History

Established in 1975.

The Center Line location was the beginning of Autometric Collision. Larry Smith started his first shop here in an empty gas station on September 1, 1975, when he was 23 years old. The Center Line location largely serves residents of Warren, Sterling Heights, Roseville, Hazel Park and Detroit. For over 30 years this shop has worked closely with seven different divisions of General Motors repairing damaged company owned vehicles as well as pre-production prototypes, test cars and other projects that are protected by secrecy agreements. The great work done in Center Line became the template for our other Autometric Collision shops. One of Larry Smith’s first employees was Bryan McCready, who started in April 1976 as a painter in the Center Line shop. Bryan is still on location as Center Line’s manager, along with his duties as Autometric Collision Vice President overseeing all of the Macomb County locations. He is assisted by Luke Witzak and the office is managed by Angela Saier.
