Bought a piece of crap car about 10 months ago and have had nothing but problems. The main problem was a constant stutter at 45 – 50 MPH. Everywhere we went could neither find a problem or would find something else wrong (usually very expensive something else)! The problem was never fixed and I had given up hope on getting it fixed. My wife lost any faith she may have ever had in mechanics. One day I was searching auto shops and I was looking for the best rates and I found Main Street. The only issue was it was about 40 minutes away. I didn’t want to drive all that way to have my wallet ravaged again. All the positive reviews tempted me to try getting this car fixed one more try and I’m very glad I did! Despite having to spend more money, Tony and his crew found he problem and fixed it… FINALLY! I strongly recommend them for any of your car’s needs! Even gave a military discount!

I’ve been coming to MST&A with my cars ever since they opened. Tony and Dave are always very polite and have taken the time to answer my questions regarding repairs to my vehicles. They’ve also worked with me to determine multiple fixes to problems they have found with my vehicles. The waiting area is always very clean, and the free Wifi is something I’ve become dependent upon when I visit!
Most recently, I came in for a state inspection and requested they also take a look at the power steering as I suspected an issue with it. As soon as I mentioned the potential issue to Tony, he immediately began asking questions and discussing the likely scenarios. He also informed me that depending on the cause, it’s possible the vehicle would fail inspection. Sure enough during the inspection they discovered a high-​pressure power steering hose that had been damaged and was leaking. I went home and researched the issue and other owners had reported the same symptoms for the issue I experienced. The MST&A team had the new part in the next morning and completed the repair on time.
The car wash here is simply the only one I go to. I always get the Hudson. Occasionally I’ll splurge and get an interior cleaning (I’ve only gotten that service maybe 3 times ever). I’ve never been anything but extremely satisfied with the interior and exterior cleaning services.
These days I change all my oil and most filters on my own, but the MS Oil and Lube shop has done a great job with my cars when I used to bring them in.

I arrived at this random shop to buy a BMW that was for sale just nearby. I pulled up in a Toyota Corolla with a terrible wobble that I kept driving on. I asked to have all my tires balanced while I checked out this car for sale nearby. I also explained that I was pretty sure I had bent a rim really bad somewhere and asked if they could put it on the rear for now so I didn’t feel the wobble so badly as I didn’t want to replace the bent rim until I had some new tires ready.
I went outside and monitored the mechanics at a distance. The mechanic placed my rim on the floor and I could visibly see from a short distance how bent this rim really was.
It was so bent it folded the metal edge onto itself a couple of times and barley held air. This mechanic repaired the rim with Brute Force! I was amazed at how much impact, tooling, and sweat was required to reshape this rim. He had to hammer and pry so hard for 45 minutes on this single rim with others standing on it!
He didn’t know who I was or if I was male or female. I’m a mechanic (male anyway), I buy and sell cars, and this mechanic treated my little beater with love. Upon his completing the job I had to enter the shop to shake his hand. Saved me hours of my own labor and saved $ 150 bucks on a new rim! It was a good day!
I am recommending this shop to all my own customers, co-​workers, friends, and family. I feel better as a fellow mechanic knowing that at Main Street T&A I have a team I trust to send them to. Thank you so much Main Street Tire & Auto!

Tony was very helpful when I got my service done and the price was the best in the area. The service did not take long.

These guys are great. They’re always busy and you may have to wait a while – that’s ok with me, means people trust them. Generally garages have a rep as being dishonest – these guys shatter that stereotype. Tony, the owner/​manager tells you up front what you need and what it’s going to cost – can’t ask for more.

