The Texas Museum of Science & Technology promotes exhibits and interactions within the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The museum will be showing both permanent and traveling exhibits within the museum space, and also plans to construct a domed planetarium within the space in the future to show STEM-themed content as well as presentations of the night sky.
The museum also contains a cafeteria that serves several types of sandwiches and beverages, and also some tasty dessert options.
History
Established in 2003.
TXMOST was formerly known in the Austin metro area as the Austin Planetarium. We are a grassroots, nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing a world-class science museum and planetarium to the central Texas area.
Austin Planetarium was founded in 2003. In 2010, we began offering a mobile, inflatable planetarium to show science-based content to adults and children in the Central Texas area. As of January, 2015, over 100,000 attendees have experienced our mobile planetarium content.
In March, 2015, Austin Planetarium changed its name to the Texas Museum of Science & Technology and opened an interim museum facility in Cedar Park, TX. Within this facility, TXMOST will be exhibiting both permanent and traveling exhibits to the public, as well as constructing a domed planetarium within the museum space.
