This was our 1st time at Daves. We stopped in for lunch and we’re glad we did. The food was terrific. I ordered the steamed spiced shrimp and my husband ordered the fried catfish. Both were perfectly cooked. I am typically picky about where I get seafood. Stuck on a gluten free diet limits my choices at a sandwich place. So I decided to give the shrimp a try. It was the right decision. The catfish was cooked the way family down south make it. My husband really enjoyed it. We also tried the collards, coleslaw and hush puppies and found these to be pleasing as well. Bathrooms are very clean. Staff is courteous.

My boyfriend and I have been coming to Dave’s Seafood for about a year now. We have enjoyed it every time. We would usually get the cheese burger, salmon, mac and cheese, fries, or a sub. We hadn’t been there in a couples months so today we decided to make a pick up order. My boyfriend decided to try something new and order the mozzarella sticks. So as we are eating, we first take out the little tray of mozzarella sticks and the marinara sauce. My boyfriend says while he was eating one of the mozzarella sticks that he dipped into the marinara sauce, he felt something in the midst of chewing, something that felt not easily chewable. He thought maybe it was an onion, so he proceeded to take it out of his mouth and held it up to the light. What we saw was a yellow, thick, rough textured, piece of what looked like ripped off skin almost the size of a pinky nail. It even had the little lines on it as if it were part of a finger print or the skin lines that appear on dead skin. We don’t know if it was the marinara sauce or the mozzarella sticks. We are disgusted. We never had issues with Dave’s Seafood. However, my boyfriend says that when he went there today it was a different lady that he had never seen at the front and he said she portrayed herself as not being clean. …All we know is, right now my boyfriend is afraid to even eat the rest of the food. Probably won’t come here again. I quote, he says, «it’s one thing to find a hair, but it’s another to find an actual piece of skin.»

Wow, I was really blown away by this place. A coworker had been telling me about it for weeks and we finally went in. I would highly recommend going if you love fried seafood. It is not greasy, the breading is on point and their team, fresh brewed tea, is perfectly sweetened. I had fried catfish, collard greens, Mac-n-cheese as well as three jumbo chicken wings with their mombo sauce. I was miserably full when done but wanting more! I will definitely be going back. Awesome hole in the wall, great dive.

Okay, I’ve only been to this location once. It is not really easy to get in and out of, but the staff was friendly, and walking in the door it smelled like fish(in a good way). I stopped in because among other things, I wanted a menu(I can’t find them online). I got the catfish platter with hush puppies and coleslaw to go. Because I knew my trip home would take awhile, I opened the styrofoam container a bit, to keep everything crisp. I ate one hush puppies and ½ piece of fish. It was way too huge for more than that. I’m heating up the fish as I write this, I already ate the hush puppies and coleslaw as a snack. This is good! The catfish with fresh-squeezed lemon(at home) and luscious tartar sauce was wonderful. The coleslaw is nice and creamy, and I actually at it on some hush puppies. The hush puppies tasted as I think they should. I now have the menu, and can treat the rest of my family!

I come here quite often as this is good quality food. Freshly cooked and the only place in NORTHERNVIRGINA that you can get A WHOLEREALCHICKENWING! Their crabsticks are amazing and their fried fish pieces are HUGE! The staff is always wonderful and nice. I always call ahead vs. coming to order and wait. I have never had anything I didn’t like here. I was also excited when they started breakfast. SCRAPPLE, EGGANDCHEESE on toast is WORTHIT!!!

I decided to give this place a try for dinner last night and I loved the food! I wasn’t in the mood for seafood, so I tried the Philly cheesesteak sub and fried chicken wings with mumbo sauce… DELICIOUS. I grew up in Maryland where many places had yummy chicken with mumbo sauce, but now I found the next runner up. Note: If you are in a rush try to call in the chicken wings ahead of time since there is the usual 8 – 15 minute waiting period(also considering if they are busy). Customer service: The lady at the register was nice and reminded us that if we add $ 2.39, we could get a medium 24oz. drink and fries. I wasn’t paying attention and got a drink from the fridge and didn’t get my «money’s worth.» No biggie, but just a tip. Atmosphere: I gave this place a four star because I find it important to enjoy the restaurant environment/appearance. There is limited seating and the space could use some updating to draw in more customers that aren’t familiar with the positive Unilocal reviews. Better tables/chairs, a pop of wall color, or something to make it unique and comfy. The bathrooms were clean and had a lot of air fresheners, so that’s a plus. Overall, I look forward to going here more to take some quick yummy food home!

