a sandwich, but it does include a side of house-made pickles and chips, which are, of course, delicious. It’s more than Jersey Mike’s across the street, but it’s definitely a cut above. I will certainly be back to try more! Top quality spot, I really hope more people discover this hidden gem!

I came to Olio and Aceto today after wanting to check it out for awhile– and it was even better than I thought it would be! I had a hard time choosing what to eat since everything looked good. I got my daughter grits and a biscuit. I had coffee(Bean Traders) and the Prosciutto Sandwich(prosciutto, mixed greens, havarti, almond and red pepper aioli on brioche), which came with THEWORLD’S BESTPOTATOCHIPS. Seriously, I’m not even a chips person in general, but these were phenomenal, house made, and reason enough to come back. The sandwich was so tasty and the hash browns were on point to0. There is easy parking(it’s in the Galleria shopping area by Whole Foods) and prices are super cheap! Put it on your to-do list ASAP!

Whenever i go here, I want to try something new, but I can’t help myself, I always end up ordering the Pork Loin with braised Kale sandwich. It is top notch. This may be the best sandwich I have ever eaten in my life.

Great place! The food is fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and wonderful. I have eaten off the truck and this was my first time in the brick and motor. They did not disappoint. Everything is made to order. The fish and chips sandwich was awesome. It was not greasy or heavy and had a great flavor. The pickles on the side might have been my favorite. I could eat a whole bowl of those. I’ll be back!

Great for lunches, great for weekend breakfasts. Always fresh ingredients prepared by the café with attention to detail. The coffee is suburb, typically with three different choices available. Next time your in Chapel Hill skip the fast food or fancy restaurant, stop into Olio and Aceto(oil & vinegar) Café. Yo will be glad you did.
