Mr. Tankless

Called Mr Tankless to fix tankless HWH. Came out and charged 300 to tell us all was fine. After he left system was not fine and kept tripping fuse. Wanted another 600 to come out and flush the system. Called Austin Texas Water Heaters who found the problem quickly, repaired it, and flushed the system for 500. Won’t be calling Mr Tankless again for service. The problem was easy to find if they actually did anything for the 300 charged.
The check we wrote was to Robert Lemons and the system is propane not electric. So your memory is less than accurate.

We needed to change out our hot water heater for a tankless model and I spent quite a bit of time online looking at multiple sites for reviews and then getting four estimates. When we met with Bob, we were impressed with how thorough he was in educating us and answering our multiple questions and concerns. We felt he offered the most comprehensive estimate and his pricing was very reasonable. The experience has been great! We were lucky that we were not in an emergency situation, but emergency or not we would call on him again for ANY plumbing needs.

I’ve used Bob, owner of Mr. Tankless, on several jobs at several different properties. I am shocked to see negative reviews about his character and trustworthiness, because I’ve never met a more trustworthy contractor. He is great. He knows his stuff. He shows up on time and works quickly. He bends over backward to ensure a positive experience. He doesn’t try to overcharge you or get you to buy stuff you don’t need. Bob has always treated me like family and I will call him for any plumbing related need I have. He even let’s me call him just for advice. He is a stand up guy and I highly recommend him to anyone, especially if you are thinking of installing or repairing a gas tankless unit.

We had Bob come out and look at are Rinnai Tankless water heater. It was not working and blinking a code 12. He informed us that the heat exchanger was rusted and corrodad and needed to be replaced. Since it was not under warranty. It would be cheaper to replace the unit for $ 2800.00. We said we would think about and get back to him, paid him $ 175.00 service fee for coming out to look at it.
I decided to call Rinnai. They were very helpful and told me. Yes !!! my heat exchanger was still under warranty. And standard procedures with fixing Rinnai tankless water heaters, is the service person is supposed to call Rinnai 800 number and tell them the code that is blinking and trouble shoot the problem over the phone.
The next person who came out did Exactly that, without me given mentioning calling Rinnai to trouble shoot the problem. Turns out my heat exchanger was fine. He was able to fix it after talking with Rinnai over the phone. Charged me $ 178.00 dollars and it’s been working great.
Bob and Mr tankless are are not truthful and should not be trusted !!!

Thank goodness for Mr. Tankless! He is our hero and has saved the day.
Bob and his team were able to come out and rescue us during the middle of a mini-​remodel. We replaced all our countertops and sinks, consequently all the plumbing was off and needed to be fixed… valves needed to be replaced, drain positioning adjusted, leaks dealt with, etc.
When other plumbers wouldn’t even give me a call back, Bob responded very quickly. Showed up, knocked out the work, and get us back to working water throughout our home.

I am very disappointed that I felt compelled to write this review. My first and second experience with Bob/​Mr Tankless was a very positive one. I feel he is an expert in his field and found him to be very friendly and fair priced.
However, my last service call he left me hanging. In his effort to solve the error code that the heaters produced, he thought that the only thing left to do is replace a part. I paid him for his service of flushing AND repairing the heaters. He provided service on Friday. He left the one «broken» error code heater off (thank god we had two), to go get a part and come back. After two months of calling him what seemed daily and NEVER getting a call back, I reached out to another plumber. The second plumber simply turned it on, put the panel back together and its been fine. It still might code out, no way to tell, but I had to pay another high service fee just to have the second plumber come out and turn it on. To make it worse, the second plumber was able to speak to Mr Tankless within hours of my telling him the story before coming over which was also very frustrating given Mr Tankless has never spoken to me since leaving my house that Friday.

Initially, it seemed like Bob did a pretty good job. However, after moving into the home, I soon realized that the unit was not mounted in a centralized enough location so other parts of the home could receive hot water in a timely manner. Instead, it wastes who knows how many hundreds or thousands of gallons of water monthly waiting for it to warm up on that side of the house. We even paid to have the gas line ran to the spot it was installed so really it could have been placed anywhere since the gas line was being installed anyway. In the end, I addressed it with him and asked him to move it and make it right. He stated the General Contractor suggested that spot to have quick hot water to the master bathroom. I am unsure this is true as it wasn’t discussed with us. However, as the expert we feel he should have known that by mounting it far to one side of the home could be problematic for the other side of the home. Or, at least he could have mentioned it as a possible issue along with some suggested solutions.
He declined to help.

Mr. Tankless installed my tankless waterheater several years ago. He was the most reasonably priced I found, and fast. I have called him over the years and he has kindly helped me trouble shoot over the phone at no charge. Mind you these very things that probably easily could have been fixed by opening up the manual, but the customer care and patience will keep me coming back.
