It is so nice that St Luke’s has an independent coffee shop within it’s walls. In a town like Cedar Rapids where everything is kinda spread out, it can be a bit of a hassle to leave the hospital and drive to the closest coffee or lunch spot, and the cafeteria isn’t exactly my cup of tea. They have sandwiches made daily, the tuna salad is my favorite. All the sandwiches are huge and I usually only eat half of it. Considering the size, the prices are reasonable. Way too many cookies, scones, muffins, and cinnamon buns to choose from. A large coffee and tea menu. And the service is always friendly and quick. I can walk through the enclosed catwalk connecting the building chemo is in to the hospital and quickly get to Brewed Awakenings to get lunch for me and mom. Of course, regardless of moms insistence that she does not want a cookie, I get us a frosted sugar cookie to share. I only end up getting about a quarter of it though :) They are so good.
