History

Established in 1999.

Artistic Strands Hair Salon opened in its original location in the Indian Creek Mall in Marion, Iowa in 1999. The small salon focused on meeting all of the hair care needs of its clients — from customized hair cutting and coloring techniques to expert styling.

In 2007 the salon expanded and moved to its current location in Northeast Cedar Rapids at the intersection of Boyson Road and C Avenue. Along with a larger salon area to accommodate the quickly growing clientele base, a spa area was added to offer professional waxing services, manicure and pedicure treatments, relaxing massages, and facials. Nestled in a supportive surrounding neighborhood you will find Artistic Strands to be warm and inviting the minute you walk through the front door.

Meet the Business Owner

Denise M.

Business Owner

Denise is a cosmetologist and the owner of Artistic Strands Salon & Spa. She went to school at Capri College in Davenport, and has been doing hair since 1988. After working at various salons throughout Cedar Rapids, she opened Artistic Strands in Marion in 1999. In 2007 she moved the salon to its current location in NE Cedar Rapids.

Denise focuses her artistic talents on doing hair — cutting, coloring, highlighting, perming and facial waxing. Of all the aspects of working with hair, her specialty is creating wonderful haircuts. One of her favorite product lines is Kenra, preferring any product that provides a lot of hold. She would recommend Kenra Boosting Spray-​Foam, Volume Spray 25 and Styling Gel 17 to anyone who shares her love of big hair and strong hold.
