Taste Of Korea

Although the price is a little high, I do love it here. My mom is super picky about korean restaurants, but she 10 000% approves. I think I have a habit of judging Korean restaurants more strictly because I know what it should taste like.
Everything tasted super clean, no MSG, and no extra salt. Some restaurants add extra salt and other stuff to cater to the American palate. The décor is really cute and the restaurant itself is really clean. The food came out pretty quickly, and the server was super sweet and accommodating.
The side dishes that came out were super yummy, and again clean, light, and flavorful. My mom actually knows the lady that owns the place (we didn’t realize until we were leaving), and now I know why the banchan (side dishes) were so good. She’s the best!
The Dolsot Bibimbap was okay. Everyone else at my table said it was «ehh» including my mom, but I didn’t think it was too bad.
The Soondubu Jjigae was REALLY good. *Korean Mom Approved* Again, clean flavors, no weird aftertaste and just enough spice.
The Bossam Jungshik was really good. The pork belly was perfectly cooked, and had really great flavor, which is most important.

I am in l-​o-​v-​e with Taste of Korea. Before eating here I never would have guessed I would become a seaweed appreciator. All the side dishes were a culinary adventure for me and I loved every bit of it. The staff was so patient and explained every side dish to me and my family. The dumplings were light but still packed full with fabulous flavor. The entrees we got were a beef and pork dishes and they were so delicious. I typically don’t enjoy beef dishes but this restaurant has converted me to eating beef.
I would suggest wearing lose or elastic clothing when eating at this place because you will absolutely leave stuffed.

Lots of restaurants these days hire chefs to cook. But here, you get the authentic taste of Korea. Why you say? The owner, veteran chef from Korea cooks every meal like she cooks for her family. The décor is rustic modern but the food definitely hits old Korea taste.
Dishes are clean. Portions are good. Prices are awesome.

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! Above and Beyond service. Servers were amazingly helpful and so friendly. I got the Bulgogi Soup and Pumpkin Soup. One word WOW! WOW! WOW! Food is Out Of This World delicious, I love this place, definitely will be coming back again. If you love Korean food, this is the place to go. I recommend this place 100 percent.

This is without a doubt my favorite Korean restaurant. Love It! Love It! Love It! ;)

Stopped here on a whim with my husband and kids. We ordered a HUGE bowl of spicy seafood noodle soup (kalguksu), bulgogi ddukbaegi and bibimbap. The service and flavors were good, just a bit pricey and the menu was fairly limited.

I’ve visited this nice, tucked away spot a few times now. Always clean with very fresh side dishes. Usually receive about 5 — their kimchi is amazing! Really enjoyed their bachelor radish kimchi last time and cucumber kimchi.
Food tastes fresh — always get spicy tofu soup with seafood. Have had steamed and fried vegetable dumplings now. Very large dumplings so a small order would easily satisfy two people for an appetizer.
The Sengsun Jeon appetizer is delicious but was a bit much for one person — so be sure to share!
Last visit the offered persimmon tea at the end. When you start meal they will offer ice water or typical hot Korean tea.
Waitstaff very nice, attentive, and knowledgable. Clientele seems to be more young people.
Bathroom is very nice and clean too.

