Skydive The Farm

I went skydiving in early October and it was the most terrifying, but coolest experience ever. Ryan was my tandem guy and he was totally professional. He didn’t sugar coat anything, and made sure safety was #1. I wore special goggles over my glasses so I could see and they started to fly off my face after we jumped. He held them onto my face so I wouldn’t lose them. I thought that was pretty awesome. Definitely going again!

Facing «quarter life crisis» at senior year of college, I decided to round up some crazy friends to go skydiving with me. After much research, we decided on Skydive The Farm at $ 169 per person for Tandem Skydiving (weekday prices; group discounts available). None of us have skydived before, so this was truly an experience of the lifetime. The whole booking process was pretty easy, and the staff at Skydive The Farm was quite helpful in answering any questions we had about the whole experience.
My group of 5 friends arrived on Friday afternoon and went through all the instructions and safety waivers. After about an hour or so with the paperwork and setting up, we were finally ready to board the plane. Each of our instructor were very kind, funny, and reassuring. They joked here and there but made sure we felt comfortable and safe. I was so excited that I was the only one to make the choice to pay $ 119 to have still photos and videos on a flash drive. Yes it’s a bit pricey, but to this day I think it was well worth it.
When we finally got up to an altitude about 12,000−14,000ft (honestly can’t recall because we were pretty nervous), we finally made the jump. The moment of standing near the hatch to jumping out was a mix of excitement, fear, and honestly can not describe in words the feeling. Freefalling around 120mph or so, I began to realize freefalling actually took longer than I imagined once I calmed down a bit to take in the surrounding (at least a minute of free fall). After the parachute deployed, I was up for around 5 — 10 minutes. The view was amazing, and the feeling was exhilarating.
All of my group landed safely, and everyone had a better experience than they had ever imagined. We had a chance to laugh each other after reviewing individual tapes of the experience by each instructors. Skydive The Farm had all the right qualities in price, staff, and experience itself. This place would have definitely been a ⁵⁄₅ for me had it not been the video processing guy after the skydiving. This guy had a pretty messed up leg from a skydiving accident and persisted in showing me the video of the accident despite my several remarks of not wanting to see it. Needles to say, the video was pretty gross. I could not understand why this guy was showing me the footage and potentially scare away a repeat customer.
Overall, Skydive The Farms get a ⁴⁄₅ only due to the minor unpleasant experience I had with the video processing guy at the end.

I jumped with Frank and was videoed by Ray (I think?!) and overall had a great time.
Pros:
Both professionals were to-​the-​point with their instruction but happily answered all the questions I had. Frank made sure I knew exactly what to do when we were ready to jump, jumping, landing etc. I definitely trusted the guy and more so when he kept checking on me, sometimes seriously, sometimes jokingly. The staff kept cracking jokes to take the edge off things. Their sense of humor is dry and this can be unnerving when you’re skydiving, but we know they do this tens of times a day and the risk factor is really low, so we just enjoyed it.
After the parachute deployed, Frank pointed out the Alabama mountains, other skydivers, and was able to take me through a cloud, as requested! It was great to just take in the views and enjoy being up there.
We arrived at 2.30pm and got harnessed around 3.30pm. We waited until 4pm to get on the plane and then until about 5pm to get our videos. This was quite a bit of time, but I have heard places take between 4 – 6 hours, so this was quick in comparison!
We watched the video and photos of our jumps before leaving the place, which was good, because one of our photo CD’s was with another jumper, but we got that sorted by checking everything before we left. The photos are really high quality and stunning. I loved the view Ray got by lying on his back beneath us as we were falling. He got a few shots of the ground too, but I was not in those frames. There is not much to see in rural GA though, so that was not the important factor.
Cons:
We did have to fill out our waivers twice (once online, and once at the place), but I didn’t mind since there was a bit of a wait anyway as folks who had arrived previous to us were just getting harnessed. Good thing we bought snacks and water. There is not much to do except hang out on the deck and watch the others land or get more nervous sitting around. A fussball table or ping pong table would have been neat, but I am not sure they have the space for it.
I do understand some of the negative reviews, but I think I asked enough questions to make sure I was comfortable with the procedure (and was happily answered) and was just too psyched to go JUMP OUT OF A PLANE to really care for anything else.
Overall, I would totally go back. The experience was great, the drive from metro Atlanta was not bad, and the staff were laid-​back and cool, yet professional and got the job done smoothly.

