History

Established in 2014.

Meis Communications, LLC was formed in 2011 by Cynthia Petersen to assist development of a community newspaper in Hiawatha, Iowa, the Hiawatha Advocate.

Though the weekly newspaper is no longer in print, Cynthia moved forward in the business world, creating MarkIt CR in April 2014.

MarkIt Cr helps small business owners get online by assessing the business’ needs to create an individualized marketing plan that is simple and affordable, yet highly effective.

Services include (but not limited to) website creation, newsletters, email shout-​outs, and social media maintenance.

Meet the Business Owner

Cynthia P.

Business Owner

Cynthia has lived in the Cedar Rapids area her entire life. She has always had an interest in writing and photography, and practiced her talents on her children as they grew up. After her children moved out on their own, she realized her dream of earning a journalism degree at Mount Mercy University. With the encouragement of her friends and family, Cynthia started a newspaper in Hiawatha in 2012; the Hiawatha Advocate.

Though the newspaper is no longer in print, Cynthia enjoyed the freedom of being a business owner and decided to pursue an online marketing business for other small businesses.

Because she knows first-​hand how expensive and time-​consuming running a business can be, she offers her services at a much-​lower rate than most website builders.

Cynthia is also a volunteer in the community and helps lead a group of special needs young adults in Venture Crew, a branch of the Boy Scouts of America.
