Are you ready to turn your talent into a profession? At the Gemini School of Visual Arts we believe a successful art career starts with both Traditional and Digital Art training. During our intense four-​year studio program, you’ll reach new heights in classic drawing and painting, and then apply those critical skills using the latest creative software in our state-​of-​the-​art Digital Media Lab. Classes are small and taught by professional artists who teach you to think creatively, communicate visually and conquer the daily challenges of a working artist. Finally, we’ll help you build a substantial portfolio-​the key to success for any artist.

From concept artists to freelance illustrators, Gemini graduates are well represented in top studios and creative industries including videogames, advertising, publishing, film and special effects.

History

Established in 2003.

The Gemini School of Illustration was founded in Berkshire, England in 1984 by Roger Barcilon. Roger’s philosophy of treating students like future professionals and sharing his time honored techniques from both the commercial and fine art world gave students a unique «apprenticeship» education – unlike most traditional art schools at that time. Word of Gemini’s successful illustration program quickly attracted students from all over the world and the school thrived for over 15 years in its original location. In October, 2003, Gemini School of Visual Arts & Communication was reborn in Austin, Texas with the same teaching philosophy and commitment to world class education as its UK counterpart.

Meet the Business Owner

Roger B.

Business Owner

Roger graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Barcelona, Spain. He has been a professional illustrator for over 50 years in the advertising and publishing industries where he continues to work today. His previous client list includes major advertising agencies throughout the US and Europe where his illustrations were used in campaigns for L’Oreal de Paris, Coca Cola, Pirelli, Gillette and Cartier.

As a renowned European fine artist, Roger has exhibited throughout Europe and the Americas where many of his paintings hang in private collections. Roger has the honor of being included in the Italian Encyclopedia of Art «Commanducci». Recently Roger was honored with an International Award of Excellence and included in the publication «Painter». Chosen from over 4,000 entries, Roger’s work titled «Self Portrait» embodies the Gemini School’s teaching philosophy by combining classic painting techniques with the latest digital tools.
