Ulta Salon Cosmetics & Fragrance

I was visiting family for the holidays and stopped to shop around and spend some of my Xmas money. Unfortunately the store was completely picked over. It looked liked they had just endured a tornado. Scarce shelves, missing/​misplaced prestige cosmetics and drug store cosmetics, the first employee passed me without a simple greeting. Instead they just shimmied around me while they unpacked boxes. I used to love this store when I lived here, but now it just feels like they are trying to stuff too many things in one store.

Convenient store that has both drugstore and high end products. I’ve been shopping there since it opened in 2007(?). I’m always greeted when I walk in the door and 9x out of 10 an associate will ask if I need help finding anything. Associates are friendly. Took away 1 star because usually there is just 1 cashier — line can get long.

Unilocal needs to make it so that you can rate a place with ZERO stars. This place is a joke, starting with all levels of its management up to corporate. As a former employee of this company they allow their management to bully, harass and discriminate against their employees. Ulta is a beauty store that advertises empowering women… yet they stand behind the complete opposite. Also let me mention they are ALWAYS out of stock of what you need, so before you shop have a second or even third option for whatever it is you went in for. Oh and last make sure you know where those products are located because good luck finding an associate to assist you.

I do like some of the high end items they carry, they don’t carry all the high end products I enjoy the most. But it’s still a nice store with pleasant employees.

Most of The associates there r very unprofessional, rude, and snotty. I have shopped there 4 times. 2 of the experiences were just awful. I walked in there on November 6^th. 4 associates were standing somewhat in the corner talking. I needed help so I approached their huddle and stood there for a minute waiting for them to aknowledge me. They never did so I said «do u guys work here?» One of them nodded her head really quick without taking her eyes off of the girl talking. I said «can one of u help me?» The girl that kept blabbing held her finger up to me to be quiet/​wait one minute. I could not believe that she just did that. Finally a different girl came up to help me. She was awesome/​very helpful. Then when I get up to the register to check out I asked the girl at the counter if she would price check a couple things I had brought up with me becuz there were no prices. She rolled her eyes and acted very annoyed. Like I said this is not the only time I’ve been treated like this there. A lot of The staff there are very very rude/​unfriendly. I just thought u should be aware of how ur business is being ran in Cedar Rapids. I’m sure u don’t want this behavior to continue.

Going out of business? Out of nail polish I wanted. Out of eye liner I use. Picked over hair accessories. Wal-​Mart has a better selection. Out of stock on foundation color. Out of hair care product in ad 3 days after ad launch. Not sure who buys here?

I feel like I don’t belong when I walk in the door. The associates are rude and not friendly. They looked at me but continued their conversation without stopping to say hi or ask if I needed anything. I bothered them when I paid for my shampoo because they had to stop talking to each other. If I could get my shampoo any where else I would never go back into this place!

They have everything! Ulta is the ultimate beauty supplies and fragrance shop. Honestly, there has never been a time where I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for here. They usually have a coupon in the weekly paper, offer lots of buy one get one free or ½ off deals, and many of their distributors offer their own special deals. An example of this: I bought a LORAC eye-​shadow and got a free LORAC (full-​sized, not sample sized!) mascara.
I tried some of the Ulta brand nail polishes and have to say I think they are sub-​par in quality. They have lots of color options, but the finish looks cheap. I have not been to the salon at this Ulta location, but have been pleased with services at another location in the past. The staff is there if you need them and they never bombard you… a definite plus.

I went to Ulta for the first time this weekend. I was impressed! :) The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and not pushy. I even got a handful of free gifts that came with what I purchased! I will definitely go back!