These guys are dishonest. I recently took my car in for emissions testing. I was shocked when they said they can’t conduct the test because the exhaust had a leak. They said the flex pipe had a leak and it would cost 700 dollars to replace the part. They said the fine would leak into the cabin and was a safety concern. I felt suspicious because I sat in traffic all the time and never smelled any fumes. They pulled up the part on the computer monitor and I said it sounded expensive since it only required 4 bolts and gaskets to be replaced. They said the bolts are rusted and it may take about 1.5 hours labor. At this point, I decided to go home and regroup as I wasn’t ready to drop 700 without getting a second opinion.
Now, unbeknownst to them, I’m a capable DIYer who does most of my own car work, anything from replacing thermostat, spark plugs to engine oil. I raised my car on jack stands to find this mystery leak and could not find it. After meticulously inspecting everywhere, I concluded there was no leak and any other inspection station would pass my car with flying colors. What’s worse is that the part they claimed was leaking was 150 dollars max. Even with dealer’s labor rates, they should not be charging me more than 400 total with labor. So where did they come up with the 700 dollar estimate?
Bottom line, if you do not look like you know about cars, these guys will come up with a bogus story to take your hard earned money. STAY AWAY! Oh btw, I’m writing this review right after taking my car somewhere else and passing my emissions. There was no exhaust leak anywhere.

Pricey but I fee with it if you’re the lazy type that doesn’t want do all that. Has ice amenities and convenient. Nice people. Not hassling for tips or anything that’s sorts which is a plus. So much better that Dulles 28 centre auto wash out near Loudoun.

Very pleasant experience as I needed an alternator replaced in my Acura MDX a few weeks ago (sorry for the late review). This is a very customer driven operation and it shows. Will return for any of my other vehicle needs. Thanks guys!

Went in for a state inspection — staff was courteous and professional. Weather was nice, so we waited outside until done. Hadn’t tried this place in years but will return.

I went in for a safety inspection and Main Street failed my inspection because of inadequate rear brakes. They would charge $ 550 to replace my rear brakes and rotors. I thought that suspicious as I had them replaced not too long ago. I brought the car to a different repair shop that I trusted but farther away and they confirmed that my brakes were far from needing replacement. I will not go to Main Street Tire and Auto again as I do not trust them

HONEST, DEPENDABLE SERVICE EVERY TIME. We take all our vehicles here.
The staff and mechanics are knowledgeable and go out of their way to be helpful. They will give you a walk around and show you every item that needs to be fixed and why. They go into detail on their explanations. They only charge for NECESSARY work — what a concept — wish every business did that!
It’s nice to know there is a business so close to home that caters to it’s clients as well as they do.
They offered me same day service on a Saturday by fitting me in and went out of their way keeping me up to date 3 times on the progress.

My mother and I took in her new car. We drove it to camp the day before and the car was completely covered with bug, gravel dust and even pollen. The treated our car as if it were a Bently. My mother’s car is restored to showroom cleanliness. Prices are great and the service is FIRST CLASS. We will definitely come here weekly. We’ve found our car wash home! :)

I finally found an honest and reasonable mechanic shop. I had a good feeling the first time I brought my can in two years ago but it took a couple more times before I was sure. this last visit was the deciding factor. my son tried to change his own rear brakes and striped the bolts over tightening then. it was close to disastrous but main street was able to repair it plus they finished the brakes at the same time all for less than $ 50! When I consider another visit that I knew they could have tried to up sell me on work that was marginally needed but all they did was point it out and mentioned it probably would need attention at some point, well I will just say I am sold on them.
if you are in the Chantilly area and definitely in South Riding I would highly recommend giving them a try and hopefully you will get the same treatment I have.

Recently I went there for an oil change. I hoped to use this opportunity to check this place out for possible repair jobs in the future. Upon arrival, I was told it could be done in 30 –40 minutes. Well, after a long wait, I am not exactly impressed with their service.

Main Street Tire and Auto has been my go-​to garage for auto repairs since 2011. I should have written a review much sooner but what happened today finally prompted me. I showed up with my check engine light on. They ran the diagnostics (within 10 minutes no less) and Tony told me it seemed to be a finicky gas cap. Great news! And, on top of that, he didn’t charge me for running the test!
Then, I asked for a quote on another service item that my oil change guy told me I needed. Main Street had performed this service previously and after looking up my past invoice Dave told me I wasn’t due for several thousand more miles! Wow!
What happened today with Tony and Dave only further validated the level of trust I have for the business. Being a woman who has been railroaded before by unscrupulous garages that added or inflated unnecessary service items it’s so great to know I can depend on Main Street!

