We pride ourselves as a ‘CLEAN LABEL’ artisan bakery. All of our bakery items are baked fresh daily using the finest ingredients available. We use organic flour and REAL BUTTER, and never any preservatives!
We are known for our crusty artisan breads, flaky butter croissants, beautiful layer cakes, ”best in town” cookies, delicious scones, muffins, sweet breads, and other amazing confections!
History
Established in 2005.
Ruzica Cuk (Seka to her friends) moved to Illinois in 1993 from Serbia with her husband Dragan and young daughter Mila. With her first taste of American bread, she knew that she wanted to open a bakery that offered traditional European breads made from scratch with no preservatives or artificial additives. She opened our first location in Downtown Champaign in 2005. Pekara Bakehouse opened in 2008 to serve our wholesale customers and our two locations on the University of Illinois campus opened in 2011. We are so grateful to all of our wonderful customers and friends and we look forward to continuing to serve Central Illinois the very best breads and desserts!
