Shadowland Laser Adventures

The laser tag has two levels with a lot of room to hit the other players. I had a lot of fun here and will definitely do this again.

I took a group of kids ages 16 – 21 for a laser tag adventure. It was fun from the moment we arrived, where we noticed parking spaces specifically for players. It was easy to find, and in a really great location. After we parked, I saw another sign which clearly indicated you need to get a pass to put in your car for those spots. There was also plenty of available parking in the lot if you do not park specifically in the Shadowland spaces, but it would be a great advantage if there was a big show going on at the Expo Center right next door and if parking was limited!
From the moment we all stepped in, we were impressed with the facility. It was appropriately decorated for a laser experience, and there were even wall murals and specialty lighting. It was extremely clear where to go to pay for the experience, and tables offered the waiver you had to sign. Service was very friendly, and the cost for the game was clearly visible and a very great value.
While waiting for the next game to start, we played in the arcade section — and there were games here for kids of all ages. When it was time to lasertag, we were escorted in to a briefing area — and the employee who led the briefing was really great. She explained everything and made sure any questions were answered — and did an excellent job of informing the guests how to play.
Here is where I was most impressed — that kids of ALL ages were playing the game and it was fun whether there’s a gaggle of 10 year olds or adults playing. It is always fun and exciting! The lights, atmosphere, and features in the game room were excellent, and we loved the multi-​level areas to run around in.
This location was extremely clean, and well-​taken care of. Snacks were available and tasted great. You could purchase one game, or up to three for a discounted price. What a great way to spend a couple of hours with your family, forget about life for a little while, and just have some FUN!
Great experience — can’t wait to go back!

Really fantastic birthday party. Ask for Marjorie. She’s got great energy for little kids and is super thoughtful. She even offered to show a card trick when they ended early.
The location is clean, well organized and has a café area with seating for parents waiting. The kids had a ton of fun and the adults as well. Really exciting adventures and interesting game play. Would definitely go here again!

Um… so, my friends do come here a lot to do laser tagging. (Not a lot. Just for laser tagging, they come here.) Though, the laser tag was a bit cheesy as it was just lights, and the guns felt really light. The employees are very serious about the rules. I agree with safety first and serious health injury prevention but talking about not to run or cuss taking 15 minutes is kind of too long, especially if you are playing more than one mission, you have to go over it all over again. Some of the employees flirt with teens that are like 12, 13, 14, etc. I am 12, so that really creeps me out. No offense, employees. Thanks for my review, but I personally think there a better places to go laser tagging. But this place is decent to go to if you want a short laser tag game.
P. S. The place isn’t that clean, but that is understandable since they have a lot of visitors.

We had a birthday party here and the kids had a great time! The staff was helpful and friendly. They were great about changing the date at the last minute due to snow. Would have a party here again.

It had been quite some time since I played laser tag. We had a group of about 10 of us that came here for a friends birthday, she really wanted to play lasertag. The staff seemed almost irritated with the customers when they were trying to do the speech beforehand. The game itself is not what I remember playing when I was little, there was little to no people you could shoot since everyone was on the same team. Maybe they have different gameplay types and we just hit here on a bad night. Overall, the experience is what you make it, did I have fun? Yes. Will I possibly be back? Maybe.

Who doesn’t like acting like a kid sometimes? My gf turned 26 the Friday we went and wanted to do something besides the usual dinner/​bar scene (which actually were involved as well) — I had called earlier in the week saying we would have about 7 people on Friday and asked if it was necessary to make a reservation (I came here years ago and it was always so packed we were standing around for 20 – 30 minutes after arriving before we could start the first game), we did not need to make a reservation I was told. We arrived around 9:30, there were some kids, teenagers, and some people our age too. We signed the waiver stating if you get injured it’s your own fault, good call for them because it is pretty dark in there and I’ve tripped my fair share of times!
We paid for one game only $ 7 and some change, and waited to be called into the instruction room. It was only about a 3 minute wait before we all got called which was nice– interestingly everyone who was playing was in the game together, perhaps it was because there was 35ish people and we could all play at once or maybe it was because the game we played was called «zombies» and a larger group made more sense. The instructions were given– basically, «no running, no screaming, no fighting, no being mean» all well and good. now let’s play! The whole room felt giddy in anticipation, it was nice to act foolish and not care. You can really tell your age and exercise level once you do activities with children… my group of friends was pretty much winded and over the game after 15 minutes haha. it was a fun time though and I recommend it for a fun, silly break from the normal Friday night agenda.

Came to Shadowland for a friends b-​day party.
No, we aren’t 10 years old but we still had a great time… haha. This place isn’t the cleanest nor is it all that organized. Yes, it smells like sweat in here. Employees are nice but service is on the slower side. Some of the games don’t work and the restrooms aren’t the cleanest. I wouldn’t call myself a regular but I do love laser tag.
Come with friends and have a great time running around shooting each other with lasers.

I went here often (sorta) as a kid, and I always had a lot of fun. Tonight I went with friends for the first time in a while, and a few things caught my attention. We came at about 8:30 and were told that there would be a 30 to 45 minute wait, which was understandable given that we hadn’t called ahead. When we got into the briefing room, the session seemed to be significantly shorter than it used to be. The Marshall didn’t even describe how to shoot the guns. One of my friends had never been laser tagging before, and she struggled due to the lack of instruction. Other than that, excluding the usual puppy-​guarders, the evening was fun. My other complaint is that when my group paid, we paid for three games. However when it came time for the third, the employees informed us that there was not enough time for a third game. They did offer us vouchers, but I would’ve preferred a refund giving that I don’t last tag very often. Also, I question why the employees failed to mention the time limit when we were paying for the games. If you’re able to ignore an incompetent staff, this place is pretty fun though!

