We were visiting family in the area and needed a quick dinner. Family suggested this place, though they hadn’t ever been themselves. They usually eat at home or go to seafood restaurants in the area. We entered what we thought to be the main entrance on the second floor, up a flight of outdoor steps. It was hot inside, but it was also summer. It was quite stuffy and had we known there was seating downstairs, we would have asked to eat our food down there. The kitchen was upstairs, so that added to the heat as well. We were the only people upstairs and it took what seemed like quite a long time to get our food considering 3 of us got the same thing. Maybe there were more people than we knew of in the bar area downstairs. We ordered cheesesteaks and fried clams. All the food was good, but nothing special and the meat on the sandwiches could have used some seasoning. If we return to the area, we wouldn’t try this again. There was more choice in food in Alton Bay, where the more touristy areas are.

We were driving back from Wolfeboro on Sunday morning and stopped here for breakfast because we hadn’t seen any restaurants on Route 28 in miles. The service and food were incredibly slow, considering there were only two other tables in the restaurant. When we got our food, it was pretty mediocre. It was clear why the food had taken so long, the homefries were burnt to a crisp and my husband’s steak and eggs were overcooked and unseasoned. I know it’s the only place for miles, but can’t they make more of an effort? Even the vinyl tablecloths were sticky! Our diner breakfast stop took over an hour! If only we had known if we drove for ten more minutes, we would hit several restaurants.

It’s the only place in town!!! The two or three gas stations are also great.