As someone who frequents Korean Restaurants this one takes the cake… no…the KIMCHI!
From the moment you enter the doors and walk around the entry hallway you are in aye with the beauty of hand painted walls. The murals are of an ancient country side where you see villagers cooking, farming, dancing and doing daily chores.
You are greeted warmly and quick by one of the waiters/​waitresses and brought to a comfortably low-​lit table. The menu is already laid out and functions as a plate mat. The waiter/​waitresses ask for your drink of choice (my go-​to is the hot tea which is warm and relaxing). They bring this back to you along with the traditional Banchan; a variety of side dishes.
Some of these are pickled, some spicy, some familiar and some new! Always fresh and delicious which allows you to feel the love and care the chef and staff put into the food. I encourage those who haven’t had Korean food before to try a little of each dish even if it looks strange. You’ll be surprised at the variety of taste and textures. I was hesitant once about a dish of small anchovies but gave in to try it. This is favorite now and one I learned to make for myself at home!
Once you’ve finished your meal and requested your bill they bring out a small bubble shaped glass with a dark liquid in it. This is not liquor! It’s a traditional sweet rice drink called Sikhye. After all the strong flavors, pickled dishes and spices you’ve just eaten this is the sweet gentle palate cleanser that you’ll love. It’s quite mellow and has a dash of cinnamon to it.
I’ve listed below some of my favorite go-​to dishes. These should be great meals to try for those who are unfamiliar with Korean cuisine.
E6. Yookgaejang — Spicy Shredded Beef soup with vegetables and egg.
E11. Dduokbaegi Bulgogi– Sliced beef marinated with special sauce in a hot stone pot.
E13. Dwenjang Jjigae– Soybean paste stew with onion, zucchini and tofu.
*E14. Kimchi Jjigae — Kimchi soup with vegetables and pork. *-Personal favorite!
E16. Bibimbap — Rice topped with beef, vegetables and a fried egg.
E17. Dolsot Bibimbap– Rice topped with beef, vegetables and a fried egg. This is served in a Hot Stone bowl vs. cold.
I have been visiting this little hole in the wall since it opened it’s doors and have yet to have a negative experience. The environment, the chef’s food and staff are all top notch!
They get my top recommendation for Korean in the Northern Virginia Area.

Okay~~ new Korean place here near fairfax/​chantillly… Wanted to try out to see what the talk was al about.
The place is clean and neat with an attempted cultural Korean décor. The service is prompt and good; however, the food is over priced and not good. We had the bibimbop, the noodle (kal gook soo), and the bulgogi hot pot. All 3 of our dishes weren’t seasoned enough, and quite honestly… just blah. They’re going to have to step up the taste if they want to survive in the competitive Northern VA food market. That’s my two cents — wish I could’ve said I spent the same amount on the bill instead.

OK this is one restaurant that definitely checks all the boxes.
The dining area had a nice modern feel with some traditional elements to it. It was clean, comfortable and relatively quiet. I liked the touch of the antique Edison light bulbs hanging from classic fixtures. Even the restroom was clean and stylish.
The waitstaff was very efficient and friendly. They checked on my table frequently without hovering over my table.
And finally, the food was very good. The panfried dumplings I had an excellent flavor and were so large they could be a meal by themselves. The side dishes were very flavorful and have that traditional feel of Korean food. And the beef bimbimbop that I had was very good.

You can always tell whether a Korean restaurant is any good by the taste of side dishes that they bring out at the start. Taste of Korea passed that test easily. Their side dishes had very traditional Korean flavors, not like the other restaurants where they try to hide behind salt and sugar. Some people (usually non-​Koreans) who are used to extra sweet flavors in their Korean dishes will be disappointed. However, real Korean food is not overly sweet. ToK seems to trying their best to bring out an authentic Korean food.
We tried A5 (Combo Jeon), E18 (Seafood Bibimbop), E22 (Spicy stir-​fried squid), and of course Bulgogi (E12). It took a while to get the food. No problem as long as it was good. And it was great! Bibimbop had a lot of seafood and veggies. Spicy squid was tender and spicy. Bulgogi was tasty but not too sweet. Mung bean Jeon was pretty filling by itself.
When it comes to a customer service, it was very friendly atmosphere. The waitresses were very helpful. And yes, they do speak very good English.
The price of the dishes were reasonable, and they come in large portions.
I hope Taste of Korea keeps up the quality of the food and customer service. I’m tired of getting disappointed with Korean restaurants who were fantastic at the beginning when they opened, but after a year or two, the quality goes down the drain.
But for now, I think Taste of Korea is going to be my go-​to Korean restaurant in this area.

We tried Mandoo soup and Soojaebi. First, mandoo soup was the best in the area! Also, the quantity was huge for just one person. We ended up not finishing the whole thing, the amount they give you is about twice as much compared to other places.
Soonaebi was not that great, mainly because the soup was watered down too much. I have made it fresh by watching Mangchi from Youtube, way better to make it from home.
I was a bit disappointed that soojaebi was not that good it seemed not as fresh as I would have hoped, I wonder if it is because we went there during weekends.
Full-​time cooks and chefs usually work during weekdays…
I would definitely recommend getting mandoo soup! Staff was very friendly and welcoming. She alone earned 4 stars, I could have rated the food was more like a mediocre than impressive.