This was a great little spot for me to get my car inspected. They were quick and professional. The lobby was clean and had free wi fi which was SUPER nice. Wifi! Wow! It totally helped to kill the time. I have sat many an hour in a repair shop and I don’t think once has any of them had free wi-​fi!!! Usually the best I find is some magazine geared towards men to try to entertain myself. The wi-​fi certainly helped to keep my 4 year old happy! I will be back here for sure for future inspections and possibly even repairs!

Good place in northern Virginia to take your Saab for repairs and service. The mechanic, Al Huseman, previously worked on my Saabs at S&S Auto in Warrenton and is about as knowledgeable about them as you’re going to find.
The shop itself is clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the prices are reasonable for a local independent. I haven’t bought tires from them, yet, so I can’t rate them on their selection. My one complaint is they are located nearly an hour from where I live.

Main Street Tire and Auto was recommended to me by another shop and I was not disappointed. The guys at the shop were courteous, friendly, and best of all, honest. I needed to have two new tires installed and while the tires were off, we realized that the alignment wasn’t done correctly by the previous installer. Seeing that this was an unexpected expense, the shop worked with me on the price until I was comfortable. There was no sale pressure from the staff which is always refreshing and welcome.
I would highly recommend this location to anyone in the area.

We’re major fans of Tony & his team at Main Street. Since they opened, we’ve tried to support them as a local business. We’ve had services both minor and major done there. The staff is universally helpful. The waiting areas are clean. The prices are in line with most others. I like having a non-​chain that does almost the full spectrum of auto work.
One visit in particular is worth sharing. For several years I had driven a beater to commute to and from Arlington during rush hour — had always seen accidents and didn’t want to risk a nicer car. I bought a 93 Honda for $ 1200 and drove it every day for three years — got more than my money out of that little car. In any case, one day a vibration started, and became much more pronounced rapidly, any time you pressed on the gas. Whatever it was, it was getting worse by the hour. We took it in, demonstrated by gunning the engine once or twice, and left it with the team who were all gathered around trying to figure it out. Sure enough, just a few minutes after departing, Tony called me back and mournfully asked us to return. We did so to find three or four mechanics covered in oil and other liquids, the walls and tool chests sprayed with lubricants and coolant. We asked if everyone was alright — they had gunned the engine just like I did to demonstrate the problem as the techs were leaning into the engine. The block and radiator cracked, spewed oil everywhere, and once and for all killed my little Honda. The techs were apologetic without any need — they hadn’t done anything wrong. Tony was very helpful in disposing of the car (motor — gone).
I enjoy working with the team there, they’ve got our business — between them and Hogan, you’re covered in South Riding for auto work.

The AC in my husband’s 4Runner recently went out. He also needed to get a power steering flush. Since moving out to South Riding, he has had difficulty finding a trustworthy place for repairs. He has always been one to take his car to the dealer, but his mechanic left the dealership in Woodbridge and he was not happy with service received from the dealership in Chantilly.
We went online ( Unilocal of course) looking for someone who specialized in Toyotas and had good ratings. Main Street Tire & Auto came up. We had already used them to replace one of my tires and knew the crew working there were extremely friendly so decided to give them a try.
They performed all the work, did a 32 point safety check and advised the battery in the truck needed to be replaced as well. Since the battery had never been replaced in a 2006 vehicle, we had no doubts about that suggestion. Their prices, compared to the dealer were extremely reasonable. The mechanics were honest — had they told us the AC repair was something other than just a recharge we would have probably believed them since the car is 7 years old. My husband was extremely pleased with the work done on his vehicle and will be taking it there next time it needs service.

I had some wheel locks to be installed and I chose this place due to the fantastic reviews I see here on Unilocal.It was a trek but I have to say it was well worth the trip. I know it is a minor job and any tire and auto shop can do it but what stands out is the quality of customer service they offer.
I will def come back and try their other services.

These guys are always great. They give me a ride back home if a repair might take all day and pick me up as well. If something isn’t quite right after it’s been repaired, they’ll fix it without any additional charge.
The car wash used to be great when they first opened. I feel like the price no longer matches the service. My car was left with streaks and the carpets and seats weren’t vacuumed very well.
