For families who want to document their evolution, Jenness Asby is a portrait photographer that captures each milestone showcasing their unique smiles, quirks, and expressions. Jenness specializes in birth and newborn photography, and enjoys capturing many other different subjects; fine art, nature, pets, events, families, maternity, birth experience, newborns, babies, kids, seniors, engagements, and weddings.

Unlike other photographers in this space, her key differentiator is a diverse package offering, from the short mini session including a few digital images and sensible print prices to a half day session including a disc of all images in both low resolution for sharing on the web and high resolution for printing, and including a signed print release.

History

Established in 2014.

Jenness discovered her love of photography while earning her AA from Kirkwood in Graphic Communications in 2005. She investigated her passion, diligently practiced, and gradually acquired way more photography equipment than a hobbyist should. It became apparent that her fancy shmancy camera was going to have to find a way to earn its keep. It started doing just that when she did her first paid shoot in 2010. After earning enough a few years in a row to force her to declare it in her yearly taxes and trade in Turbo Tax for a real, fancy shmancy accountant, Jenness made it super duper legal by setting up her LLC in 2014. The Green Cheetah photo & design was born in May 2014.

Jenness was born and raised in Coldwater MI and came to Cedar Rapids IA in 1994. She met the man of her dreams, married him in 1995, and popped out a couple sons in 1996 and 1999. After her family, photography is her main passion, and not a day goes by that she doesn’t shoot, think about shooting, or learn something new.

Jenness enjoys spending time with her family, photography (duh), spending too much time on social media, her two JRTs and six chickens, doing crafts too numerous to mention, reading memoirs and chick lit, and sitting around a table playing Spades, Euchre or Cards Against Humanity with her friends and drinking merlot.

Jenness is Deaf but still learning ASL, has hearing aids and they help but they’re not miracle workers so she relies pretty heavily on lip-​reading and body language. She prefers text or email because she can’t hear voice calls.
