Description

Specialties

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Habitat for Humanity ReStores are proudly owned and operated by local Habitat for Humanity affiliates, and proceeds are used to build homes, community, and hope locally and around the world.

Providing alternative disposal for useable items:

In the U.S. more than 325 million tons of recoverable building materials are generated every year. The Habitat ReStore connects unwanted building materials, appliances, furniture and home goods with people who can use them. ReStore has diverted tons of materials away from the landfill.

History

Established in 2005.

In September 1992, the first Habitat for Humanity ReStore in the U.S. opened its doors in Austin, Texas. At that time, the Habitat ReStores were known to sell building materials only. Today, with approximately 500 stores strong in 3 countries and growing, the Habitat ReStores sell everything from household items to furniture to building materials. The Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity ReStore opened it’s doors in late 2005 and continues to grow steadily impacting the community, environment and building efforts in a positive light.