The only reason this place is getting 3 stars because it was a BLAST to play. The staff looks like they hate their job and are dying. There is a older gentleman, nice guy but looks like he hates it there. I feel bad for him. When they are telling us the rules of the game they are talking so fast and should figure out a better way of showing us examples.

I been here a few times, but ahh the appeal isnt rubbing on me. I been laser tagging several times since I was a kid so I feel like I know my stuff.
The place is very dirty, please don’t go to the bathroom. They sell food and drinks but are pricey. Playing their overall was boring I remember I played more than three games and got bored. Unlike Ultrazone, Shadowland likes to play it really safe and made up dumb rules to incorporate with their dumb games. Safety is key yes but not to the extent of me not having fun. On the plus side this place is only 7 dollars per person. If you could make the drive to Falls Church go to Ultrazone, go just go with a group of friends buzzed on Redbull.

This is at the top of the list every time I am in Virginia visiting family.
The last time I was in the area, we stopped by with about 9 kids and were helped out immediately. It was impressive because the gentlemen who was helping us was very busy but he made time to greet us and take care of our needs.
My kids had a great time and played so well with the other groups in the arena– it was really neat to see how well they got along and seeing how no one got left out of the fun.
My only mistake for this event was that I didn’t play myself. No better revenge for a dirty room and getting beat by mom!

Shadowland Laser Adventures is a cool place to take the kids to burn off some energy. Tucked away in a tiny shopping center next to Walmart with plenty of parking spaces, Shadowland is pretty busy on weekends. Went on a Wednesday and it was dead… no fun playing laser tag with 1 other person… so come out on Friday, Sat and Sundays.
Walking into a huge room, there is a huge desk where you can pay for the games and/​or buy snacks, video games, and a party room. Not much to do while waiting for the laser tag game to begin. Each game was about $ 7/​person. (Note: Be sure to search on the internet for some coupons. I was lucky enough to find a Buy 1, get 1 free coupon.) After we paid for the games, we were «brief-​ed» for 15 min by a young lady who kind of rambled off some instructions, she seemed annoyed by the talkative kids in our group. Whatever… just let me know how to work my laser gun and I’m going in on these youngsters. After that, we had to «suit up» in our assigned laser packs. FYI-​those suckers were heavy.
We had about 10 seconds to find a place to hide… The arena was larger than I expected. 2 floors, lots of ramps and great places to hide. After 15 minutes of running around with those heavy laser packs on, I was sweating and exhausted. They should really serve beer here :)

Went with some friends on a Friday night. Wasn’t to busy, played a different game each round we had which was great:) it is reasonable priced, the staff are friendly and it was a great place to chill.

A small, low key operation. Prices are reasonable, especially for drinks. Only light snacks for food.
For kids’ birthday parties, the staff is extremely helpful and easy going. They consistently make the event go smoothly.
If you have a pary scheduled, tell the invitees to show up a few minutes early. The first round of tag begins right at the start. Then the remaining two rounds are after the pizza, cake, etc.

This place is ok if you are lucky enough to get a pack that actually works. Some people in my party got a working pack/​laser and many did not. The staff did not seem concerned. ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ shot if you waste your money. But if you get a working pack, then it is a lot of fun.

What a fun time! I came here when my friend decided this is where she wanted to celebrate her 28^th birthday. Needless to say, aside from a set of parents who were chaperoning their kids’ party, we were the oldest people there.
It was definitely fun to relive being a kid again but just be prepared to hang out with a bunch of other kids. I didn’t mind the younger kids so much, it was just the teens that acted like they were all that which drove me crazy.
The set up was cool but I don’t really have any other experiences to compare it to. The room seems pretty big, and there are 2 levels with lots of ramps and corners to hide in. The lasers were a little buggy as there was one game where my laser pack just kept dying on me.
The place isn’t very clean and I understand it’s kind of annoying for the staff to have to go through and clean up the area every 10 minutes before the next group goes in to play but it’s not that hard to tidy up the place! Also maybe it’s because the staff is young but they seemed to be power tripping when they went over the rules and demanded we respect their authority. Then they spent their free time flirting with the teen girls. Come on!
Also –they could do without printing out the scores for every single person in each round of a game. Let’s just say ~ 30 people playing each game at least 3 or 4 times, that’s a lot of paper waste. They should just display the scores on a screen and if someone wants their own print out then they can request on. Such a waste of paper!
Despite all the fun we had, I only give this place 2 stars. I can’t compare it to other laser tag places but I felt like the staff either took their job too seriously (threatening us if we don’t listen to them they’ll make us do something embarrassing) or didn’t care at all (flirting incessantly with the teens) and the place was kind of a dump (just judging by the waiting/​party area).

Pretty fun. but probably because we went to the restaurant nearby and got buzzed off some drinks.
The place seemed dead. only people playing laser tag were the group of us (6 people). the people working there were young. and seemed like they hated their job.
The lasertag place is in one room. but there are ramps/​stairs. lots of variety of games to play in the laser tag room as well. pretty fun. but could use some work.
