Red Stone Ranch

I’ve been happy with our three years here at Red Stone Ranch. I lived here in a two bedroom, two bath with attached garage with a couple flatmates. Angelia has always been kind, the maintenance people often arrive less than 30 minutes after I submit anything, and everyone I’ve met at the office in the past few years have been good people.
I like that they allow you to pay extra in rent each month, which we’ve been doing for the past year. Now we won’t have to worry about our last month’s rent so much, we are so far ahead!
Last year when we thought we would have to move at the same time as our wedding, Angelia did everything she could to help my husband and me locate a good deal with UDR properties. We ended up not having to move, but I’ve always been grateful to her for that.
We’ve had problems with plumbing while we were here, but nothing out of the ordinary and everything was usually fixed very promptly. I’m not kidding, the maintenance people are super fast. I once submitted a request as I was leaving for work and when I pulled out the garage minutes later I saw the maintenance person going in our front door. They once replaced our entire fridge.
I will say there is some ongoing trouble with mold here. I noticed some in the garage hallway when we first moved in, and they came and sprayed it immediately and it didn’t come back. However, both our bathrooms face a constant battle against mold in the grout around the garden bathtubs. Bleach, enzyme sprays, it always comes back because the air doesn’t circulate. And even when we moved in, the grout was in a fairly sad state. My attempts to scrub away the mold has not improved the grout, but there’s nothing I can do about that.
Also, we have gotten used to the ever-​present tiny sugar ants. We have never been bitten by a single ant, and we’ve had the apartment spray for pests several times, but we finally just accepted it. On occasion they’ll discover something on the counter, in a cabinet, or in the pantry that they can get into, and they take advantage of that. Last holiday season we started keeping the holiday cookies and cakes in the fridge or the microwave, but they did eventually make it into the microwave too. Again, they’re sugar ants and they don’t sting at all. In fact, I think they’re mostly inside looking for water. They never bother our fruit bowl and once ignored a lot of sugar that had spilled in our pantry, which I forgot to clean up. When I found it again, I couldn’t figure out why our ants didn’t care.
One thing we’re baffled by is the management’s decision (before we moved here) to do away with the recycling. It’s not commonly offered by apartment complexes in Cedar Park, but when we asked about it, we were told that Red Stone used to have recycling and decided to stop because one resident stole their large blue plastic bin and was using it in his apartment. So they stopped the whole program. We are very much looking forward to having recycling in our new apartment in Austin.
They just recently renovated the basketball court, and there always seems to be at least a couple of teenagers out there getting some exercise. The gates are often broken, but when that happens they’re left open for safety. The pool is always clean and the grounds are well kept up. Parking has never seemed to be an issue, though my husband comes home late from work when many of the spots are full. I loved having a garage here, though we were incredibly lucky to get this unit at the right time, since I think there are only four attached garages in the whole complex. It’s enough for my four-​door car to park comfortably with space for about one more car’s worth of storage. SO helpful. I will miss that dearly when we move.
Side note – If you’re into Ingress, there are two portals here inside the gates, the playground and the windmill. You might luck out with a couch portal, but the way they are situated you’re more likely to have to walk to them. The neighborhood is usually blue, though there are enough green players to keep it interesting. Plus there are eight more portals within walking distance at ACC, Randall’s, Sprouts, and the local pizza place.
Speaking of which, we HIGHLY recommend Local Slice Pizza, which delivers pizza with locally-​sourced ingredients. Very convenient to the apartment.
I’m taking away a star for the bad grout and mold, the ants, and the lack of recycling. But they earned a solid four stars for three years of good service and being friendly. We’re pleased with Red Stone Ranch and might stay if our workplaces were closer, and the rent a bit cheaper. Good folks.

Seriously if you want to be miserable and deal with incompetent maintenance mangers do not go here.
Angela is helpful but she can only do so much. the «manager» is a piece of work as well we had so many leaks in our apartment from the apartment above us and it went into one of our closets in the bedrooms and ruined so much cloths and boots and of course this was in our kids closet. We then had several more leaks even in the garage. I have photos of all the crap we delt with. oh and the scorpions because the pest control they use is crap. the pest control. tech said they aren’t supposed to spray anywhere else but by the front door and along the windows so we ended up getting out own pest control. Our washer broke and then the maintenance guy came by and hooked up a new one and forgot! Forgot to plug in the water hose so guess what?! Water all over the kithcen and dining rooms again!.. so we had been dealing with so many water issues at that apartment that it was literally a nightmare we saw no end. I would honestly not recommend this place to my worst enemy photo’s coming soon.
Just trust me don’t waste your time keep yourself and yoir family away! Far away!

Living here has been alright! We had some minor issues when we moved in, but I just think it was time to update some things. They were fixed rather quickly, which was super nice. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The grounds are cleaned for the most part and the pool is great. If you live up in front, it’s pretty loud since you are on a main road. One suggestion that I would have is that there needs to be more doggie stations, especially in the front part of the complex. Otherwise, they are spread out nicely. I’ll update in a few months when our lease expires.

I lived here for 3 years. Angelia is super helpful in the office. Sometimes the rest of the staff can be hit or miss. They are usually fairly prompt in making repairs.
