I highly recommend going with Asgard for your CHL training. I don’t need to say what all the other reviews already say. They’re the best out there.

My husband and I attended the Asgard Training class for our CHL today with our
adult daughter and her boyfriend. We really weren’t sure what to expect but what we got was extremely enjoyable. I say DITTO to all the other reviews. Excellent, relaxed instructor with REAL world experience. The class was both entertaining and eye opening with all of the information shared. My family plans on signing up for several of their other courses. Also, I had several questions before we took the class and some scheduling issues to overcome so I emailed Asgard several times before we took the class. His wife Stacey answered back promptly each time. This really helped us since we were dealing with so many schedules. I found Asgard’s great customer service to be very professional and refreshing
My family had a blast this Sunday. Froze our arses off but we’ll worth it! Fun Fun Fun! We WILL be back!

A co-​worker let me know about a groupon for a CHL class from Asgard. My groupon expired on ¹²⁄₅ but they honored it for the ¹²⁄₆ class. My wife and I attended the class together at about the same cost as a single student would pay. We were both thoroughly impressed by Steve Smith’s technical, and more important, practical knowledge of the material, and he gave several demonstrations that emphasized the material. He also had a sense of humor that I found amusing, even though I was the focus of one of the jokes! My wife and I were so impressed we plan on taking the Tactical/​Defense Pistol class to make sure we were better prepared. I have never taken a course like this so I have no basis of comparison to judge prior to taking the course (aside from my military experience), but i do now, and I would expect no less than the professional and highly informative style of course like we took on the 6^th. I highly recommend Asgard. Thanks Steve and Stacey!

Absolutely worth every dime. The instructor is knowledgeable with real world experience. If you go to any other course, you’re missing out!

I have taken two Asgard classes and Steve Smith has taught both. His CHL course was excellent, full of humorous anecdotes from his military and training experiences appropriately inserted between important info that the CHL owner must know. He even threw in some tactical pistol elements every CHL course should teach but are no longer required.
My second course was the Tactical/​Defensive Pistol I course. Steve has a great way of layering information and technique in order to build a skill set then tying those skills together to make you much more effective in an actual defensive action. He was very patient with our class that had a diverse amount of handgun experience. He is responsive to all questions, at any time.
My experience with Asgard has been outstanding and I will be taking more courses in the future. HIGHLY recommended!

I just completed the Tactical Pistol I training this weekend. If you carry a pistol, you can benefit from Steve’s experience. I served six years in the Army National Guard, just long enough to know that military training can be not fun if done wrong. That is totally not the case here, Steve is very personable, professional and has a depth of experience in this field that is hard to find. As I learned this weekend, you fight like you train, you might as well get training from the best.

This was a great class, and Steve was a great instructor. I was not sure what to expect going in, but I’m glad we took the class here. If you are looking for an instructor that has «been there, done that» but does not have a big ego about it, this is a great place.

I took my renewal with Steve, and can’t add much either to what has already been said. Steve was very knowledgable and professional. He invited class participation, answered all questions, and clearly covered the material. My wife will do her renewal with them in a few months, and we’ll probably take some other classes for fun and skill improvement in the future. Stacey was also most helpful in handling the details of enrollment and answering questions. Can’t go wrong using them!

I pride myself in doing my homework before making significant decisions in life. Since I already hold a CHL from another state, I wanted to make sure that I received the correct professional instruction regarding safety, legalities, and real world scenarios so I can the first step to responsibly and effectively carry a concealed handgun.
Well, I will have to say that a few hours of internet searching paid big dividends! My search lead me to your website and after reviewing your stellar credentials and real world background I was ready to sign up. Who wouldn’t want to learn from someone who ACTUALLY spent their life training and living exactly what they were teaching? What helped seal the deal was you (and your wife) promptly responding to ALL my questions about your course.
To sum it up I made a GREAT decision to take your class and I would recommend it to anyone who does not accept anything less than «top notch» instruction. This was not another dry pencil and paper eleven hour course where I left thinking about how bad the coffee and food was! This was an «experience» where the combination of classroom materials, actual demonstrations of real world scenarios, and limited personal range instruction (while qualifying) left me wanting more!
I honestly believe that the principals you taught/​demonstrated can mean the difference between a member of my family or myself safely making it through a dangerous confrontation. By your opening my eyes to so many new concepts I will never look at the responsibility of carrying a firearm the same way again.
I will DEFINITELY be back to take your tactical courses so that one day I hope to be a truly responsible and proficent Texas Concealed Handgun License holder.

This class completely exceeded my expectations.
I took the class alone. My significant other got his CHL from another instructor earlier this year, so I was on my own. I couldn’t find anything to fit into my hectic schedule, so I simply picked a class that fit into my schedule that weekend. I was really nervous when I showed up.
I REALLY lucked out. Stephen was great. I was dreading an all day class of stuffy and boring material. I wasn’t bored and was engaged the whole entire time. I learned a great deal and the class was excellent. Highly recommended. His teaching methods really got the material to stick in my head (which is hard for me usually). I also enjoyed side conversations about the subject matter during the breaks.
He also really got me thinking about things i’ve never thought about before. I have a great deal of homework, planning, and further education I need to work on!
I will be back to take other classes for sure! I am so glad that I took my CHL class with them and not another instructor.

Took their CHL course, which the state requires 10 hours of instruction and range proficiency testing. I actually enjoyed the class and appreciate Steve’s years of military training, including his amusing stories. His years of hands on experience is a huge advantage over an ordinary CHL instructor with no experience looking down the barrel at another human being.
I highly recommend this enjoyable class and first class instruction. I look forward to coming back for the tactical training classes!

I 100% recommend taking your CHL from Stephen Smith with Asgard Training Group. As a previous license holder, I had taken this exact CHL course & other weapons training classes before with other instructors. I can honestly say that I will never go anywhere else nor will I ever send anyone anywhere else. His background & knowledge of firearms & proper training techniques is above & beyond. Ask him about his career experience and you will be absolutely blown away. Not only is the class beyond informative, you can’t beat the price! Choose Asgard & you won’t be disappointed!

There’s nothing for me to compared this class with, but I had a great time there. Mr. Steve Smith was very easy going and put you in the comfort zone. Mrs. Smith even brought us lunch. Thank you, Stacey! Definitely recommend this! Planning to go to his tactical pistol class in a couple of weeks. And Yes, Steve got the background to back up his training classes!!!

Took the CHL class from Mr. Smith on 4/​1, my review is going to mirror the rest of the group. Not boring at all, I was afraid I was going to have to sit through 8 hours of hell and it wasn’t that way at all. Excellent teacher with a lot of knowledge about the law and real world on the ground experiance. The process from beginning to end was painless and the price was right as well. Thank you very much and I look forward to taking all of the tactical classes in the future.

I took the CHL class with Steve as the instructor. It was awesome! I learned a lot of information and he taught in a way that kept the class lively, rather than boring. Steve has experience to back up his teaching, too. Now I want to take the tactile gun class to become more proficient with my gun.

I took the CHL class from Stephen Smith with the Asgard training group. This guy was fanastic. Not only did he help with a greater understanding of the laws, but also the psychological aspects involved. He really helped instill the discipline required to make these types of decisions and gave real world scenarios. I found him entertaining and extremely proficient at his craft. On the range he also helped with technique. In addition to civilians, he also trains law enforcement and military personnel. He truly understands all aspects of owning, using, maintainig, and handling firearms. I learned and enjoyed this class so much, my wife is going to take it as well and we’re both going to take his tactical pistol class shortly. I can’t say enough about Steve and this group.
