Advanced Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

I had a tooth extraction here last summer and had a good enough experience enough to plan my dental implant 4 – 6 months later. Unfortunately, during that time, Dr. Weideman moved to another practice (Miner Oral Surgery), and the people at AOMS handled the transition very poorly and unprofessionally.
They simply called me up, told me my surgery was cancelled, and were a bit hostile when I was confused and asked more questions. They wouldn’t tell me how to contact Dr. Weideman. They also didn’t seem to particularly want me to reschedule my implant with another Dr. at AOMS. I ended up being contacted by Dr. Weideman’s new office later and followed him to his new practice, partially due to how AOMS handled the move.
I understand that there might be some hard feelings when someone leaves your practice, but it is really unprofessional and inexcusable to pass that onto the patient. It is not the patient’s fault that your practice is undergoing change. You are causing harm to your patient by refusing to help them and just cancelling their procedures/​appointments.
Overall, I had a good experience with their office until Dr. Weideman moved. Then I was surprised by the unprofessional and patient un-​friendly attitude.

I will begin by explaining that my fear of dentists and dental work runs extremely deep. I preface all my dental appointments with this information and have been known to avoid the dentist chair at all costs, up until pain is involved. This practice is what landed me in Dr. Weideman’s office in the first place, with an abcessed molar.
I had to cancel my first appt. due to car trouble and his office accommodated my schedule and allowed me to come in the following day; even then, I got stuck in traffic and was over a ½ hr late for my appt. When I finally did arrive, everyone was extremely pleasant and did not make me feel that I had put them out in any way. Dr. Weideman was the true pleasure in my experience; he comforted me by telling me exactly why the extraction needed to be done and walked me through the procedure in it’s entirety. I opted to use nitrous during the procedure and he allowed me to sit for what seemed like an eternity, but in reality was only 10 minutes, in order to allow the nitrous and numbing medicine to take effect. Even after he started working in my mouth, he made sure that I was comfortable and put up with my moaning and groaning during the procedure.
The last extraction I had done (not with Dr. Weideman) cost me over $ 3K and I opted for IV sedation due to my fear. Dr. Weideman only charged ¹⁄₆ of that price and I didn’t lose but an hour of my day to the dentist chair; in addition, the most I felt during the extraction was pressure – thank God!
Most importantly though, Dr. Weideman acts like a human being, versus the pretenciousness I have found in other dentists/​doctors and he will treat you as such, no matter the reasoning for being in his office! I have forever been on the search for the perfect dentist… and, I found one in Dr. Weideman. I would reccomend him to anyone in need of a gentle and down to earth person and dentist; he made me momentarily forget I was in pain!

I will start by saying Dr. Weideman was very professional and did a great job extracting my wisdom tooth. My low rating is for the office staff. I called ahead to ask what it would cost before I booked so I could save the money. They asked what insurance I had and gave me a quote. They NEVER told me that if I came into the office for an evaluation ahead of time insurance would cover it, and if I did the evaluation the same day as the extraction the evaluation would not be covered by insurance. When I went in the for the extraction they gave me the same quote again and said they had talked to my insurance so I didn’t need to call them to verify. Now a month later I get a bill for 3 times the amount. I called to ask about it and she told me it’s because you didn’t come in for the evaluation on a separate day and that she was sure I was told that. How can she be sure when she wasn’t even on the phone and I absolutely was never told that. So then she changed her tune to — well you signed the office paperwork that says it’s just a quote! So they choose to mislead patients, give false information up front and then hide behind their fine print. Don’t you think it’s just better to tell patients the full facts up front. I don’t recommend this place based on these practices, but if you do use them, make sure you double check EVERYTHING they tell you. Also try to avoid the Aurora office — that is where this all happened and the receptionist was very rude during my check in. When I’d ask questions she acted like I was bothering her. Isn’t that what she is there for as the person that checks patients in!!!

A+ experience! After calling my dentist early Monday morning due to some pain in my mouth, they told me it was due to one of my decaying teeth that I would have to get extracted. Enter in Advanced Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. My dentist office got me an appointment same day in the afternoon to get the tooth extracted and all in all it was a wonderful visit… besides getting a tooth pulled. Dr. Michalik did theextraction and he was super nice and sensitive to my needs with numbing and pain and really, numbing the area was the worst part of the procedure. Two minutes after he got started and after some pressure and rocking my head back and forth the tooth was out and I was on my way home! I can’t remember the assistants name who was there (she looked like Janice Dickinson before she jacked her face up), she was great as well and gave me clear and concise instructions on how to care for the extraction point. Dr. Michalik even called me later that day to make sure I was doing alright and when a place offers a personal touch like that, it really says a lot.

Dr Weideman is the best! I had been told getting my wisdom teeth out would be the worst experience, but it was quite the opposite. They all made me feel comfortable, and the surgery went so well, I was fully up and around the day after surgery. I highly recommend them!
