History

Established in 2008.

After gaining experience as corporate counsel and a private practitioner, Robert D. Atkins was presented with the opportunity to build his own practice, including patent prosecution and litigation matters. He decided to open his own law firm in 2008, with his office manager and paralegal extraordinaire, Maritza O’Neill, who had worked for many years with major law firms in California. «We took all the lessons learned collectively over the years and applied them to the new enterprise. Almost all of my clients followed us to the new law firm and we had to be ready from the beginning to fully support the clients’ needs,» Atkins says. Atkins focuses on the legal aspects of the firm, while O’Neill handles the administrative operations. Together and with the help of the associates and staff, a synergy is achieved which allow Patent Law Group to offer flexible, competitive rates with a high level of service for your patents and trademarks.

Business Owner

Robert Atkins practices nationally and internationally in the areas of patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyright, licensing and technology transactions, software and computer law, and litigation. His experience includes patent prosecution, patent portfolio development, licensing, negotiating technology agreements, joint ventures, and intellectual property client counseling, as well as trademark prosecution, trademark screening and clearance searches, monitoring and enforcement, oppositions, litigation, and infringement analysis and opinions.

Mr. Atkins holds a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering with particular technical expertise in electrical and semiconductor arts, electronic circuit design, computer science, software, internet technology, aerospace, electro-​mechanical, control systems, manufacturing, business methods. He is licensed to practice in Arizona, Texas, New York, and Washington State, as well as registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
