Sadly, I moved away to a town with little to no opportunity to go and eat the world. There is not a Pakistani or Indian place in my zip code. And two years later, I still think about the Chicken Bone-​In Karahi from here.
I was a weekly, and sometimes a bi-​weekly, patron and I love the owner and his son. They are just wonderful, gentle people and I miss them very much.
Thank you for all of the years of my weekly Chicken Bone-​In Karahi, the best I have ever had or will ever experience.

O M G!!! This place has chickpeas that will literally blow your mind!!! Seriously, I find myself craving them all the time. I always order the spicy lamb karahi for 2 with chickpeas and naan. Ive yet to try anything else here but I’m sure everything else is just as good or even better! The prices are a bit steep but it’s so delicious I don’t even care!

Heard about this place from an acquaintance and decided to check it out when my dad was in town. Unbeknownst to me, it was going to be my his first time trying Indian food and thankfully this place did not disappoint! I really appreciated the family friendly atmosphere, hospitality and complimentary rice pudding to offset the spiciness of the dish we choose :-)! Check this place out!

My mom and I shared the butter chicken entrée and it was a LOT of food. We even packed some of the butter chicken to bring home. While looking at the menu, I was confused as to why the meal would be $ 13.50, but it actually ended up being a great value. It came with two large pieces of naan, rice, a small salad, and chickpeas.
The chicken itself was extremely tender. Probably the most tender chicken in any butter chicken I’ve ever had! We got the mild version and I loved it! It might have been a tad bit sweet but I actually enjoyed that. Next time I go, I’ll make sure to try the medium spiciness version so that it’s not so sweet. My mom felt that the sauce was a bit too sweet too. Also, I wish there had been a bit more chicken, but I was okay with the amount they included because of how much naan and rice I had to dip in the sauce. They included as much chicken as any other Indian restaurant would.
The chickpeas were absolutely delicious. The rice had a subtle spice in them that I really liked but my mom said she preferred plain rice. The naan was your average naan.

So after much perusing of neighboring lunch spots, I decided to switch it up and go for something out of my comfort zone. I opened the door to the restaurant and saw a line 6 people deep (that tells me the food is good but I don’t have that kind of time to waste during the workday), to which I made a U-​turn and went back to my job and called the order in, instead. 10 minutes later I walked back in and all those who had been standing in line had moved to tables or taken their To-​Go orders back to work. Paid for my chicken kabob lunch and headed back to work with my To-​Go meal in tow. All of it was pretty good, the chicken was a strange neon orange (Maybe from saffron?) but was juicy and flavorful. my gripe: I’d give up half the rice for another chunk or two of chicken. The green sauce, «Chutney», as I heard the employee call it, was awesome, and was glad I asked for a second side of it. It was out of my regular price range for lunch, as the chicken kabob ran $ 12.99, but I was a little burned out on the neighboring spots.

This might be one of the most awesome discoveries I’ve made in quite some time. Don’t let the «chicken» name fool you. They have lots of options, and even though it looks like one of those small, fast casual kabob places, it’s more than that. They actually have real Indian dishes too. The chicken murg saagwala was outstanding, as was the chicken tikka, chana masala, etc. The naan pieces are YUUUUUUUUUUUGE. Everything is so flavorful and delicious.
My only knock would be that they use a little too much oil in the Indian dishes, but it could’ve been an off day and certainly didn’t take away from the flavor. This is a must-​visit for everyone and a must-​return-​to for me!

So, so GOOD! We stopped by on a whim and so glad we did.
The chickpeas were the best I’ve ever had. I ordered the medium spicy version of Chicken Karahi at their suggestion. So very delicious. Glad I went with medium spicy because it was perfect for me.

I don’t know why it took me so long to write a review for this amazing place. I probably pick up food from there at least once or twice a week.
I personally love their Butter Chicken. I get mine to-​go, spicy, with a large side of chick peas.
If you get it for dine-​in, there’s a bit less butter chicken but you do get a side of chickpeas and a salad. The charcoal chicken meal is good too, that’s my second pick.

Well, my first time trying this place… I was intrigued by some of the good reviews, and I just couldn’t do Burger King or Popeyes’ Chicken again. I got the butter chicken. It was delicious, and a huge portion. Only one complaint — the rather rude guy who took my takeout order and then, when I showed up to pick it up, unsmilingly pushed a paper bag at me…

Read mixed reviews about this place, so I’ve been a bit hesitant to give Charcoal Chicken a try for the longest time.
I was in the mood for kabobs and didn’t feel like driving far for it. Since this is in the Chantilly area, which is close to home, it’s very convenient. I personally haven’t visited the restaurant yet. Hubby has always ordered take out from here. He said the employees are friendly and quick.
Their kabobs are on point flavor wise and juicy. The servings are generous. Kabob platters come with rice, salad, naan and chick peas. The naan is very fresh. Slightly crisp on the outside and fluffy within. Their chick peas are addicting. What depth of flavor! They remind me of my favorite chick peas from Kabob Palace in Arlington. Our favorite Karahi place is also in Arlington, but we decided to give theirs a try. So glad we did, it was delicious. We didn’t have to wait long for it and the flavors are all there. It’s gingery, slightly spicy, and savory goodness. Highly recommended.
So glad this place is close to home and that we tried it out.

So I’ve clearly been on a desi food kick lately … and charcoal chicken left me super impressed. The portions were large, the food was authentic (so good that I finished it before thinking to take a picture), serves REAL heat, has naan that is flaky and soft and melts in your mouth — I just can’t say enough good things.
Unfortunately, they are located deep in suburban VA so my chances of visiting again are slim — but if I’m in the area, I’ll definitely be getting some goat karahi again!

Never judge a restaurant by its strip mall… when in Northern Virginia.
I’m a restaurant snob, for sure. I don’t do strip mall dining too tough, and this spot is signature strip mall. No frills décor. No frills nothing. BUT THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS! The price point is right. And you get large portions WITH NAAN!
This is definitely some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. I’d eat there all the time if I lived close by.

They were open on memorial day so we could swing by and eat after our camping trip. Enjoyed the Karahi’s a LOT. The kebab was good too.

Their must have is the chicken karahi. It boasts a ton of flavor from various spices, generous bits of jalapeño, cilantro, and ginger. It’s my favorite karahi in the area. You know a dish is good when you crave it. It’s that memorable.

Three reasons to come to this place:
1) The service is amazing, the lady that served us was so friendly, it made you feel like you were eating in her home. Whatever you needed she didn’t hesitate to get you anything. more rice, more bread, more sauce? No problem!
2) THE CHICKEN KARAHI. first time ever having it, and I’ve been craving it for the past few days! I love the fresh herbs, and ginger on top of this chicken stew.
3) Chick peas are not overly oily, and have a lovely smoky developed flavor.
My friend had the butter chicken which was pretty good as well, a little on the sweeter side but still worth getting again!
The kabobs were okay, I’m a huge fan of Reston Kabob so I compare all kabobs to that, even though this place is Pakistani food, not Afghan. So keep that in mind, the yogurt sauces and kabobs are different and smaller.