This is my 3^rd time skydiving, but the first time to this location. I was being my mom for her first skydive. This has been the worst experience of them all. My mom and I almost lost out on getting a videographer when the person on the phone told me that I didn’t need to schedule one… just come on my scheduled jump day. I’m glad I called with a few questions the day before my jump. The original skydive got canceled due to the weather. My mom and I went the next day. When we got there, I was a little shocked on how unprepared and unprofessional they were. We had taken time out of our day, to e-​sign the waiver prior to the jump day. Low and behold, they didn’t get that waiver. We had to fill it all out again. After a few hours, my mom starts to get harnessed and the videographer starts her interview. Mine was nowhere to be found. The young ladies with attitudes at the window did not care to help. I was eventually rudely greeted by my instructor, Frank. He seemed quick, short and in a real big hurry. He did not care to build any type of relationship with you. He left me, as well as the other people that were going to jump with, asking many questions. But he was off, so we had to just wait, frazzled and puzzled. As it was finally our turn, we went up to wait for the airplane. I then told other people around me about my missing videographer. Someone came up to do a quick interview. Then we were off in the plane. As we jumped, the videographer jumped before us and was right below me, on his back free falling. After free falling, I had to try and make co conversation with my instructor while gliding. Usually, they talk to me, ask me how I am. crack a few jokes. Nothing. I had to ask him to point out landmarks. He only told me one. We eventually, landed. and landed semi rough! I felt that was a very lazy «I don’t care how we land» kind of landing. It was rough and I scooted harshly on the ground. I was all tied up in the cords. The videographer came over to do my landing interview. After I got up, Frank made me help with the parachute and carry it inside. I saw no one else doing that. I wasn’t there to be out to work. I had no time to actually come off from my skydive and enjoy the rush! I was quick to whisk away the parachute off of the ground and bring it inside for the next person. After waiting a while for my video and pictures, they suggested I play it in the media room DVD player to make sure it’s there. I was very disappointed and angry when I saw the footage! Hardly no interview in the plane, and ZERO footage of anything below me while skydiving. Since he was below me, all you could see was the blue sky. Nothing else! Pictures were just the same and bad Quality. I also noticed that my landing interview was cut out entirely! I asked the girl with the attitude at the front and she said «there was no audio. So he cut it off.» I seemed like an inconvenience to her for asking any sort of question. I was not offered a refund or discount. I don’t think that is acceptable!!! You are paying a lot of money for this, everything should be good as gold! To top it off, my mom’s experience wasn’t any better and she bruised her tail bone while landing. She has been in pain for over a week. This is not ok!!! We make sure to let others know of this disappointing experience. Never again! Go somewhere else! I will try ATLANTA SKYDIVE next time.

Purchased a skydive in the hopes of actually BEING ABLE TO skydive. I drove an hour and a half to get there, only to arrive and having them tell me I had to reschedule because of the weather. No big deal. So I come back again, and what do you know, weather troubles. So this time I decided to wait a little while before rescheduling. Unfortunately I had to move to the west coast, since I’m in the military, I’m being transferred to a completely different state. And there was no possible way I could go and complete my skydive. Regardless of my orders, I CANNOT get a refund. And you know what they told me, «try and sell it on eBay»… Ridiculous.

The person my husband jumped tandem with and the videographer were great. While you wait to go, there is limited seating. There is no seating outside in the shade that doesn’t involve heavy exposure to second hand smoke from the staff. The video of the experience which should take 20 – 30 minutes after landing, took an hour and a half. One of the staff approached me and asked if I had any pain pills.
Skydiving itself was great, just the rest of it was the pits. Won’t be back.

what an amazing experience. words cannot describe the adrenaline, excitement, and intensity of this. first time jumper. Frank Day was a fantastic guy to jump with. smooth ride down and got me to the ground safe and sound. Woody took a great video and some amazing photos. makes me want to get certified to potentially jump on my own one day!
i would say if you want to do this, or you are on the fence. GO DO IT!!!

