Mason Man

After some other work on the house, I needed a hole in the exterior wall repaired. My first mason bailed and so I was stuck with a plywood-​patched hole. It wasn’t a big job, and Mason Man was able to fit me in sooner than expected. The work itself was well done, with an excellent match on both stone and grout. The price was fair, and they also quoted out some other work that I’ll have them do in a few months after I get the underlying foundation fixed.

I hired the Mason Man to do some work on my house a few months ago. The Mason Man himself came by and walked my home to come up with the estimate. He struck me as professional and knew his business. At least one member of his crew that performed the work wasn’t in the same league.
When the work was being done, Mason Man himself was not there. One of the guys who was doing some caulking around the windows and some other work, was on his cell phone the ENTIRE day. I’m talking at least 8 hours straight. Whenever I would come out to check on things, he’d tell whoever he was talking to that he’d call back and chat me up for a minute or two. Soon as I left, I can hear him back on his cell phone. Later in the day he even asked for an extension cord so he could charge his phone. This guy was completely unprofessional.
That would be fine if he did good work, but every handyman/​contractor who has come to the house since has asked who did the terrible caulking job. I thought it looked sort of bad while he was doing it, but I figured he knew what he was doing. At some point, I will get that work redone because it does look bad.
Some of the other guys reset some bricks that had separated after a foundation move. After they were done, it looked better than it did before, but it didn’t look great. Fast forward several months and I see my neighbor having some brick work done and I ask his contractor if he thought he could do a better job. He looked at the work and told me what should have been done (use new bricks) and how to properly set it. I paid him to redo the brick work that Mason Man’s guys did. After he did the work, it looked brand new. Night and day between his work and the work of Mason Man’s crew.
Lastly, Mason Man’s crew said they would return to adjust one of my gutters. They told me this after they got my check. Of course I didn’t hear from them again. I followed up with them, got an apology and they said the guy would be out later. Never happened.
I suspect Mason Man himself does good work, but he should supervise the work of his crew (s).
I consider the money I spent to be money wasted.

We love our new extended back patio and fire pit! We are ready for some crisp fall Texas weather so we can use our new pit to have a Smores night with the kids! Fantastic job. They were extremely professional and had the work done and cleaned up in under 2 weeks. I definitely plan on using them again for additional landscape and masonry needs. Thanks guys!

They came out and replaced the crushed granite walk ways with concrete and removed the metal edging around several flower beds and replaced it with stone. Work quality is good, but made the mistake of paying before the finished all the work and removed the granite. They’ve promised to come out multiple times to finish and have yet to finish stone boarders and remove the granite left on the side yard.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Austin has a glut of work which has allowed non-​responsive companies to stay in business. That’s too bad. I have called and emailed Mason Man no less than 15 times to get a response. Email have never received a response. Phones are answered and they’re polite. They promise to look at asap… send something next day… blah blah blah. I’m so tired of being promised a bid I’ll never receive for work Mason Man will never receive. Tired of promises. They’ve given me a bid and all that needs to be done, which would take all of 5 minutes, is to separate out costs for two pieces of work so we can proceed with one and not both. Colossal joke. Crappy customer service seems to be a calling card for too many Austin vendors spoiled by the glut of work, including Mason Man. No bueno

Matt is very busy, but after I returned the signed contract for a limestone and Oklahoma Peach stone patio, I told them I needed the patio completed by May 15^th. Matt was done by Friday, May 8^th and Monday, May 11^th they guys came out to clean up the driveway. Plus Matt stuck to the price he quoted me and didn’t try charging more. Matt was very easy to work with but more importantly his Mason guys are amazing! The mason guys made a very slight slope in the patio so I won’t have standing water and they really take pride in their work. They wanted to make sure I was happy. Excellent experience and I will definitely use them again.

Mason Man did my new home landscaping. I met with 2 other companies, but Matt at Mason Man was the only one who was interested in hearing my preferences before offering design options. He offered practical, creative ideas that were within my budget, and the team executed perfectly. They tidied up at the end of each day and finished the job in half the estimated time. I recommend Mason Man and look forward to working with Matt in the future.