Absolutely wonderful! I’ve been to a lot of Korean restaurants and I can’t say I have a favorite one until I came here. I’d definitely recommend Taste of Korea to anyone who wants a real taste of Korean cuisine!
This also gets my picky Korean mom’s glowing stamp of approval! Which says a lot because she hates going out to eat.
What sets this place apart for me is the fact they have one of my favorite comfort dishes: sujebi. I’ve only had my mom’s homemade sujebi since leaving Korea and I was so psyched to order it on a cold rainy day. My mom got the dduk mandu guk so I opted for the spicy seafood sujebi. The price for these dishes were slightly higher than the average Korean prices but the portion sizes are huge.
The broth for my sujebi was super spicy and just the way I like it. Anything that clears up my sinuses is what I go for. It was filled to the brim with clams, shrimp, and squid. The dumplings were perfect and I was stuffed! My mom couldn’t stop raving about her soup too. There was lots of beef on top and it was very fresh.
The banchan were all delicious. We were especially fans of the radish kimchi and we want to order a jar when we come back. It was that good!
We ended the meal with soojunggwa, cinnamon pine nut punch, and it was a great palate cleanser/​end of the meal.
This restaurant is a bit out of my way but I will definitely return.

Taste of Korea is a new Korean restaurant in the Chantilly ‘hood. Located in the Aldi plaza off of Lee Jackson, this restaurant offers a small menu of appetizers (mandoos, bindae dduk, seng suhn juhn, etc.) and entrees (kalgooksoos, mandoogooks, bibimbops, jjigaes, etc.). My husband and I came here for early dinner, and we ordered the following: goon mandoos (fried dumplings filled with beef (you can also opt for either a beef & kimchi filling or a veggie filling) — these were housemade and ridiculously huge in size! Filled with a mixture of ground beef and tofu and vermicelli noodles, these were just okay; I may try their kimchi version next time); nokdu bindae dduk (mung bean pancakes, these were crisply-​fried and tasted pretty okay; don’t forget to request regular soy sauce and some of their hot chili pepper mixture for some dipping alternative (we found their automatic dipping sauce to be more on the sweeter side and not so much of a great complement)); a yangji muhri kalgooksoo (homemade fresh noodles in a brisket broth; this was a lighter soup that tasted great; the knife-​cut noodles were delicious — thick and cooked perfectly; the brisket was of high quality, and we loved it in the soup); and, bulgogi (sliced beef; this was more on the bland side and I wasn’t much of a fan of this). The banchans were pretty okay — fresh, but more on the sweeter side; a complimentary cup of soonjunggwa is offered at the end of your meal. Service was super — Ms. Jenny and Ms. Joy were both attentive, efficient, and made sure that we had everything that we needed. The restaurant itself is small and intimate, and I loved the contemporary clean look with the beautiful Korean traditional art murals on the walls: D I highly recommend in sticking to their noodle dishes — you won’t be disappointed! :D

I don’t know much about Korean food. For one, I’m not Korean or even Korean-​American to begin with (mucho sads), and I never make trips out to Centreville nor Annandale unless it’s for a birthday or a girls night out. It’s just too far for me where I live and I consider it a treat when I get to go to one of those K-​food hubs. But finally, a tasty Korean banchan that’s closer in reach!
My friend and I went here for a last minute lunch around 1:30/2:00pm on a weekday, so we barely squeezed in for regular lunch hours. The crowd was dying down by hat point and we ended up being the only people in the restaurant (which is super modern and swanky by the way, I love the decoration and bright yellow walls that really lightens up the atmosphere). You’ve got the usual K-​pop jamming in the background, and the staff is also young and super sweet :)
My friend and I were really hungry and decided to splurge on a dinner for two, along with a dumpling appetizer. And, least to say, we came back to our office with LOTS of leftovers. The bulgogi was fantastic, the soup was fantastic, and everything else provided in the meal was stellar! Again, I don’t know what I ate because I rarely have the chance to eat Korean food, but I just know that everything I ate and touched, I loved. (Hopefully my pictures will help!)
Maybe this was kind of a pointless review since I don’t know the food names, but. Ya gotta give this place a try!
Also I find it funny how the restaurant right next to it is called «Taste of Hong Kong» or something hahaha

The staff is really nice, friendly, patient, and accommodating here. The food is very tasty (galbitang, bossam, and mung bean pancakes). Very clean restaurant. Will definitely return when craving Korean cuisine.