Horrible first experience. Could’ve enjoyed if I actually trusted the person I was paired with. They have no regard to how you feel, they expect just to trust them. While no training was really given. Literally put in a harness and then I’m in a plane. The instructor then told me again before falling out. All My friends that Skydived mentioned how strange it was to not have any training or education of the skydiving process. What if something happened to the instructor? What? Am I supposed to fall to my death without any education how to save myself? How to release the parachute or fly it? That is why I was so scared, then to have the video Grapher mock me. Rushing me up just so he can go home.
Finally after all that, I waited for my deluxe package discs. Video and photos. I was told to test the video disc and it was fine. But got home and the photo disc was empty. After, calling and emailing, so many times… it’s only rational to deduct they’re dodging my attempts. Fact is they don’t have any of my photos, won’t give a refund. $ 349 for a crap deluxe package. My friend also went with me, he will never go there again.
If you want a great first experience, avoid this place.

This place is great! If you have this on your bucket list than you need to go here. I did A tandem jump with Mike and it was a blast! Best adrenaline rush I have had in a while these guys are very professional about jumping. I would highly recommend getting the video package. I thought it would be a mediocre video and I was way wrong. I got 100 still photos and a badass video lasting about 3 and ½ minutes with interviews before, during the fly up and after the jump. If you are worried about experience this place has it. Just my jumper alone had over 3500 jumps. They give military discounts and also have a «GO BIG» for $ 15 dollars more and it gives you an additional 5 thousand feet to the jump. This place rocks and I will be back soon!!! Big shout out to all the people that makes this place what it is and making it such a great experience!

My husband and I went skydiving for the first time (tandem with instructors) here last week. We found this place through a living social deal and bought the coupons last year after reading all the good reviews. We first tried to redeem the coupons a few weeks ago, but after going through the safety videos and paper work that day, we ended up not jumping due to weather (high winds) concerns. I love that the facility makes safety a priority, that makes me feel infinitely better about jumping out of a plane. The instructors here all seem to be very friendly, and they act like a family which helps put all of the students at ease for the jump.
When you first arrive, there is paperwork to fill out and a short safety video (mostly legal mumbo-​jumbo without a lot of direction). After that you get checked in (your forms and ID are checked) and you wait to be assigned an instructor (and videographer if you’ve elected for the package). After a short wait (we went on a weekday, and it was a very short wait), we were called up and met our instructors and got fitted for our harnesses. We were offered jumpsuits too but opted out because it wasn’t too cold out (but keep in mind it is colder at higher altitudes).
The plane ride up was loud but steady, and then each tandem pair (and the videographers) take their turns out the plane. The free fall was awesome, and once the chute was open I really had time to look around and enjoy the view. I will say the part where we had to spiral and turn a bit to get to the landing spot left me a bit nauseous, but overall the experience was amazing.
Great instructors, friendly, helpful staff, awesome experience!

Terrible customer service, why trust them with a jump?
My husband and I bought passes to skydive and the first day the weather didn’t cooperate, which happens. The second time the plane was out of order and the place was closed when we arrived despite having made reservations less than 24 hours earlier. When we called to find out what happened the employee said they called one of us and left a message, which we didn’t get, and they didn’t bother emailing.
Then we moved to Texas for work and called to ask for a refund since we tried to use the passes but it didn’t work and we wouldn’t be in state anymore. They have a strong no-​refund policy and told us a manager would call us back and was out of the office. We never got a call back, and mysteriously whenever we called we were told a manager would call us back and was not in the office.
I think they gave us the run-​around on purpose knowing credit card companies typically have limited time frames for making claims, and we ended up not being able to use the card for a refund. We worked with the Better Business Bureau to put in a refund request, but they never answered them and now have a low rating on BBB’s website.
We feel so disrespected and that the customer service was at best very disorganized and lazy and at wost outright deceitful that I wouldn’t trust a jump with this company, and would strongly recommend against it. It was an expensive way to learn this company is not safe and does not care about its customers.

Mixed feelings on this place. Your experience really depends on who you get for instructor and videographer.
Six of us went to celebrate some birthdays. While I knew there was a video to watch, I expected that it would include instructions for the jump. Nope. Just different ways to upgrade your package and sign your waiver thoroughly.
The wait was to be expected and not terrible bad for us. We had a 10:00 time on a Saturday, and we were all said and done by 1:00.
I’m pretty confident that our high altitude upgrade was as long as promised. My husband had to most negatives. His instructor give him almost no direction and his videographer was way too close to get any decent photos. Our friends had much, much better pics.
I experience motion sickness and had some concerns. Surprisingly, the plane ride was okay, despite going up facing backwards. The free fall was the best part for me. But gliding down with the open chute was dizzying.
We’re all glad we did it. Not sure if we’d go again.