The Customer Service is horrible, and when I asked to speak with a manager… She said she was the owner! Rude is not the word, she caught a attitude when I was asking about the prices over the phone! «Told me she’s doesn’t know every price» come get a menu and when I got there she got my order wrong! I will not eat from these RUDE People again, maybe if she spoke better English it would be less confusing-So Drop the attitude lady!

I have dined her since it first opened and they have never disappointed me. I continue to turn people on to this wonderful establishment any time I can. If you want good food and great service Dave’s Seafood is the place to be! Oh, and the chicken wings with mumbo sauce is awesome! Reminds me of DC and MD. I can get my food on this side of the bridge.

I got fried croakers with fried rice and green beans. Their tartar sauce was so creamy and delicious. Their fried rice was good too! What a great find! Prices were very reasonable too. Their fish sandwich wasnt good though– it looked pretty small and sad… chicken wings were so good too! Give it a try!

Food still okay. Price not worth it to me anymore. I noticed the menu changed slightly and they took out some tables so I’m guessing maybe the operators changed.

I have no idea how this place and good reviews. My french fries taste like fish we were the only people in the place. And it still took a half an hour for us to get our food because they forgot it was sitting on the counter waiting for us. this was in the middle of lunch.

First time here and came for lunch. it was okay. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the menu never ends. So many options it took me a while to decide what to get. I did a walk in order and it took about 20 – 25 minutes for the food to get to me but I don’t mind waiting for fresh cooked food. It is a smaller size building with limited seating so I wasn’t surprised with how busy and packed it got. I got the fish sampler(1 Whiting, 1 Trout, 1 Catfish with 2 sides) and I had a bite of my coworkers tilapia; all fried fish. Again the fish was cooked to order and was cooked perfectly. The trout and tilapia were delicious but I wasn’t all that excited about the whiting and catfish. Don’t get me wrong the whiting and catfish were good, but just not for me. As for the sides I got an order of mashed potatoes and green beans. definitely NOT getting those again. Both sides were bland and you could tell the green beans were canned and the mashed potatoes were pre-packaged. The potatoes just had a chemical taste to them, not sure what that was all about. Next time I go I will have to try the fried chicken wings. A few people around us got it and it looked and smelled pretty darn good. Hopefully the other sides won’t taste as bad.

A local sandwich place. I had the italian sub with fries and it was good. They definitely put plenty of meat on the sandwiches, unlike subway. Definitely give it a try, the staff is very friendly.

Very simple review. The staff is always pleasant, glad you came and appreciate our business. The food is excellent. The sandwiches are made with love by someone that cares whether or not it tastes like the best sandwich. PRIDE goes a long way. Awesome clams, oysters, fries, wings and a hell of a tuna sandwich. Great selection any day of the week.

This is my 2nd time coming here and never really disappointed. I couldn’t really decide what I wanted so I got the whiting platter with double fries(comes with two sides), a Jr cheese burger, and 3 piece jumbo wings. This is my first time trying the burger and wings. The burger is made with fresh ground beef and you can tell. It’s not those frozen preformed patties. My first time here I did a walk in to go order and tried to order the wings, but they said it takes 10 to 15 minutes. I understand why… the wings are huge and need to be cooked for a while. I called ahead this this time and it was huge. Mumbo sauce is really a DC and MD thing and pretty cool that they have that here. It’s essentially sweet and sour sauce. A lot of the carry out Chinese restaurants in DC and MD carry wings fries and mumbo sauce. The whiting platter was just as good as the first time… but being fried it would be better eaten there than taken home. Gets a little steamed and the batter gets a little soft by tye time I get home… but what can you expect from freshly fried food stuck in a Togo container. Fries are the general frozen crinkle cuts type, but essential for a fried fish platter. The whiting are the frozen filets that are thawed and battered in a corn meal flour which is awesome. Not fishy tasting at all. Maybe a stray bone here and there but that’s to be expected. I grew up In my parents bbq restaurant in DC and they had fried fish platters on the menu and this really reminds me of it. My only complaint is the amount of tartar and hot sauce they give you. For 3 big whiting filets it’s definitely not enough. total I spent about 17 dollars… the prices are reasonable. Give it a shot(I saw a lot of people order their subs… which are incredibly long).

The fried chicken wings are huge and perfect with the Mombo sauce and some hot sauce. I also enjoy the fried chicken gizzards. Chewy, but not too tough. Just tender enough! Nice crunch! Call ahead your order or be prepared to wait as they fry everything fresh. Be careful, it’s HOT! The foam container melts a bit.
