The Home Depot

They were awesome when delivering my deep freeze. They called me 30 minutes ahead of time to let me know they were headed my way. They cleaned up all the packaging for me. Installed it and made sure I had no further questions or concerns. Very professional and helpful.

Most people working at Home Depot are skilled but some have have a skill level that seems deplorable. For example, If you return a plant that you yourself can identify please do not expect them to do so. Above all save your scan barcodes because if the gardening has to look for the right plant to scan and will call 2 people up to the front who will walk around in a daze looking in the area in back for a plant you can find yourself in less than one minute. The managers excuse for the employees there are a lot of plants to recognize in gardening so they don’t know all of them or where they are located. There is not that much of a variety of flowering plants. Great for general items but forget their plants. Most will croak so above all else save your scan bar!

Actally one thing is the time needs updated because its open until 10, not 9. Great help everytime I go

This location is horrible! One occasion, we stopped by to look at gas grills. The lady was very nice, but not very knowledgeable. We decided to look somewhere else and see what other stores had. We decided we did like one of the Weber grills and I called to ask if it was in stock. The girl that answered, was a knit whit! I gave her all of the information she needed. Weber, summit model, s-​420 and the price. She asked me if I had the skew number. I told her no, but if you look on the floor you will see the item and then you could check. She seemed annoyed and asked me to hold. After holding for 7 mins I hung up.
I called four more locations around town and they were very helpful. I gave them the same info and they had no prob finding it. Sadly they only had the floor models. They told us since the grill was expensive, the did not stock it and would have to order it. Since we were still in the area we decided to drop in at this location to see if they did have it. They did have one on the shelf, but the box was all smashed up. So we ordered it with the Georgetown location and they matched the online price of another website.
I will not be returning to this location.

It’s a Home Depot, disappointed in the skill level of those employees. I use to go there and get GREAT tips and help on DYI stuff, lately it seems like the people there are still friendly but very untrained in their area of «expertise»

Lowes has changed their policy on Vet Discounts. Home Depot has not. WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER for Home Depot.
As previously posted, both Lowes locations did an override and gave me my Vet discount (Texas Drivers License). Kudos to the Lowes clerks. But, for no hassle respect… Home Depot for the win.

We moved here a few months ago and have always shopped at this Home Depot, mainly because it’s the closest to our house and Lowe’s is overpriced. But, after this evening, we will drive the extra way to the location on Lakeline.
We started off in the lawn mower section, looking for a carburetor re-​build kit and primer bulb for our chainsaw. We were having difficulty finding either and an employee (a guy, probably early 40’s) asked if we needed help. He started to tell us they didn’t have what we were looking for and mid-​sentence answered his phone and walked off. Then another employee shooed us off the isle so they could block it off. They were in no way interested in helping us, it turned out we were in their way and they wanted us to move.
We managed to find everything else we were looking for without issue and paid about 10 minutes before they closed. In the parking lot, we were unloading our kids (a toddler and infant) and had a cart full of stuff. As we were unloading, a butch looking lady named Heather came up and asked for the basket. I didn’t feel comfortable with her hand on the basket with my infant still sitting in it so I grabbed him and she looked at me and said, «well?» Apparently, we were taking too long for her. To pacify her (I considered giving her my sons binky), I struggled to grab a huge hedge trimmer and 2 bags (while holding my infant) with absolutely no offer of assistance from Miss Impatient. I had no sooner grabbed the hedge trimmer and she was already ripping the basket out from under it.
Maybe 3 minutes after this, we pulled up to the door to put a diaper in the trash can. I start to get out of the car and Miss Impatient starts yelling ‘WE’RE CLOSED!!!’ from 50 yards away. Obviously someone has a stick shoved where the sun doesn’t shine, so I ignored her and continued towards the trash can. Apparently the diaper in my hand and obvious intent of heading towards the trash can weren’t enough because she again yells at me. I politely say, ‘I know’ and hold up the diaper. She completely ignored me and there was no acknowledgement of the fact that I had been yelled at for no reason.
This location SERIOUSLY needs to train their employees on customer service. It’s not often that I send an email to complain about a rude employee, but I will be sending one about this.