THE SCENE
My first cousin whom I just met for the 1^st time ever last year was in town. We are the EXACT same age and yet we never knew of each other because of old family squabbles that kept us apart. The best discovery of all is we are nearly identical in personality, so we hit it off instantly. He’s lived life surrounded by family who are not very adventurous; content only to stay at home and not travel. So meeting me has brought out his wild side. He has a list of things he wants to do in the future, but none more of a priority than skydiving. I was so proud to share in this life moment with him.
THE EXPERIENCE
Shockingly I didn’t have any butterflies. Instead I was totally stoked and ready to go! When you first arrive, you must take a few moments to fill out paperwork assuring them if you die no one in your family will sue them or any of the companies associated with the dive (such as the manufacturer of the parachute). What a comforting feeling!
You then proceed to watch a video that further assures you perfect people or perfect conditions don’t exist and you very well could die today (not kidding). Armed with this AWESOME knowledge, you are then asked if you care to go even higher than the standard 10,000 feet. Other than the three available video packages, it’s the only add-​on cost offered above and beyond your prepaid jump fee.
We decided to go with it since it was just $ 15 and doubled your free-​fall time. You then get weighed and soon after assigned to a jump instructor. Being weighed is important in matching you up to an instructor since the parachutes have weight limits and so does the plane.
NOTE: The weight limit to jump is 250 lbs. Also if you weigh over 230 lbs, you will have to pay an additional $ 20… kinda like an oversized luggage fee. I was just tipping the oversized luggage scale.
They send you up in «loads» and we were assigned the 3^rd load of the day. We arrived around 11am on a Friday and were walking to the plane by 12:45pm. It was awesome to witness the previous two jumps as they descended from the sky, but I was eager to experience it for myself!
THE JUMP
Today was arguably thee perfect day to jump. There was barely a cloud in the sky, the atmosphere was warm and hardly any wind present. The flight was fairly smooth given this was a dual propeller turbine aircraft. I was third out of the plane and I must say it just don’t feel natural. I think I went into immediate sensory overload. I fully expected to scream or feel panicked, but honestly your mind just doesn’t have the time to go there because it’s taking in so much information at one time.
The freefall lasted just under a minute, but really felt like a few seconds. I know this may sound hard to believe, but you really don’t feel like you are falling. Aside from the earth rapidly getting closer and the winds against your face, it feels more like you are floating. Honestly, that pit of your stomach pain that comes from a scary roller coaster is 10 times stronger than falling from a plane… seriously.
That being said, I almost passed out!
Not from fear or thrill, but, as one instructor described it, from sensory overload. Once the rip cord is pulled and the parachute is deployed, your free fall ends and flight begins. My harness was already tighter than I would have liked and got even tighter when the chute yanked us from 120 miles per hour back to 40. The instructor then begins to do a series of twists, turns and dives that made this extremely large baby feel nauseous and sick. The harness felt like it cut off all circulation to my right leg and after a few moments hang time I could feel my body begin to react poorly. So I took deep breaths and prayed I did not pass out. I knew I was being filmed and the last thing I wanted was to hit the ground limp!

So this past Saturday, I experienced my first time skydiving. It was epic and was such a ruch. I jumped with Charlie and he was pretty cool. He made me feel pretty comfortable considering we were extra close during this experience. I went with two other people who equally enjoyed their jump partners as well. When we came, they were redoing the carpet as they had a flood, so it basically stunk which was an unexpected occurence. The wait time did take forever to finally jump, but I’m told that any place that you go it can take a few hours, so pack a few snacks and get ready to wait. Regardless of everything else, the jump was amazing.

My partner and I had our first jump this past Sunday and were completely blown away (literally LOL)
The staff was great, they had A LOT going on. Apparently they were just flooded and putting in new carpets.
We arrived at 9AM and were told our appointment was moved to 11AM due to the carpet situation, they were great about it and very apologetic.
The guide I had, Frank, was AMAZING! A very nice man who completely made me feel comfortable. I was more nervous before I got there and then when I got there my nerves immediately went away.
When we were leaving we noticed they were cooking out for the guest! Who does that!!! Truly an awesome down to Earth team of professionals!
We will go back many many times!

