This EB Games has been part of the Cerritos mall for a long time. It was even the site of one of my only job applications when I was in high school. I recalled I didn’t get a job here and the only open position went to one of my high school buddies, Dave, that same summer vacation many years ago.
I remember I came by often that same summer and gave Dave and that interviewer shit (in a funny way) each time I dropped by.
But that does not mean I still hold anything against the place today. The employee turnover is relatively high and no one from the time I actually applied is still here. I still make the ritualistic visit whenever I’m at the Los Cerritos Center, which is very often.
The gaming selection here is about the same as most other places, however, this store location is very narrow and many bottlenecks tend to occur during peak hours. Given the space, the staff does a good job of keeping things against the walls to maximize whatever little floorspace they have.
It would be nice if this EB can relocate to another, larger place in the mall. The crowds would be mitigated and the more people would actually be encouraged to come in and browse or shop.
One thing I wish this location would also do is have more demos out on the floor. Very often, my visits would be with broken or malfunctional demos and consoles. The equipment needs to be in tip-​top shape if causal buyers are to actually bust out their wallets and make purchases.
Though I honestly haven’t bought a video game in a long time, I have every intention to get back into it like when I was younger. Gaming technology is only getting more and more impressive and geared towards the original fanatics (who are about my age now). When I decide to buy a new console or an actual video game, I will be sure to keep my money in Cerritos and patronize places like EB on a more regular basis.