I’m giving this HD 3 stars cause there is some room for improvement. I’m a hobbyist and frequent these places often, probably an average of 3 times a week. The selection is solid and the place is clean and organized. The area that needs improvement is in customer relations. I’ve been going to HD for over 29 years now and some locations just knock your doc off with a great customer experience.
I can remember years back remodeling a bathroom for my mother with no experience and there was a plumber at the HD by her house who basically walked me through the entire process. Even going as far as to give me his cell number. The bathroom 10 years later is still in great shape and I’ll never forgot that experience.
This HD lacks that kind of dedication in general. You are rarely approached or asked if you need assistance and I frequently see groups of employees huddled up and standing around chatting while customers are in need of help. If you need assistance you more than likely will need to «hunt» down someone.
This weekend I was looking for an item. (I won’t mention the department) I was in an isle with another customer being assisted. We were the only two customers there. Another employee walked up and never made eye contact or asked me if I needed help instead he assisted his co worker until they were complete before making it my way…
I will end this on a positive note and say the tool rental department and the gentleman that wears a cowboy hat and his staff are consistently top notch. I can almost assure you it’s his department and his philosophy. If the entire store replicated this department…

I would not use this Home Depot again for plumbing services, nor would I recommend them to anyone. ARS Rescue Rooter is Home Depot’s preferred vendor in my area for plumbing services. I had to replace my residential water heater. Be aware that many cities now require this thing called an «expansion bladder» when you replace an existing water heater. I talked to a local city building inspector and he said that, although it is required by code, it’s largely useless and the chances of it being needed are about the same as my odds of «being killed in a plane crash». I understand that they have to install it, but Home Depot and ARS are certainly dialed into this replacement situation and LOOK AT THE HOME DEPOT/​ARS FEE SCHEDULE VERY CAREFULLY if you do decide to use them. The bladder sells for about $ 40 at Home Depot and ARS charges $ 312 to install it. Yep, $ 352 in total. And, BTW, they will not install a bladder if you go to Home Depot, buy it, and bring it home yourself. It was more than the cost of the water heater! It’s a total grab for cash on the part of ARS and Home Depot. They obviously just view us as walking ATM machines, and I won’t support companies that do not give more respect to their customers, and their hard-​earned dollars.

Follow up… After emailing Home Depot customer service directly and getting the auto-​generated email thanking you for contacting them… nothing. It’s like you never existed. They did cash the check though!

Is there every any help in here? Jeez! Can’t find anyone. People standing around in groups not looking to help anyone. Frustrating.

Home Depot contacted me and apologized for my experience.
I’m upping the rating to three stars until I make in in to the store again to see if they’ve changed, because they do seem to care about their customers.

I’d recently bought a canoe and wanted to build something to wheel it around instead of having to hand carry it. I went to Home Depot today just to look around for ideas. I’m glad I ran into Nathan and David, not only did they made suggestions… they took the time to help me pick out the tools, the parts, helping with cutting pvc pipes and even putting it all together. Their customer service level to represent Home Depot was beyond expectations. I love my new canoe roller. Great job guys and thank you so much.

Been using this home depot since the past 3 yrs and there is one particular employee (Doug) who seems to always know his stuff… if in doubt just ask for him. u’ll be in n out within 10 mins!

Since my Home Depot didn’t carry the blinds I wanted, I came to this one. It’s laid out like all other HD. So walking in and headed straight for the window section.
Ahh, nope, no blinds here. So I stopped and asked the first HD employee I see. I got a puzzled look then he pointed to where I came from and said «It’s by the appliances.» Okay, doesn’t make sense but I head that way. Well, it was past the appliances in the back corner where they stored the forklifts.
I begin my search of the brand, color, and size I need. The boxes were all covered in dust. I finally find them as I step over the forks on the forklift. Pull three of them out and put them in my cart. Once out of the dark corner, I notice one of them has a different color. Back to find a matching color, Thank goodness they had six of them and I find a match in color. Please note all the boxes said they were the same color.
To pay, my choices were standing in the Customer Service line or self-​service. Off to self-​service, scan, pay and out of there.
Boy, did I miss the smiling, happy, helpful employees at my Home Depot.

I stopped in this morning to buy a light fixture for my ceiling fan. Unfortunately they weren’t easily found, or marked… and after standing around like an idiot for 10 minutes, I finally got someone to help me… unfortunately he wasn’t all that helpful, but he directed me to «Jeff» who normally worked that area of the store, but was in the Tool Rental area today. Jeff was incredibly helpful… instead of instructing me to purchase a $ 50 light kit, he pulled mine apart, and found the issue, and fixed it for me… free of charge. All I had to do was buy light bulbs. This is the type of customer service that is RARE in this day and age. I salute JEFF for his help… Thanks so much for your help today and saving me tons of $$$

It is definitely a Home Depot.
Which means some of the wood had been placed in the wrong pile, and so wasn’t cut to the right length, and you had to wait forever for someone to operate the saw.
On the plus side, the woman at the second lumber area register was super nice and fast and got everyone through quickly.