Truly awful. Disorganized dirty. Staff uses foul language. Terrible attitudes. Amazing that they remain in business.

I will probably never go skydiving again, my ears are too sensitive. However!!! that’s not a reflection of this company. Jeff was my instructor and he was sooooooo hilarious. He gave me a run through of what to do and then after that we were off! The experience is so exhilarating. It’s kind of crazy to think these ppl have your life in their hands but they are honestly great ppl to fly with!

Amazing experience! We had to reschedule our previously planned jump due to bad weather, but I’m glad that we did it when we did. The staff calms all of your fears and Romulo is the absolute best instructor ever! He’s hilarious and really makes you feel at ease about jumping out of a freaking plane! He’s pure comedy and Charlie, my videographer, made the experience that much better.

My friend, Priscilla wanted to end her 30^th birthday with a bang. She told me several months ago she wanted to go skydiving and if I wanted to go. I jumped on the chance because I’ve always wanted to do it.
The drive was an hour for me outside of Atlanta. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. My instructor, Charlie was unbelievable!!! He took great care of me and made me feel at ease every step of the process. The jump itself was a rush while free falling for 60 seconds at a 120mph. It was thrilling!!! I would surely do it again!!! If you want an amazing time, ask for Charlie!!!

This place is AWESOME!!! I wish I could give it 6 stars it was so great!
My boyfriend decided what better way to celebrate his birthday than by jumping out of a plane. So by golly, that’s what we did!
His birthday happened to be on Sunday so a group of four of us carpooled out to Cedartown, GA — right next to East Whiplash, AR and Middle of Nowhere, MS at 6 AM. Our jump time was supposed to be almost as soon as Skydive Georgia opened at 7 AM. Like good little troopers we arrived about 10 minutes after 7, and were the second group to turn in our waivers signing away our rights to sue the company or parachute makers should we not survive the dive. Awesome!
After hanging out outside viewing the wide open field all the divers aim to land in for about an hour as more people arrived and signed in, we heard our names called and our tandem instructors named. My instructor was Mike and my videographer was Leslie. (I should note, in skydiving, «If it’s not on camera, it didn’t happen.» And believe me, you’ll want the photos and videos for afterwards — the dive goes by in a snap!).
Mike was amazing! If you can request an instructor to dive with — dive with him! He told me as he was strapping me into my harness that he’d taken his first dive 10 years ago for fun and a month later quit his job, divorced his wife, sold his house and became a full time skydive instructor. How sweet is that?!? What an amazing day job, huh?!
Anyway, my group was in the first load, so we all boarded a tiny plane that held about 20 people total and climbed to 14,000 ft (2.7 miles) above the Earth. Then the door opened… and out went my boyfriend, his instructor and their videographer in the blink of an eye.
Mike, Leslie and I were third out of the plane and I can say without question it was the most adrenaline pumping and FUN thing I’ve done EVER! The entire time we were falling I was grinning, high-​fiving Leslie (who flew close enough to us to get some wicked still photos), swimming and flapping in the air and having Mike above just egging me on. This went on for a couple of minutes at least, but when I think back now, it seems like it lasted only a snap second.
Once we reached a certain altitude, he pulled the chute for the cord and Leslie dove on below us before releasing her own chute. From there we descended upright towards the open field I’d been watching earlier. But the fun wasn’t over yet, Mike let me control the chute with the cords on either side and by pulling down one handle or the other, we swung this way or that or slowed down by pulling them simultaneously. So cool! And the view… oh the view was magnificient — just miles and miles of fields and trees and a few houses and roads as far as the eye could see.
Once we got close to the ground, Mike told me to put my legs out straight in front of me so we could slide to a landing on our butts. Because of my lightness and similarity in him to height, however, we were actually able to land on our feet (unlike everyone else I’m proud to add!), walk right off the field after Leslie asked me how my first dive was and would I do it again? Hell yes I would!
About an hour and a half after we landed, Skydive Georgia had cut, edited and set all of our videos to a soundtrack. We rolled out of there three proud new divers (well, one friend swore he’d never do it again — the look of sheer terror throughout his video brought tears to my eyes I was laughing so hard) before noon that day.
I cannot wait to do that again, and I’m seriously considering taking their course now to earn my wings and be able to jump solo. Skydive Georgia is top notch, and if you’re going to jump, I can’t recommend going there strongly enough.