The food here is so yummy ! came here for lunch and the waiter was beyond amazing! He was so attentive to our side dishes and also water refills. Our food came out in a timely manner. The chicken bulgogi is tasty and the pancake combo was bigger than expected! I am so happy we came here and will definitely come again!

Food is fine but not the best korean I’ve had. Ambiance is nice. Femail bathroom is clean and modern as well. Servers are nice but slow after the initial greeting and taking your order. We had to ask two servers to get our check and our to go boxes. Otherwise… it’s still worth going but not some place I would go out of the way.

They have great ambiance and it’s very clean and neat.
Staffs were friendly and they were willing to talk with customers.
I had bossam, tofu kimchi porkbelly and steamed dumpling and all were awesome.
steamed dumpling was way better than i expected, it’s big and full of taste.
I especially loved the tofu kimchi porkbelly which brings out deeper flavor than the other places’.
Overall, I can tell the foods are skilfully cooked and I would definitely comeback for another round.

Taste of Korea is a pretty new Korean place in the sully shopping center. When I first got in it was pretty empty but the employees there made us feel extremely welcomed. My mom and i were sat down and we told our waitress we didn’t normally eat Korean food. She was more than happy to explain the menu to us and she even gave us her catering number as well. The food was wonderful and the staff was very attentive. Great food, great service!

TL;DR — Korean restaurant with a modern café environment. A solid option for clean flavors without excessive seasoning. A tad pricey. Bring Korean parents here, they’ll like it.
I wasn’t sure what to expect after reading such mixed reviews on Unilocal.I kind of understand why people may not be satisfied because with a name like «Taste of Korea», the standards are set quite high for an authentic Korean restaurant. I would consider this a modern Korean restaurant but with a traditional Korean menu.
Taste — As a Korean-​American man, I am more accustomed to saltier foods. The palate here seems geared towards those sensitive to salt, or rather those who are accustomed to less salty things (i.e., native Koreans… hence why the restaurant is named Taste of Korea). This may be why there are mixed reviews on Unilocal.
I ordered a galbi-​tang and thought the broth tasted very clean. It didn’t have a huge kick in sodium, which was fine because it still had flavor. I added ggak-​du-​gi (radish kimchi) as well, which tasted pretty decent. My friends ordered the bbi-​bbim-​bap (mixed rice) and the kimchi jjigae. We all agreed that the food tasted good and clean.
Service — I came for lunch on a Wednesday. Lunch service was busiest from noon to 1 pm, but was fairly empty before and afterwards. Our waitress was the only one staffed and did a great job juggling all of us. I do wish she replenished our banchans (side dishes) without us having to ask, but it’s not a big deal to just ask. She also offered us hot boricha (Korean barley tea), which is nice and not offered at every single Korean restaurant (most but not all).
Environment — The place is nicely decorated with Korean café music playing in the background. Edison lights strewn about as well. Bathrooms are clean. The interior is not spacious so I would not bring a large group here unless you can grab the long table by the entrance.

Solid banchan fresh! Homemade noodles are amazing. However, core korean dish fail… Soybean paste soup is way diluted, show me the stinky soybean paste!
Ill give this place another shot.

