Second round of furniture purchasing was as pleasant as the first purchase last year. No surprises, delivery was as scheduled and the furniture superbly crafted.

Bought a desk chair from Bare Woods a couple years ago, and love it. This review is about service when the gas piston went flat; they ordered a new one and replaced it at no charge. Great chair, better service. Highly recommend.

Bare Woods & Home Furnishings is freaking awesome. Why? Their selection of wood furniture and home accessories is excellent, well-​made and most items are customizable.
Located in an unassuming corporate park, Bare Woods sells everything from desks, to dining tables, to bookcases, to bedroom sets, to rocking chairs – you name it, they got it.
Despite the name, and the «Amish-​syle» pieces referenced on their site, Bare Woods actually carries many more on-​trend items, such as wood slab tables (pricier than other table options). I am pretty smitten with their ladder bookcase, Charleston bedroom set, and all their dining tables. Wood options include budget-​friendly parawood and higher-​quality and more expensive maple.
Most of their products are unfinished and can be customized however your heart desires. However, colors and finishes depend on the manufacturer. If you like the distressed look, many items can be distressed to give them that aged look, which is so popular right now (and hopefully will be for a while…).
Prices vary. Some items are very affordable (customized dining table without chairs for under $ 400). Other items are standard (about $ 800 for a finished chest). And as mentioned earlier, the wood slab tables are on the expensive end, but there’s probably a good reason for it. Overall, Bare Woods is still much cheaper than some brand-​name chains and fancy furniture stores.
This is a no-​frills, family-​owned business. Don’t expect HGTV displays. Everything is crammed together in a warehouse-​like setting; however, the beautiful furniture speaks for itself, no need for gussying up. The service is also quite different from what you would encounter in a major retailer.
The staff, probably all in the family, do not work for commission (they confirmed this) so they are never pushy and they aren’t overly eager either. They pretty much leave you alone to explore and just tell them to come to them if you have questions. They’re happy to assist you with just about any request.
My hubby was hoping for a low-​lying bookcase that could be used as a console, and one of the sales representatives provided us with a binder full of items fitting what he thought we were looking for. He also offered suggestions on other ways we could achieve that look.
Delivery is $ 100 regardless of how much you spend. Alternatively, you can borrow someone’s truck and pick up your buy (s) yourself.

This place has horrible customer service. I ordered a dresser in November. It was supposed to be delivered in mid December. Mid December rolled around and they contacted me to notify me that the dresser was made out of the wrong wood. I went in to look at it. Not only was it made out of the wrong wood but the drawer configuration was not what I ordered. They didn’t even notice that until I brought it to their attention. Not only that they gave me a hard time about taking the bubble wrap off so I could see the piece. They contacted the manufacturer to remake the dresser in the correct wood and with the correct drawer configuration. I was offered free delivery on the replacement piece to compensate the mistake and delay. January/​February rolls around and I contact them to find out about the delivery date. They notify me that the piece was not on the truck because it did not pass quality control. hmmm, funny that the first piece passed considering it was the wrong wood and drawer configuration. At that point I asked to talk to the manager. Hagen, my sales rep, informed me that he was a manager. I asked to talk to the owner. I was put in contact with Matt. Matt offered a $ 100 credit. I said that was not going to cut it. He said he would talk to the manufacturer and get back to me. He let me know the manufacturer would give me $ 300 off. I felt $ 300 and free delivery would do. I had been waiting so long for this dresser. Finally, the beginning of March, the dresser is ready for delivery. I call to schedule. They reneged on the free delivery ($ 100 value). I was furious. Hagen told me that offer was withdrawn when I didn’t take the first dresser. WHAT? Oh, let me get this, I was going to pay full price for a dressed made of maple when I ordered oak AND had the wrong drawer configuration… just to get free delivery? WRONG! Lie # 2 Hagen was caught telling. The first lie was that the manufacturer was to blame for the wrong wood when really Matt told me Hagen did not fill out the paperwork properly. I asked to talk to Matt. Hagen told me he wasn’t going to speak to me, he was to busy. Really? Then I asked again for the owner. Hagen said «That’s not going to happen!» Hagen told me they did not give out the owner’s info. And I said I wanted to leave a message for the owner.
All in all this was a horrible experience. I have never been point blank lied to like this. I was treated like an enemy, not a customer. They did refund the 50% I paid for the dresser. I will not be getting the dresser and its now 5 month after I ordered it. I even sent them multiple referrals while working with them because I felt like they were at least making an effort with the free delivery and $ 300 credit to make things right after 5 months and 3 delays.
I would caution people DO NOT SHOP here!!! There are 3 other stores in the area that do the exact same thing. They have better reputations.

I’ve bought quite a bit of furniture from Bare Woods — some from their Warrenton location, and even more from their Chantilly location.
Lots of great hardwood pieces — many unfinished. And you can opt to have them finished (paint or stain) depending on the piece. Of course there is an extra charge if you want them to finish the piece.
They deliver, but they do not assemble. So if you have something that needs assembly, please be aware of this.
