R Diner

If you’re looking for delicious, high-​quality, affordable, and traditional diner food, R Diner is for you! Prices are very reasonable and the portions are impressive, but not over the top. The staff is very friendly and the service is always fast. R Diner is always immaculately clean, too.
One of my favorites is the fish fry on Fridays – huge haddock, very lightly breaded, with two huge sides. They make their macaroni salad and cole slaw exactly like my mother did. They don’t come out of a tub from a food distributor; they’re made fresh on site every day.
There are lots of breakfast offerings and I’ve loved everything I’ve tried so far. My favorite is the sausage gravy and biscuits, which are exactly like what I used to have at Jim’s in San Antonio, TX, years ago. It’s surprisingly light, not a bit greasy or salty, and while they have a half order available, I can easily scarf down the standard size and not feel overfilled. The biscuits are light and fluffy, too.
The waitresses are always fun to joke around with, too. You may have to wait a few minutes for a table at the height of breakfast or on Fridays for dinner, but it’s rarely longer than that.
R Diner is now my favorite diner in Central New York.
