BJ’S Exotic Pets and Feed

I haven’t logged into Unilocal in years, but I had to after visiting BJ’s. The smell hit me ten feet from the door. There were very few animals inside and the place was filthy. The person at the front never even looked up to acknowledge us. I wandered around for a few minutes and was… Horrified. Those poor animals. There were several dead fish floating on the top of the water in their tanks, and one was being eaten by his fellow tankmate in another. Several of the tanks were growing large amounts of mildew. In about half of the tanks the water was yellow or clouded. The birds had no toys and only one or two perches that i recall.
What a heartbreaking experience that visit was. :’(

I walked in here with my little brother one Saturday afternoon, and it was a lot more exciting than what I expected it to be. Although I figured the place would seem more homely like your regular pet store (Petco, etc), I did find it quite dirty as I remember seeing a white mouse hop out of one of the feeds on the side. But the atmosphere is not why I’m here to talk about. Overall the staff seemed very friendly and didn’t mind that we just wanted to have a look around (since it was our first time at an exotic pet store). When we went there, there weren’t a lot of animals in stock but my brother and I were happy to see the various numbers of exotic fish, birds, bunnies, snakes/​reptiles such as lizards and turtles too, ferrets, hedgehogs, and groundhogs. They also had a small blue pitbull puppy on display, I wasn’t quite sure if it was on sale-​but their mother and father was around and they were quite friendly as well.
If you’re too lazy to go to the zoo, or can’t find the money or time to-​come by here and take a good look around. It’s like a free pass, except you have the option of buying the animals.

You should come here. I don’t care if you need pets or pet supplies, or not. You should just come here.
On rainy afternoons, I’ll bring my kids here just to buy the dog a treat if I don’t really need anything. Why? Well, for example, last time we went, we got to pet a kinkajou for as long as the thing would let us. And laugh hysterically at the cartoonishness that is a gigantically pregnant prairie dog. And touch several, that’s right, SEVERAL very big tortoises. Like, rideably big. And that was just our last visit.
They have the most interesting exotic pets for sale here, always. And it seems to be ever changing. Once, they had many baby chameleons. Another time, tons of prairie dogs. (Based on my last trip, I imagine we’ll have a repeat of that sometime soon). They also sell baby chickens and ducks, fish, wrens, parakeets, etc. And they sell supplies for so many pets — this is my go-​to place for guinea pig supplies in da parish. So if you’re out this way and want a chance to see some cool critters, check this place out.