I’m giving 2 stars only because of 1 meal experience. I ordered Ahl tang on Sat afternoon and the place was empty. The service was tentative and everything came out on time. However, the food value was absolute disaster. Broth was done nicely but only gave 2 fish roes that were about the size of pinky/​little finger and filled with tofu. When you order the same meal at Lotte, it cost $ 11 bucks but their broth is weak and w/​o adequate spices. This place is the exact opposite. Right amount of spices but fill they fill you up with tofu and not enough roe for $ 15 bucks. I may have to eat at other places instead. Trying to get positive experience but this is one of my fav dish…

Very clean and nice place, we tried soojebi, kalguksoo, and pancake. Very good taste. I will come back if I have another business here in Chantilly.

I found a new place to eat. This evening, I went for dinner, ordered an app and dough flakes in brisket broth (soojebi), I love the noodle soup, it was amazing. And the service was awesome, they kept tracking on the customers, especially, these two servers told me every single dishes that appeared on my table, I tip them 20%, hopefully it’s not too bad, cause they really did great job on service. Next time, I will bring my friends over to try it again.

Wanted to try this place out since they have bossam for the low (boiled pork belly). Bossam at other restaurants are usually $ 20+ for a plate. Here at Taste of Korea it’s only $ 13 which isn’t too bad. For $ 13 you get enough to possibly feed 2 people (if you’re kind of eating light or already sharing another plate).
Wait staff were tentative and were really friendly. Didn’t really try the other dishes so will definitely update in the future :)

I been here twice food here is OK
Nothing special many of them are way over priced and some dish were too blend and has no flavor.
I still go here because this is the only closest restaurant from home.

My co worker and I went there to grab some food. Décor is pretty nice.
Foods are way too overpriced. We got jok bal (pork fee) platter and seafood soup.
They forgot seafood soup and brought out squid dish. We waited at least 20 additional minutes until they brought out the seafood soup (40 mins total). No apologies from the waiters or waitresses.
Side dishes were not good either. Soup was made with msg.
Now onto jokbal… I know it might sound disgusting but 30 minutes after eating it, I had diarrhea and then threw up. It went on for few hours.
Conclusion: Their foods are not clean, slow service. And Really really overpriced.
Never again.

Awesome bi bim bap on a hot stone bowl. Definitely my new favorite Korean spot. The house tea is also pleasant.

Great Korean food. I had the yangji muhri soojebi, the soup was meaty, soojebi chewy, and portion huge. Would get again, beef broth excellent, reminds me of my grandmothers cooking! May need to salt to taste a bit.

Came here three weeks ago with my friends. They give a pleasant pumpkin soup as an appetizer and rice punch as dessert. I don’t know if this is temporary since they are a new business, but I liked it. We ordered jok bal, kal kuksu and galbitang.
Let me say that the kalguksj tastes like the crust of an apple pie. It was so savory and delicious but the noodles were a bit too short.
The jokbal was cut thicker than i’d like but i liked the flavors. I was sad they didn’t include the bone because i like picking on it.
The galbitang was very good, seasoned perfectly and I have nothing to critique.
The service was fabulous. The waitresses were all very kind and humorous.
I reserve one star because the side platters, or banchan, were all way too sweet. If you have diabetes, make sure you save your sugar intake for one meal at this restaurant. I am a huge fan of side platters but I could not eat any since they were all packed with sugar.
I came back a week ago but there was a long waiting line. The wait was over 45 minutes so I left. I take back another star because the restaurant is kind of small.

First time visit so I stuck to the basics — ordered the mung bean pancakes and dolsot bibimbap. Pancakes had almost a cornmeal texture; was well cooked and presented but not for me. Banchan selection was well balanced and quite tasty — not overwhelming chiles in each dish. Dolsot bibimbap came with separate dish of chile sauce and beef broth which was great — and the stone bowl was hot enough to get really nice crispy rice at the bottom. Overall very nice with good ambiance and attentive service as well!

Tried carry out at this place last night. Ordered bulgogi, bibimbap, and beef dumplings; however, we received bulgogi, steamed pork belly (we don’t eat pork), and vegetable dumplings. Was really disappointed when we got home to see that the order was all wrong except for the bulgogi.
The bulgogi was good and something I would order again.
The vegetable dumplings were ok. I’m not a huge fan of tofu and would have preferred the beef.
I would probably give this place another chance (if we can’t make it to either Annandale or Centreville) but never for carry out.

