Granted, I showed up late and without a reservation, but there was plenty of room in the parking lot so it seemed likely there would be more than a couple of rooms left. I checked in, walked down to my room, and let myself in. While there was nobody there, it was apparent that someone was still checked in. There was a suitcase of some kind, the bed was unmade and the room pretty filthy. Went back to the front desk, told the clerk, he apologized and assigned me to another room. This was an improvement. No one living there. On the other hand, it hadn’t been cleaned from the last occupant. Bed unmade, towels and trash on the floors, etc. Back to the front desk. Apologetic clerk. Offered to reduce my rate for the night and said he would go down and check out the next room himself before sending me down. He comes back and gives it a clean bill of health. I go down, and yes, it’s better looking. Until I look in the bathroom. There’s no toilet seat! It’s broken off and thrown under the sink. Back to the front desk. «Listen, I’m usually not a complainer…» More apologies. An even bigger discount on a room. It’s really late and I don’t feel like trying to find another motel. Off he goes to check another room. He comes back. This room is fine, he says. It’s clean, has a toilet seat. The only thing is, there’s a stain on the bedspread at the foot of the bed, but no big deal. I go down to the room, and it passes my quick inspection. I turn up the heat on this chilly night and settle in to watch some TV. Twenty minutes later, I realize the room is no warmer. I check the heating unit and it’s blowing cold air. That’s it, I’m done! Based on this experience and the clerk’s reaction when I told him I was leaving, I have the sense that my experience was not particularly unusual. This place is a hell hole. Don’t stay here! One star only because zero stars is not an option.

We are writing a travel book. We stayed only one night here. It was clean enough, but was advertised as a non-​smoking hotel, and the cigarette smell was heavy in the room. We would not visit here again.

My Mom and I stayed here for 2 nights. If I could rate this as a negative 5 star I would. I prepaid for 2 nights and was unable to get a refund, otherwise I would of stayed somewhere else. They were going through a major remodeling and I am surprised they were able to stay open as there is no way a handicapped person in a wheel chair could navigate the crowded hallways. We paid for two beds but opted for the only handicapped accessible room since the first room stunk like cigarettes and had burn marks in the carpet. Our room had been updated with a new bed only and since we only had to be in the room for sleeping we managed. The towels were grungy and the toilet barely flushed. On the 2^nd day it looked like a dump as they had all mattresses, furniture and boxes piled just outside one of the entrance doors. We even had bare wires above our bed as no fixture had been installed. The reviews on their website did not adequately represent this shit hole! I will be trying to file a complaint.

Great stay, staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a large selection and was very good.

Considering it was Mother’s Day Weekend at U of I, I expected to pay a little more for my room and actually had to book nearly a year in advance. Like anything else, you should get what you pay for, but in this case, I don’t feel like I got what I paid for. At nearly double the normal rate, (currently $ 69/​night & I paid $ 129/​night) the two Queen size smoking room was clean enough but a terrible shower drip was disturbing throughout my time there. Knowing there were no more rooms available, I didn’t bother to tell the staff about it. Also, coming off the second floor elevator, the stench of cigarettes smacks you in the face. I knew it was a smoking floor and I’m a smoker, but found it bad enough to go out and buy some plug-​in air fresheners for my room. Maybe a little carpet fresh for the hallways?
On the good side, plenty of parking in the lot, free Wi-​Fi and the staff was really, really nice. Both beds were super comfy and had lots of pillows and towels. I slept really great both nights. I missed the breakfast both mornings since I left slept in, so can’t comment about it. Nice and quiet stay, except for that shower drip. I did mention it to the desk as I was leaving, so hopefully they take care of it. Besides a little air freshening, it would be worth the $ 69/​night. I’m sure they are not the only ones that jack up the prices on Mother’s Day Weekend at U of I, but at almost $ 289 (including tax) for two nights, I thought it fell short for that price.

Overall not bad for price paid. The pool and hot tub were disgusting and cold, so if you are hoping to spend time there I might consider another hotel. HOWEVER, my room was clean, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and they put out a top notch continental breakfast.

If you like sharing your bed with multi-​legged critters then this is the place for you! Bed bugs, a pool & spa filled with stagnant water and microwaved eggs for breakfast, what more dould you ask for in a cheap hotel? And don’t forget rude staff, that was the cherry on top! Sleep in your car, you’ll have a better experience.

my kids call it «low-​quality inn». That’s coming from a 9 yr old, and we all agreed. Sheets slip off the bed in the middle of the night, mattress was lousy, breakfast — coffee was empty, waffle batter was empty, cream was empty. I told the front desk guy and he eventually filled up on all, but he seemed to be the only guy working in the hotel, and he just didn’t have the time to do everything. Also, garbage was overflowing in the breakfast area. Back to the room.. . tv was old — not a flat screen. Only one bar soap for sink and shower, towels were flimsy and small and scratchy. Room was hot. Is that enough comments? We were more than ready to leave in the morning, but unfortunately this was the only hotel I could find that had a room available since it was a football weekend.

Dirty room, rude staff, overpriced. $ 20 was added to the price I was quoted, and I was given the runaround about it for 45 minutes. Stay away. Sleep in the park; it’s cleaner.

For as many hotels that are in Champaign it was difficult for us to find a room on a Friday night. Granted there was the Science Olympiad State Finals going on it proved to be a costly experience. Apparently the word is out — over charge people for the weekends.
The hotel is average. Dated but in good shape. The beds were decent. The ‘living room’ consisted of a sofa and table were old and not great. The bathroom was updated. I think the towels were new… that’s good.
The hotel has a pool and free wifi.
We paid $ 150 (with tax) for 1 night. We checked around and most places were booked solid. Was it a $ 150 per night hotel room — definitely not but like I said, we didn’t have much of a choice.
3 stars for the hotel; minus 1 star for the gouging.

This hits the hotel trifecta: cheap, spacious and clean.
Cheap: a king suite clocks in at about $ 65 /​night. Spacious: the king suite has king bed, a full-​size couch, a desk, and a mini-​fridge/​microwave plus enough space to walk. Clean: there were no odd stains on the furniture (ick) and housekeeping did an excellent job cleaning and restocking. Plus throw in some amenities: free internet, a pool and hot tub, and a decent continental breakfast in the morning.
This is a nice discount motel, and I’m giving it five stars for the quality to price ratio. Be aware that it’s not particularly «luxurious»: the carpets share that tragic design with all the other cheap hotels you’ve been to, and the view is of a used car lot. But it is, as advertised, very comfortable.