Different From Most… and for the Area it surprised me… small parking lot… Yet have Heavy Equipment on trailers ready to rent… I Enter… On a mission. Assignment …Spray Paint… First Sign I see when I walk thru the Door. Score…Out the door in 10 Minutes…

Home Depot review #2. After the disaster of 05, I decided to give HD and a different location a shot. Got an estimate for carpet install and paid $ 35 fee to get measurement (snuck that charge in), waited for 3 days for a call from Detroit to discuss estimate. I guess they couldn’t just email it to me (which never occurred). They left a message, I left a message with phone # and waited. By that time had LOCAL company install carpet for less and in 48 hours. Guy at HD when originally signed me up for estimate called and asked if I purchased HD carpet. When I said no, he was rude and hung up quick. Home Depot service is pathetic and will NEVER use them again. I will buy things there, but their service is a joke. Whether a celebrity says «$ 37 whole house carpet installation» or not, HD service SUCKS!!!

After 6 YEARS of dealing with this store, we have spent a total of $ 20k here on home improvement materials and appliances. My mom has the big limit on her card, so we always use it and then pay her back. So far, we have not had ONE issue doing this.
Today, they wouldn’t let us purchase a refrigerator because they said she would have to be present — that was the only way the purchase could be done. We spent over 2 hours in the store trying to get this appliance, running up the chain of command, etc.
The manager explained that it was a «security measure» even though we had her verifying information and she even offered to call in from the phone number that is listed on the account or have them call her at that number to verify the purchase.
After 2 frustrating hours, we finally went home where we realized almost immediately that we could simply have her order the fridge online and have it directly shipped to our house. In fact, had we wanted to, we could have ordered it ourselves since we had the card and her billing address.
My biggest complaint here is that we wasted 2 HOURS and no one ever mentioned that we could get the exact same savings online without anyone having to have drive two hours to show someone a drivers license. No one, not the customer service employee, the manager, even the phone customer service ever mentioned this option even ONCE.
The most ridiculous thing about this experience is that anyone could steal my mom’s credit card and so long as they know her billing address they can have the appliance shipped to any random location. Going through the store, especially with over half of the staff knowing us personally, there seems to be much more opportunity to actually root out fraud — perhaps requiring us to provide our identification, or again to call her at the number listed on the account. Going through the store, we’ve often had to verify the account using her SS#, date of birth or phone number. Yet we could have done all this online without any of that information.
In my opinion, all of this nuisance has less to do with protecting security and more to do with driving customers to the online store so the company can cut back on employees the way Walmart and Target are doing. If so, they are doing a good job considering their staff is just short of awful. The staff at Lakeline is far superior to the staff here. Poor management and poor policy. If they are going to drive traffic to the online store, at least give your customers the option to do it.
P. S. Enrique who is the last surviving appliance employee (out of 7) was EXCELLENT. He helped us find the exact right refrigerator. If it weren’t for his help, we would have probably ended up going through either Sears or Lowe’s.

This review is solely based on their houseplant section — I have actually had some really good experiences here with helpful employees, but I bought an indoor palm tree here for my plant room only to discover a few months later that it is infested with mealy bugs.
I’m super bummed out right now because in my plant room I have about 20 orchids and the mealy bugs started to spread like wildfire across my whole orchid section — orchids that I’ve had for over ten years. Seriously, seriously bumming.
After looking up some solutions online, I did go back to this home depot to try to find some systemic insecticide and did encounter two helpful ladies that assisted me in picking out some insecticide that looks hopeful. However, I told them that I bought a plant at their store that was infested which was the reason why I was buying the insecticide in the first place and they were 1. Unapologetic 2. Not surprised 3. Did not offer me anything whatsoever — a chat with the manager, a discount on the insecticide. nothing!
So, as a warning to people who have a lot of houseplants and want to keep them alive and healthy, I cannot stress enough, Do Not Buy Houseplants Here. I will never buy another plant from Home Depot — inside or outside. I’m not going to take my chances and you shouldn’t either!