The Mason Man built an outdoor kitchen and walkway for us. It came out perfect and exceeded our expectations! The walkway looks beautiful with a circular landing off my back patio and another one at the entrance to my work shed. The kitchen has a decorative back wall that blocks the evening sun and really cools down the patio area. All my kitchen appliances fit like a glove. We will enjoy this stonework as long as we own our home and I know the investment will pay off if we ever decide to sell.
Jaye is very straight forward and professional. It only took him about 15 minutes to provide a bid which he wrote on the back of a business card. This shows that he really knows his business and doesn’t try to gouge his clients. The other contractor bids I received were twice the price and took them hours and multiple visits to provide. They would start out with an insanely high price and gradually lower it to see how much they could get you to buy off on.
The work crews are very proficient and skilled. They did an excellent job and cleaned everything up afterwards.
You won’t go wrong with the Mason Man!

Scheduled to come out to give me an estimate. I took off of work to meet him…10 minutes before our appointment he called to say he couldn’t make it.
We rescheduled as he said he’d make it up to me. This time he didn’t even bother calling… he simply did not show up at all.
It’s really unfair when you actually take off of work as an hourly employee. Not only did I waste two day but I lost wages but I am no closer to getting work done that I need.

Awesome… Awesome… Awesome. You can stop your search now and hire these guys. We called got a quote the same day, 3 days later the crew showed up and rocked out our new patio in 1 day. They did an amazing job and the price was very reasonable!!! I can’t wait to have them come back and do more work.

We had a very good experience with the Mason Man. Am planning on having additional work done by them to create an outdoor kitchen in the next month as well.
We wanted to have our fireplace redone so it was not the mundane, cookie cutter, builder grade look. We purchased a barn beam to use as the new mantle and replaced brick with stone. Called Jaye who came in a day or so to provide estimates. Very fair pricing.
The work was started on a Friday and completed over the weekend to accommodate our work schedules. This was very helpful, so we could be home. The demo was done and prep one day. The next day, the guys finished the stone on the fireplace and we added an area under the bar in the kitchen. Also there was a wood specialist that hung the new mantle. Which was no small feat considering the weight and the support configuration that needed to be determined to secure to the wall carefully.
The crew was very polite, prompt and helpful with questions when they were completing the work. They were highly conscientious about making sure the stone, grout and floor tile replacement was to our satisfaction. They even went out to buy an extra couple of pieces of our tile since they wanted to be sure the look was perfect. Clearly above and beyond service.
I would highly recommend Mason Man and look forward to have other projects completed by them very soon.

Mason Man did a wonderful job in my backyard. In all he built a stone patio, grill, fire pit, pergola, and railing. His quote was the best I could find, and he got the job done fast. It looks really really nice.
At first I was a bit worried, because I had never hired a contractor before, and I had heard other people’s horror stories, but it all turned out great. He also provides a 2 year warranty on his work.
I would recommend Mason Man to anyone.

I am so impressed with Mason Man. The quote was less than we expected and the finish time was even better. Our backyard went from completely useless to our favorite place to spend time. The guys were fast, friendly, reliable, and fair. What more could you ask for? We will be calling them back to help out with a few other projects!

These guys are super!!! Called Jaye about two weeks ago to get an estimate for our stone patio/​bench/​fire pit. His price was very fair. I needed this done ASAP before our wedding party and they were able to squeeze me in the following week. They started Friday after lunch and finished by lunch time Sunday. They worked all day under that 100 degree Texas heat and worked hard through the weekend. All the guys are very courteous and most of all, they do good work. Would definitely call them the next time I need some work and recommend them to all my family and friends! Thanks so much!!!

I requested and received a proposal promptly from the Mason Man. His price was in line with one other bid I received and approximately $ 1100 less than a bid I got from another mason in Liberty Hill. Day 1 was mostly staging gear and delivering materials. About 3 rows of stone were laid that day. Day two was a long, full day of hard work by Tony, the lead mason who was a true professional. Much of the day was spent dodging thunderstorms and lightning. As a result the work spilled over into a short third day with work finishing around 11am. I could not be happier with the results. The stonework is excellent with pleasing lines and consistent mortar lines. Stone and brick edges are straight and smooth. My job called for one row of bricks at the top as an accent and this work required some special cuts to look pleasing. Jaye Stark, the owner, did most of the brick work. He is a true craftsman. There were four men who worked on my project. All were friendly and very good at their work. Solid teamwork was evident throughout the project. Cleanup was excellent each day and at the end of the job. I have already asked Jaye for 3 more bids for additional work and will certainly use him again for my masonry needs.

So fast, a great job, and made the fact that my husband ran into our porch a distant memory very quickly! I would definitely recommend.

We hired Gio to remodel our fireplace. He took an ordinary fireplace and turned it into the focal point for the room. We love it! He did an excellent job and worked with us to get the specific look we wanted. He was professional, prompt and cost competitive. We will hire him for our next mason project.
