Specialties

We are artisans in the traditional craft of hardwood flooring doing installation, repairs and refinishing. Our service includes all of Phoenix Metro as well as Sedona, Flagstaff and Prescott. Owner David Sacco has residences in both the Valley and in Sedona so serving Northern Arizona is a natural part of our business.

With over 30 years of experience and over 6000 past projects, we offer a wealth of hardwood experience. Our referrals are often for repair work as we have proprietary techniques for matching existing wood floors. Note, we are not and never have been a conventional store. We work on an appointment basis bring samples and advise to you in your home.

We have our own millwork shop and make custom baseboards to match existing, or even your own special dream design. The shop also helps in duplicating discontinued prefinished floors when a customer needs a repair.

As hardwood flooring is just a very specialized for of finish carpentry, many customers have us do other woodworking projects including fireplace mantles, cabinet and furniture repair, or even duplication of existing cabinet or shelving units.

Because or our expertise in floor finishing, we also find ourselves refinishing exterior doors that are suffering the impact of Arizona weather.

We are dealer for nearly every major brand of Hardwood flooring, so give us a call to quote your new flooring or refinishing project.

History

Established in 1980.

David Sacco has been in the flooring business since 1980. With a background in custom builder finish carpentry, and an education in Construction Engineering, he learned the hardwood trade from employees unable to resist going out on the hardwood jobs after purchasing an existing flooring business.

There was a year in the early 90’s when he still had an operation selling all types of flooring in San Diego after starting A Touch of Class Hardwood doing only wood floors in Phoenix. After a year of back and forth twice a week, it got to be too much. The deciding factor of which way to go was that he found the customers in Arizona much more pleasant. There’s a certain tension to dealing with that high cost of living in San Diego and Phoenix people seemed much more relaxed.

We are a different kind of operation, low overhead to save both you and us money. Long on tools and experience. Fiercely committed to doing things the right way, and endlessly creative in offering woodworking solutions.

Meet the Business Owner

David S.

Business Owner

I’ve been self-employed my entire career, with most of it in the construction industry. My education includes a B.S. in Industrial Administration with an emphasis in marketing. I latter completed three more years of study in Construction Engineering, all at Iowa State University.

Raised in Illinois and educated in Iowa, I’m a Midwestern guy through and through. In 1980 my wife and I grew restless and moved to San Diego which is where I entered the flooring business.

I’m in my 60’s and spend as much time in Sedona as I do in Phoenix. I will meet with you and plan your project, but probably won’t work on it myself unless it present a highly unusual woodworking or color matching challenge. I spend a few days a month working with my guys because I enjoy it, but they are probably better than me at this point. Two of my guys will be taking over the business when I retire in September 2017. Shane has been with me for 16 years, and Gabriel for 10 years. Simply expert craftsmen.