Visited the restaurant when it first open and the Korean food is as authentic as it gets. My wife is Korean and she loves the spicy noodle soup dishes (soojebi), especially the seafood version. She says the side dishes (banchan) tasted almost as good as home in Korea and it changes from day to day with a few constant like napa & radish kimchi. I had tried the stone rice bowl (dolsot bibimbap) and spicy pork (jeyok bbokeum). Love them both. Stone rice came out with the right amount of rice char and the dish is fill with all kind of vegetables (spinach, bellflower root, radish, carrot, barcken. etc) and some marinated beef. Spicy pork was well marinated before cooking over the grill. Spicy and sweet at the same time. Party in the mouth!
Definitely check this place out for its variety of authentic Korean food. Great addition to the Chantilly area and very close to Reston/​Herndon, west Fairfax area. Just likes its names says, you will get a taste of Korea when you are there.

Chantilly area has been barren of good Korean restaurants so you can imagine how excited I was to try out this new place! It’s great because driving out to Annandale just to get decent Korean food can be a hassle at times.
This place has a smaller menu than other Korean restaurants but it’s decent. We ordered:
E11 Ddukbaegi Bulgogi (Sliced marinated beef soup in a hot stone pot)
E15 Soondubu Jjigae (Spicy soft tofu stew with seafood)
E18 Haemul Dolsot Bibimbap (Bibimbap with pan-​fried seafood in a hot stone bowl)
Their ddukbaegi bulgogi had thinly sliced beef, green onions and glass noodles in it, all served in a hot bowl. Very homey and a great choice for those who have shy palates. For spicy food lovers, the Soondubu jjigae will definitely awaken your taste buds — loved this (the tofu is extra soft too)! It’s slightly spicier than the soondubu jjigae I’ve had at other Korean restaurants in Annandale, which I love. Their haemul dolsot bibimbap was dotted with pieces of octopus, clam and shrimp. I don’t eat octopus so I removed those bits and it tasted great. We also asked for extra red chili paste to make the dish spicier :)
Ambience is modern and quite nice. Service was adequate, though there were only two servers and it seemed like they had a little more on their plates than they could handle.
Overall 4 stars. I’ll be back to try more dishes soon!

Today we dropped in for another visit. I had the Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap, which definitely did not disappoint. For those unfamiliar with this dish: rice topped with mixed vegetables, meat and a fried egg. It’s served in a stone bowl and the rice at the bottom of the bowl takes on a «crusty» form, which makes for great texture. I asked for extra gochujang and the server brought it right out. It’s red pepper paste and optional, but I like lots of it in my bi bim bap.

Opened for just over a week. This is a tasty just as the Unilocal name for the suggests. However the neon sign says they are Taste of Korea. While their neon sign looks similar to the sign for Taste @ HongKong two doors down when I asked I was told there is no relation.
I’m looking forward to a return visit as I think this is a 5 star location once some little things get worked out.
They really went the extra mile to ensure our party had no food allergies. I applaud that they asked if we wanted forks and just didn’t assume I couldn’t use chopsticks since we aren’t asian.
Their new so it wasn’t a issue when we were told on ordering that the beef kimchi dumplings were actually Pork kimchi instead. That was fine with us and the pan fried version was very good.
Husband had the squid bokkeum which was skillful cooked. The plate was filled with tender pieces. However this preparation wasn’t as spicy as we would have liked. When we asked for some red pepper paste that met with confusion (not sure what we should have asked for). The waiter offered to recook the dish but we said no… In the end a sambal chili mixture came out which my husband liked.
I wanted to order a spicy chicken stew but that wasn’t yet available so I went with my usual favorite of kimchee jjigae. This version had a nice bite and was filled with pork. Alas it wasn’t till I got most of the way through till I realized there were no rice cakes. I happen to like them so was disappointed their version didn’t have any. I didn’t ask so not sure if a oversight or not.
Not sure if they will be adding any BBQ dishes or not. So consider this as a place for souls, stews, bokkeum, and bibimbap
Panchan was a nice assortment of a very good kimchi, bean sprouts, seaweed, radish, and dried fish (my fav)
Overall a nice spot !
